Sister, as always your input and opinion matter and is much valued by your viewers.
To add a note to your opinion, I have few friends and family members who - some bought and some built their house.
From their as well as many Ethiopians experience of buying and building a house, predominately vast majority of the people choose to buy already built house rather than building one.

    • @princesslivingfree

Yes, that may have been the case before, but buying houses that are already built has become SO expensive. The houses that I’m talking about cost around $300,000 (USD!) or more.

From experience, I had to scrap off of the foundation, which was about ETB1 Million( back in 2020) and build from scratch.

I’m talking about people using low quality materials. Typically, it would result in plumbing issues, doors and windows not being sealed properly, broken fixtures, and cracks in the walls. Really, it’s just minor inconveniences, but for the cost of the house, it’s not acceptable, in my opinion. Not like the house would fall down or something.

Hello sis. Prices have really gone up especially in and around the capital city, Addis Ababa. There’s a pretty wide range depending on the size and location. For the Addis area, I would say the price is between 6 million and 10 million birr for a plot of land. The price of an already constructed home will be twice that amount.
