I'd say that being told "Run away and don't look back" is way different than being told "Run away and don't look back, because if you do, you will turn into a pillar of salt", if you only have the first info that is a common saying. I think it's not on you for perhaps thinking "I better check that a fireball or flying debris isn't falling at me in the most stressful moment of my life as everything and everyone I've ever met burns alive"
You don’t know how happy I am that you are covering this book. I was never a JW but when I was 7, I actually ASKED for bible study for when ever the next door knockers showed up. My family wasn’t religious and I was curious. I had weekly study with this book in the early 90s for almost 2 years. That book was S-C-A-R-Y!

But I developed a phobia of other types of religious art, images of Catholic saints for example... You left out my favorite part about how Sodom was actually destroyed by a fire-breathing dragon who could turn a person into glass with its glare! (Lot's wife was actually turned to glass and then she shattered, but it just looked like salt because it was in the desert and she got extra sandy) You must have had the pages stuck together so you didn't get the rest of the story. I know saying "That's wrong" might shut her down. But hearing her ask makes me want to help and build on her criticism, skeptisism, and self reliance. I just wonder what the "right way" to do that is.
Gently and carefully. Don't jump right in with Darkmatter2525 cartoons--though they are excellent, you have to ease into it. Take bible stories, and substitute "An Ancient Chinese Emperor" for YHWH Jealousy Jehovah, and ask if she thinks the emperor was right. YHWH is the Villain of the bible.

Even after all these years, I'm still struggling to notice some of the dark implications in some of these stories because I've been taught since my early childhood that god is good, all his actions are fair and just and if something bad happens, it's because we're not "good Christians". The bible authors claimed that the Earth was created first, yet astrophysical science has established that the Sun formed first and then the cooling gaseous matter formed the planets thereafter.
