Honestly, after watching The First and Cagliastro, i really love the parallels Laetitia and Clarisse have: both were trapped in a bad situation, have a connection to Lupin in some sort of way and wanted to join him. But both have a very different dynamic with him. Clarisse is still young, physically and mentally. She barely came out of a situation where she was forced into marrying a middle-aged man the moment she graduated high school. She didn't know herself more and had her whole life ahead. Lupin didn't want her to be too dependant of him, so he left with a goodbye. Zenigata even said he did "steal" her heart, even if it wasn't his intention. Laetitia already knew what she wanted in her life. She had a precise goal and was more independant. Lupin admired her for her skills, could count on her and, potentially, did fall for her. But he knew she didn't reach her full potential yet, and wanted to see the best version of herself. So, before leaving, he did promise to see her again. The ending lyrics, from Laetitia point of view, even said: "You gave love to my chest, without stealing it". Even if Cagliastro is the better movie, i prefer the relationship between Lupin and Laetitia way more.
I just watch Cagliastro for the first time and I 100% agree. I don’t really like the I’m grown up now and I still love you. I also never got Charisse’s appeal
Im really glad Laetitia is getting a lot of love. Even if she is a little bit of an archetype, she at least was very useful through out the movie and was actually an integral part. She was very sweet and was treated not as a 2D character but was given some depth. Personally I like The First a little more than Cagliostro, but I know I am the minority in that opinion. Both movies are still great and deserve all the praise they receive!
Damn... this really changed my perspective on Laetitia, I only saw the movie once and I just kinda agreed with the general consensus of "Ah well, it's yet another Clarisse stand-in, whatever" but while she was definitely influenced by her (like many other girl-of-the-week characters in several TV specials), Laetitia still stands on her own and she's maybe even better. Clarisse really has to thank HER MOVIE and the way Miyazaki's execution elevated the super basic "save the princess" plot, but ignoring everything else around her, yeah, I think I actually prefer Laetitia when judged back-to-back. It would be further interesting and more distinct if she actually DOES come back in another CGI movie and maybe ends up becoming Lupin's true love. The CGI films can be their own continuity and do some things differently from classic canon IMO
So basically Clarisse is like Lupin's daughter while Laetitia is a potential colleague? I havent forgotten that the Lupin in Cagliostro is meant to be an older version and he first met her when she was a child. Makes sense why he's overprotective with the former while the latter they both feel like talking at the same level
@@lupinsredjacket3191 I always thought it would be about Lupin trying to figure out a way to have one, if not the greatest treasure of the world, in a forgotten civilization, with many dark secrets. But he can't do it, even with his crew, since he doesn't have enough archeological knowledge. So, he will ask Laetitia's help after she finished her studies, and eventually, she'll join them for a new adventure. It's very classic for a Lupin movie 😂 But it would be a good way for Laetitia to use all of the knowledge she acquired in her university. They could even focuse more on the story, giving us a better vilain, and the interactions between the members of the gang. 😄
1 year late, but just wanted to say, the english dub is weird. In the spanish subs she says “you! big thief!” In reply to Lupin having stole her tesis and sending it to Boston university. But yeah, she was being cute about it.
I really like them together. Someone made a complaint she is not as zany as the other characters which I get but I liked her. This is my first Lupin movie btw

