      Im not sure if this is that good a question, but is there any way to play effectively in pvp in my situation when i essentually only use my right hand (keyboard and mouse), for context i have had some medical issues in my brains that have been treated few times with the after effect of paralysis/weakening on the left side of my body, the most recent issue mostly dropped the fine motoric properties of my left hand significantly, now im pretty good in a state of recovery, but the fingers still perform fery poorly, most of the chill activities i have handled by using my mouse hand(right) on keyboard, at most i can press w with my left hand while using mouse with the right, so i guess my guestion is what do you think i could even do in case of a combat, if the hand gets better which role should i take first, etc? (Thus far i have mostly been on wheel while my sloop buddy manages cannons and repairs, we have mostly been doing some ghost fleets and there has not been much broblems, maybe twise we have had to sink an infiltrating sloop but those have been seemingly bad players that we have managed to take down)

      @@konstakivinen4228 I know there's people with hand deformities that will use a personalized controller instead of keyboard, as that allows them to hit a lot more buttons than on keyboard, so I would look into using a controller. But to answer your question Cannoning is less demanding than Helming, and helming has a much higher skill ceiling than cannoning does. So I would learn MC or Flex. But it doesn't really matter.
      As someone once said, *This game is easy. If you can't find the bad players, then you are the bad player* So do whatever you enjoy doing, and get good at it.

      But I agree with you, Indi ONLY plays bilge. Whereas I play helm, flex, bilge, and main cannon. So I don't know some of the tiny nuances that you ONLY know when you ONLY play one role at the top level. Indi is definitely better than me at bilging, since he has more experience with different situations.

      Like I said in the video. These tips are great for 95% of the player base. But sure, if you’re trying to win league of thieves, this is too generalized and is not a good video to follow step by step.
      Although I am interested. What did I say (or not say) that shouldn’t have been in the video? I know the whole “repair tier 3 first” doesn’t apply if you have a tier 3 at the front and a tier 2 at the back, but only when the holes are right next to eachother. But what else (in your opinion) did I get wrong or should’ve fixed? Im always looking to improve myself, and I know I make tons of mistakes in my own gameplay.

    math proof of 21:22, for the nerds between us:
    assuming the data provided is correct and that water from holes are stacking linearly, we will examine two cases, in both we have a single tier 2 hole and a single tier 3 hole,
    lets call r2 and r3 the flow rates of tier 2 and 3 respectively, and t2 and t3 the time to repair.
    the first scenario is when we fix the tier 2 hole first, thus in the first t2 seconds the flow rate is r2 + r3, and afterwards in the remaining t3 seconds, the flow rate is r3 because only the tier 3 hole remained.
    to calculate V2 which is the total volume of water that got into the ship we sum the rates with respect to time and get:
    V2 = t2*(r2 + r3) + t3*r3
    the next scenario is when we fix the tier 3 hole first, and with similar methodology we get:
    V3 = t3*(r2 + r3) + t2*t2
    comparing between these two we can see that:
    V2 - V3 = t2*(r2 + r3) + t3*r3 - t3*(r2 + r3) - t2*t2
    = t2*r2 + t2*r3 + t3*r3 - t3*r2 - t3*r3 - t2*r2 = t2*r3 - t3*t2
    and with the data that was provided we get V2 - V3 = 4*109 - 6*63 = (roughly) 58
    so V2 is greater than V3.

