I am often asked about my tools. And here you can find High quality tools that I use and can recommend: Pfei: amzn.to/2MyxzIc Two Cherries (Kirschen): amzn.to/3cGlb3F One of my favorite knives amzn.to/3cF2i0M Good set of Gouges and Chisels for Beginners amzn.to/3euyc1K But it still needs a knife. And don't forget that even the highest quality tool requires timely sharpening.
I wish there were a tutorial for this. Although it would probably be a 10 part series with how complex it is. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL though. And not only is the carving amazing, but your painting work as well. Thanks for sharing even this process with us. I have to imagine you've been doing this for a long time, so I shouldn't get discouraged as a beginner if I'm not cranking out marvelous work such as this. 😅
Such amazing attention to detail with incredible technique. Would love to see tutorial videos like this from you showing longer step by steps highlighting your techniques for all to learn so this level in carving is inspiring to keep the art alive. Please show more indepth vids going forward - thanks for sharing
I just love the use of the big gouge and the side of the work table as a wedge! Someone who was born with a gouge less a knife in the hand! Excellent Job my dude!!! I think i've seen your work on Etsy.
Hey, there. Great video. Here's a tip for everyone: Fed up with rising costs of Basswood, I went looking for an alternative and found it in my own backyard- Aspen (aka Quaking Aspen). It takes a knife just like Basswood and is FREE where I live while Basswood prices/bf are currently running anywhere from $6.00 up to ludicrous amounts. Don't let the romantic charm of using Basswood blind you to reality; there are alternatives. Final Note: If you do woodburning, Aspen also takes burns just as well as Basswood.
That’s just beautiful. I haven’t carved anything in over a decade and I was just beginning then. This is inspiring me to pick it up again and my 12 year old daughter wants to learn as well. I hope you keep making videos.
I totally love owls and always have. The soundless phantom of the moonlit sky! The angel of death to that corn field rodent or barn mouse! That sound in the night over in the late evening forest. You have captivated his vigilance and his watchfulness. His hearing is so acute he can hear to squeak of a vole in a hayfield and from his high perch he silently glides into action. That deadly swoop! That swift and final action. And back to his perch to call to his fellows with his brief victory song: a soft “woo! woo-hoo!” Last night as I lay and soaked in the old stock tank at the end of my long hot day, I heard him! He was far away. A farmers friend. Nature at its best. Thank you so much for embodying those sounds of the night! Thank you for your skill. Thank you for this channel.
Hello David! Thank you so much for all you comments. I'm very glad that you liked my work. If I ever start teaching wood carving, I will definitely let everyone know about it. All the best, Egor
I would have really loved to watch that in real time. Your skill speaks volumes. Saw a bunch of techniques I haven't seen before and would love to hear you talk through some of the work you are doing. Great owl!
Jason Kinney I agree with you, there are a lot of skills I have not come across and would love a video explaining these. I have also noted the way in which the carving chisels are handled, something I will have to try.
go to Settings, "looks like a cog wheel" on the video change the "Normal" speed to 25%. That will slow the video down. When finished, go back to normal speed.
We have a wooden furniture shop and there's always excess blocks of wood. I've always had the thought of learning wood carving and seeing your process is very inspirational.
You are a great artist and your videos have such a good energy! I'm happy you popped up in my recommended because I can't wait to see your channel explode! Love from Denmark
beautiful work! i loved how you textured the belly and head :) not a fan of the music lol may i suggest you theme them to what your carving like nature sounds with the odd owl hooting :)
I love it it is one cute little owl. I'm in the process of carving Big Al slow down by the fact I just had cataract surgery. It won't be long I'll be back on E yours is excellent
Wow, thanks for the video, this has changed how I view hand carving. I typically use only a whittling knife and it takes forever to get down to the base shape that I have a hard time spending the time to put in the detail work. I would definitely benefit if you made a video on your tools and effective sharpening of said tools. I have a small curved chisel set but have found sharpening them to be useable very difficult. nicely done for your first video!
@@LindenBark , It honestly was. Sometimes I struggle with following along to other videos because of hands getting in the way or bad lighting. But your video was really crisp. An amazing first video for a new channel!
@@benespach4873 Thanks again! =) On the POV video, the work is clearly visible, but there is also a minus, the picture shakes quite a lot, especially when I work with large chisels.
Fantastic craftsmanship!very inspiring,so much so I think I'm going to be giving it a go! Music on video very annoying though.created more of a stressful vibe ,whereas I imagine carving to be very calming . thanks for the inspiration I'm off to look at whittling tools!
Hey, thanks for the great video. I've been following you on Instagram for a while, I'm glad that you now have a UA-cam channel. Subscribed! greetings Andreas

What kind of wood do you use, i’m starting on this of carving, you inspired me to do this and with what kind of wood can i use, pinewood ?
When starting out, which tools would you recommend buying first? 😅😊
Lastima la música arruina el vídeo
Wow nice! Well done! One only thing, for me the music sort of stressful for this, I have to turn it of. But, thats just me.
Na me too
Me 3
Yeah the music sucks
I made it one minute in and quit.
ok boomer
I really enjoyed watching your video. It helps a beginner as myself.

Can watching your hands moving and carving all day after a stressful day at work. So talented and artistic. 🤩🥰
More videos please!! I used this as a makeshift tutorial and made my own amateur version of the owl, and it was awesome. Thank you!
I would have really loved to watch that in real time. Your skill speaks volumes. Saw a bunch of techniques I haven't seen before and would love to hear you talk through some of the work you are doing.
Great owl!
Many thanks! May be in future. I just started and have not quite mastered.🙂
I really enjoy how you do root details. Where have you learned to carve?

Really interesting especially the textures, and working securely without any clamping. Amazing. Beautiful design as well.
I don’t even think about using clamps. Perhaps they are necessary when working with very hard wood. Thank you! :)
Amazing woodworking Projects