Omg mine too, I really like her character in this move and relationship with lupin. Matter of fact she’s one of my favorite token girl characters in the lupin franchise such as Clarisse, Maria, and Diana
I’ve seen a lot of lupin movies but I like it when there is a sort of normal person in the mix bouncing off these zany characters. It’s grounding and often very funny or very sincere and sweet
I think Laetitia is very serviceable at best. Nothing wrong with that mind you. After being exposed to Ami from Part 5 and Maki from Blood Seal of the Eternal Mermaid, Laetitia is more so in the "meh" category. She doesn't offend me or impress me. But hey more power to you for enjoying her character 👍
It's unfortunate that Lupin can never end up with a woman from his countless movies like Laetitia here. Over the years there have been several women who fell in love with Lupin and who asked him to stay with them. Clarisse from Castle of Cagliostro, Lara from Twilight Gemini, Ellen from Island of Assassins (well she died before she could ask Lupin but oh well still counts), Rebecca from Part 4 and Laetitia to name just a few (I'm also overlooking the countless teenage girls that promised to hook up with him when they're older like Ami from Part 5). But at the end of the day Lupin represents freedom and thus he can never be in a conventional relationship. This is also why the only woman her can ever trully be with is Fujiko. Cause like Lupin, she too can never be in a conventional relationship. So the 2 of them end up having this on and off relationship (they tried settling down with each other between parts 4 and 5 but broke up cause both of them thought that life was too boring).
Lupin's lifestyle definitely isn't geared towards any conventional romance that's for sure. The irony is that the exact same qualities that make him attractive also prevent him from seriously committing. Even in the case of a woman who shares a lot of similarities with him such as Fujiko, the practical barriers aren't necessarily fixed since the arrangement only works as long as their life trajectories run parallel. Lupin simply can't tie his life to someone else. It would require someone both willing and able to keep up with him every step of the way.
i love the japanese 3d style. instead of making it super realistic or super cartoony, they keep it cool with a realistic enough body shape with a little bit exaggerated facial features. i have seen this in lupin3the1st, i've seen this in ff7, appleseed etc. it really has that charisma. they look good, but not unrealistically good. they don't look realistically flat either.
Maybe its just because this movie was my Lupin gateway, but i dont really get why people call Laetitia boring. She's an insecure nerd who gets in over her head when all she wants is to study and learn more about the world. Sure, she might not be the MOST dynamic character in the series, but her fresh-faced naivete in the face of the Lupin antics was pretty dang relatable, not to mention understandable.
I ship 'em, but then I remember that Lupin has that effect on nearly every woman he crosses. But it was really cute how she tried to get close to him only to get cut short
Lupin treats her more like a daughter than anything. He teases her and what not but you can tell he thinks she's way too young for him. She definitely harbors feelings for him but if she ever confesses I'm pretty sure Lupin will reject her 😅
Nah, Disney could never be this bouncy and fluid 100% of the time. (Closest they've gotten is Camilo from Encanto.) Feels more like Dreamworks or Hotel Transylvania.
I MUCH prefer Laetitia over Fujiko when it comes to Lupin. For one she didn’t blush or anything and she called Lupin out saying he wouldn’t gain anything by flirting with her. Plus I like how he smiles when looking at her~
Don't get me wrong, I like certain aspects of Fujiko, but personally (and I'm aware I am probably in somewhat of the minority for saying this) I think Laetitia would be better for Lupin. I hope we get a "Lupin III: The Second" or something similar with Laetitia having graduated from university as a fully-trained rookie archaeologist. She *could* potentially become a vital member of this movie universe's version of Lupin III! 😁💖 Edit: Also, Laetitia is such a cutie! 😍

Parts 4, 5, and 6 have ongoing storylines. If you're up for some fun hijinks, hit up Part 2, has no ongoing storylines. Also, for movie recommendations, The Castle of Cagliostro.
I always have this habit of wondering what happens to characters after the movie if there is no sequel. Like with castle of Cagliostro I like to think Clarisse found someone nice to marry or she ruled as a single ruler never truly moving passed Lupin, offering him asylum if needed. With Laetitia I see her becoming a moonlight thief kinda like Fujiko where she can put on a persona and act her way through. But she doesn’t seem like the type to play the long con as much as being a wallflower and getting in and out quickly and quietly. In other words but relying more on stealth and her brains rather than her body.
Well if you saw Part 4 she gets a cameo from a flashback about the moment she gets crowned as the new ruler, and she seems very happy about it, and in Part 5 before the final confrontation Lupin goes to recover and make a plan to the castle, which means Clarisse is still close friends with him helping to assist him in any tough situation, I really hope Letitia at least gets something like that in the future
Lupin really reminds me of Sun Wukong and Low key Luffy from One Piece, Incredibly Smart, Cheeky, Hilarious, Full of Mischief, Outgoing, has a disrespect for the law, a shitload of charm that allows him to have a huge gang of friends. A Likeable Bad Boy with a heart of gold and but still loves to get under people skins whether it's unintentional or not. I think I might have a new crush.
To be fair, Lupin III has a long history all the way back to the 1960's, and has always been super successful in Japan. One Piece only started its run back in 1997. Its very likely that the Creators and artists of One Piece could have been inspired by Lupin III. Its so interesting all the things Lupin III has influenced. Miyazaki, Metal Gear Solid, and even Kanye West have had direct influence from Lupin III. It's really cool to read into.

A Disney princess, I must wonder, which one? I could go with Rapunzel, since Punz has the tragic backstory of being stolen from her family, a complicated paternal-child with her kidnapper, and the whole falling in love with a thief who legitimately cares about her; plus, despite being inexperienced, Punz is able to keep up with her thief, just like Laetitia is doing with hers. I am most sure that Laetitia is Rapunzel reincarnated, she just needs a chance to marry her thief and be his eternal companion 🥰. If not that, then I’ll drop the comparisons with disappointment 😢
This movie was my first introduction to Lupin and god I love the character now. I've always preferred to idolize thief characters because they're just so damn fun, plus a gentleman thief? Sign me up, their chemistry in the movie was great to.

It is so cute to see them together
Bro got the ultimate lightskin stare rizz the whole time 💀💀💀💀
This movie was my first introduction to Lupin and god I love the character now. I've always preferred to idolize thief characters because they're just so damn fun, plus a gentleman thief? Sign me up, their chemistry in the movie was great to.
lupin gave off such a stupid big brother vibe
There both like a couple in a group project

This is literally the only voice actor I will listen to for Lupin
By the way I find that „laetitia“ is just the most stereotypical and PERFECT name for her😂
I'm sorry but I cant see lupan without seeing a monkey at the same time lol