    I really wish you went into more detail for the fire section.
    There is a lot more stuff to tell that will help players a lot while being relatively simple.
    So first i explain what i mean by "fire spots". Fire can only appear on predetermined spots on the ship as you probably know already...
    Fire can spread from these spots to adjacent spots.
    Now the interesting thing about the water splashes is the following:
    If you splash water on a fire spot it will also hit up to 2 adjacent fire spots. If the spot is burning it will extinguish one adjacent spot, if it isnt burning it can extinguish 2 adjacent spots.
    Meaning for example if Cannon 3 was burning (bilge cannon) and you splash on cannon 4 (helm cannon) you will extinguish cannon 3 even if it seems like you "missed".
    Knowing this you can reach spots with your water that might seem hard to hit before or just get simpler throws.
    I have some examples. To extinguish the fire spot between cannon 3 and 4 you can simply hit the mast with the water and it will extinguish the cannon as it is adjacent to the mast fire spot.
    By hitting the mast you can also extinguish the fire spots to the left and right of the grid. So if the ship is fully burning you can simply throw a couple of water buckets against the mast and it will actually reach 8 fire spots. Meaning you can splash mast 4 times and it will extinguish the entire area around the mast which is 8 spots, 2 each splash.
    Other things you can do with this is for example splashing wheel to extinguish the back mast as it is behind the wheel making it adjacent.
    Or splashing cannon 2 to extinguish the anchor which would normally be hard to hit through grid as the main mast blocks the water. But simply hitting a cannon next to the anchor will work just fine.
    Last example:
    You can extinguish the entire captains quarters with the same bucket throw just like splashing mast.
    You have to through the bucket through grid, through the door into captains quarters and hit somewhere in the middle which is easier than it sounds. This will hit everything in captains quarters as all spots in there are adjacent to the middle spot.
    If you abuse this mechanic to its absolute maximum you can extinguish the entire topdeck of the Galli just by throwing through the grid, except for the spot on the very back of the ship, the Bowsprit itself and the balcony.
    The mechanic does also help with extinguishing the balcony aswell even though you cant do it from lower deck.
    You can simply splash the walls or glass inside captains quarters to extinguish the fire on the balcony as once again the spots on the balcony are adjacent to the spots on the inside of captains quarters, removing the need to go all the way around.
    Ok i think the comment is long enoug already but i think this helps a lot extinguishing fire around the ship a lot faster.
    If i didn't explain it properly or anything is unclear just ask me...

    Also for the math while moving between holes, the longer you take to move between holes, the more efficient repairing tier 3 first is because your travel time will be using the fill rate of the hole you repair second.

    • @kaijoi8938
      @kaijoi8938  2 місяці тому

      True, I didn't explain it too well in the video, except the "repair the tier 3 hole first" is only when the tier 2 and tier 3 are right next to eachother. If you have a tier 3 at the front of the ship, and a tier 2 at the back, it's bad to run ALL THE WAY to the front of the ship, then ALL THE WAY back.

  • @alexproductions5148
    @alexproductions5148 2 місяці тому +1

    Two things: the first is that in your math for t3 vs t2 you don’t take the travel time into account. Depending on the distance between the holes, it may be better to repair the closer one because it means less water enters overall, especially if they are on opposite sides of the ship. This also plays into repairing front to back or back to front. Let’s say you have 2 T3’s one at the front and one at the back. If you repair front to back, there is time where you move from the stairs to the front and 2 T3’s of water are accumulating. Then you repair the front hole, move to the back hole, all while 1 T3 is accumulating. If you repair back to front, that time spent running across the ship is spent without any holes. Overall, I think bilges should prioritize holes that are closer to them. The faster you repair a hole, the less water will enter your ship, and the less work you need to do.

    • @kaijoi8938
      @kaijoi8938  2 місяці тому

      Very true. I failed to mention it in the video, but this "repair the tier 3" first scenario, only matters when the tier 2 and tier 3 holes are right next to eachother. You're absolutely correct in saying the bilge should repair the hole at the back instead of running ALL THE WAY to the front in that instance, then ALL THE WAY back.

Jack-O-Lantern does not make it easier to see, but after playing the game and using the default cannon flair for a long time. It doesn’t matter which cannon flair I use. Some people NEED to have a cannon flair that they believe is less bright in order to dodge/hit more cannons, but some people are just used to it and use whatever.

      In competitive sea of thieves you’re required to have the default cannon flair equipped. So all the top teams are used to default cannon flair, and they hit their shots and dodge cannonballs anyway. So I haven’t tested other flairs because we always had to use default.
      My suggestion to you is to just do whatever you want. It doesn’t matter what flair you use as long as you are dodging damage when possible, and are following your cannonball as it flies through the air so you know whether you are too high or too low.

