I've always learned to install the pallet fork & bridge last so you can see the train wheels turn freely while installing the train bridge. It makes it a lot easier & safer.
Yes you are correct, it is the better way to do it. However, I formed some bad habits over the years and this is the way I do it. Not right, just used to it.
Well done bro I have aye nice Elgin pocket watch 1900 hundreds plus many other watches mainly dive watches.it’s great to see aye novice learn this fascinating 🧐 trade .cheers bro from little old New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you very much, I do agree it is a beautiful movement! I absolutely love the fishscale and cross hatched movements. Even with the advancement of oils, we still have to compete with the fact they are not dust proof and that can quickly add to "gumming" up on these....
It is impossible to tell you what the watch is worth without knowing anything about it 16s 18s etc, condition, dial, what movement it is ie model, case and if it works or not.
@tonyaxeman4381 i agree with too much oil in an engine is a bad thing. That is why there is exact amounts to be in the engine maked in the manual and sometimes written under the hood. My statement was when Appling to parts and gaskets as lubrication where no exact measurements are referenced or required. Hope that clears up your confusion.
finally someone cool with a personality in this biz. love it. learning a lot
Thank you very much!!!
I still don’t know how you remember where it all goes - so cool!!

Nice! I'll be back
That is great to hear! Thank you.
I got abe Lincoln Illinois watch company pocket watch
Those are very nice as well.
Maybe synthetic oils? 21st century! They last without gumming up. I'd vote for far less on those cap jewels. Beautiful movement for sure.

What is mine worth

too much oil indeed. You put 10x too much on those cap jewels. Should be only a dot that doesn't leave the center
Thanks for watching, love the feedback and input .
Having too much oil in a engine is as bad as not having enough oil in it. Where did you go to school ?