    Is telling your helms to bail the fight not worth it?

    • @kaijoi8938
      @kaijoi8938  2 місяці тому

      I mean, a good helm will know to peel off the fight without you needing to tell him. He'll be able to see that you aren't hitting as many shots as they are, and that you are under lots of pressure. But you can always suggest to helm "I think we should peel off", just so you put the idea in his head. Now specifically for BILGE, you can't really make that call because YOU don't know how close broad is if you're down below repairing. Helm can't "bail the fight" if you guys are close-mid range. And especially for bilge; you should be able to just hold the water with flex forever.
      So like I said, you can always suggest to your helm to "peel off" if you want. But It's ultimately his call though.

      If you’re duo slooping then if you’re at a far range broad, then you can repair upper decks. But usually, if you’re at a close - mid range broad, it’s better to shoot snipes to try and kill the enemy crew instead of repairing a hole
      If you’re solo slooping, unless you’re running away and resetting the fight, you keep those holes open forever pretty much.

      Flex/helm/Main cannon since they have the most impact on fights.
      Bilge as he stated and what youve seen is a hardest role where every second counts, but it's also the least impactful on top deck against the enemy.
      It's a very good and under rated role in higher tier play as you can sustain fights for much longer.
      But with a bad crew you are just delaying being sunk.

    • @kaijoi8938
      @kaijoi8938  2 місяці тому +2

      Helm is the best role to help your team the most. This way when your teammates die to a 1ball or mess up, you as helm can make the call to turn out and reset the fight
      But if your teammates are bad and you’re fighting good crews, there’s not much you can do to “carry” eventually your teammates have to hit their shots and pull their weight.

      I agree. My videos are geared towards 95% of the player base. These videos are WAY to generalized for the top 1% to be able to utilize
      And the only way to coach the top 1% is to do VoD reviews and coach them on their actually gameplay. Doing what I’m doing where I’m just giving a random scenario, doesn’t help when you’re competing against competitive sea of thieves crews in LoT or LBH
      I personally prefer to market my videos to 95% of the player base, rather than the top 1%, but maybe someone will make videos for top level players one day.

      Grate bucketing for sloop isn’t even needed (in my opinion) since you can easily get knocked away from where you’re standing, as opposed to if you were to bucket through window or something.
      But yeah, that’s why I’m doing VOD reviews, and will be doing streams once I get all the overlays set up and do live vod reviews, as this will definitely make it easier to coach players more in-depth than a generalized UA-cam video.

    Hi, I’m a cannoneer, and I main 2v2 sloop for hourglass with a little solo. I’m struggling at the minute because I cannot do hand-to-hand combat and therefore, have to rely on my cannon skills when the opponent(s) are almost sunk, and because of this, I often mess up and they recover. Btw there are actually 5 tiers of holes. It would be appreciated if this was corrected in future videos. He's a recent video (not by me or anyone I'm associated with) explaining the matter.
    ua-cam.com/video/2M0OmQtDIFg/v-deo.html
    This could potentially mean that it is better to repair a level 4 before a level 5, but better to repair a level 5 before a level 3. Which is problematic given that a level 3 and 4 are visually identical

    • @kaijoi8938
      @kaijoi8938  Місяць тому

      Saw the video. But since 2 cannonballs will always make a tier 5 hole, and 1 cannonball will always make a tier 2 hole, the video doesn't matter for proving speed of water / hole sizes. Good crews don't use scattershots and they don't usually miss chainshots on bottom deck. So tier 2 and tier 5 are the only hole sizes that will be opened against good crews.

      I agree that if you’re trying to bilge at LoT level or become a competitive sot player, then yeah. Following this guide step by step is incredibly stupid and will get you sunk.
      Which is why in the video, I specifically said that **bilging is very nuanced with lots of situations, and it’s not a simply flow chart like other roles**
      But I am curious. What was so egregious in the video and what were the “fatal flaws” I put in there? I know I didn’t explain the “repair tier 3 first” only works when there’s a tier 2 and tier 3 RIGHT next to eachother. If one is at the front and one at the back, you should repair back first.
      But what else was massively incorrect about the video?

    • @TheTheLifeIsHard
      @TheTheLifeIsHard 2 місяці тому

      @@kaijoi8938 One would be tha call bilge is mid etc. A bilge want to stand as far as possible from the holes as he can so he will get a little splash damage but doesnt get knocked. This way he can get the plank plank on while even denying a hole getting from tier 2 to tier 3. When now even other persons will shoot on that spot the bilge will still get the patch done put new holes will not be opened.
      You normaly give the call so you have status on the enemy ship. like when the pressure is high the bilge will not be front he will be mid or is even also buggeting. So getting a hit call in the front means they dont have that much pressure or are a bad crew you will also know where the bilge likely patched, so can also be used as info of the pressure of the enemy ship.
      Your call of then shooting the bilge will get people sunk. Cause its important to keep every hole open. Canons are hart to hit so focusing on stuff that is not important and also releases pressure from the enemy ship is the wrong move.
      I hope my englisch was understandible and i got my point across.
      There are some more flaws, but my biggest is the way the bilge role gets presented and what his goals are.
      But when youi wanna start its a good video and its also the only one so thanks to you making sot a little bit more accessible to new players.

      (1) - I think what you’re saying is “Only calling flex down when you’re hitting mid deck is bad” -- I agree. Which is why once I got do the advanced portion of the video I immediately said “Forget what I said about ONLY calling flex down when you’re about to hit mid”
      (2) - I agree with you here that I did not SAY to stand as far away from the hole as possible. I SHOWED it in the clips, but I didn’t actually say it, and that was bad on my part, I agree.
      (3) - Now I don’t agree with what you said about “Shooting cannonballs and trying to hit bilge is a bad thing, because you want to get all those holes opened” -- You can do both. Getting holes opened AND shooting bilge is a great thing to do, because it means the bilge can’t get a repair on any of his holes, and he has to call flex down (if he hasn’t done so already) - if flex is down then that just means he has to keep him down for a lot longer. So I’m not sure what you mean by “cannonballs are hard to hit, and you will sink if you try to hit bilge” Cause It’s pretty easy to hit lowers when you’re close-mid range
      (4) - You said your biggest problem was the fact that I didn’t explain what the bilge’s roles are. I said in the video many times that the bilge’s job is to repair holes and prevent the boat from being under so much pressure that you are stuck in a situation where flex and bilge have to be down below deck forever. -- and your goal is to know how to repair/bucket effectively, and how to know when to call flex down.
      Anyways. You’re entitled to your opinion, but besides the fact that I didn’t SAY but instead SHOWED that you should stand as far away from the hole as possible, I’m not sure what GIGANTIC flaw there was?
      Any team will say hitting bilge off his repair is worth it. Now sure if you have all 4 people shooting 1 spot for 10+ seconds then that is pretty useless. But it’s not hard to hit a cannonball on a hole once every other cannonball, so I’m not sure what you mean by “cannons are hard to hit”
      But like I’ve said to many people. My guides are not made for the top 1% of players who are trying to win LoT or LBH. The only way to teach THOSE players is to do VoD reviews and analyze their gameplay and see specifically what they’re doing wrong. My videos are guidelines for the 95% to follow, and are very over-generalized for every single situation.
      But maybe I’m wrong. I was out of the competitive scene for 8 months. Maybe things have changed. What teams have you been on / heard from where shooting bilge is frowned upon?

      @@kaijoi8938 Mh ok my english is very bad then im sorry. That was not what i wanted to tell you. The first point was not about calling the flex down. It was about calling where the bilge is is only for the information how much pressure the enemy ship has.
      Also a very important point is that only at certain situations you can knock the bilge. The most of the time he will just get some damage but will not be moved.
      Sadly its realy hard to explain for me with my broken english.
      Im not realy in any team cause the comp doesnt realy work with rares laggy as servers.
      When you will play more you will see that the avareg player got way better and a person that was good back then is most often just a normal one.
