Bro I was part of the crew on the film, just went to the Philly screening about a week ago and I was floored with how well the CG fit into the film. Phenomenal work man!
I love positivity bro. This great news!!!! Only 19 lol Ima be sticking with your videos till you stop lol I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where you are in 5 years. Probably a monk editing videos in a different dimension lol Keep up the good work.
I recognized the Nuke course in there, happy to see it helped on your journey! Fantastic work! That's a painstakingly difficult shot to track. Impressive to grind and learn all that in such a short time. Keep it up man!
yooo the man himself! I have really fond memories of learning Nuke for the first time late at night, taking notes on your compositing courses, and thinking what a time it was to be alive haha
bro mentioned birdemic and instantly felt a connection to him because I know damn well he probably first heard of that from corridor crew haha. that being said, as a fellow freelance vfx artist this is really inspiring and i love how you detailed your journey with this video working on the movie. Huge Danny fan myself and I've yet to see the movie but getting this behind the scenes taste of what's to come really inspired me. Great job man.
as a VFX Student, this video is making me believe that i will pull off my VFX Project 100%..... What a crazy video... you could achieve this much in that much time..
Excellent work man! You have a very positive and honest attitude. Not only did you achieve the shots you were asked to do but you also have a talent as a storyteller. This video was told masterfully. This is the first video of yours I've watched. I will check your other videos.
Incredible my friend. Danny is my favorite youtuber as well. That's a dream come true for sure. Thanks for documenting the journey. Your positive attitude and work ethic is insane. Good job man.
Gotta say I’ve been watching your videos and think it’s such a breath of fresh air on UA-cam. It’s nice to see genuine content the way you are making it! I really like what you’ve got going here keep it up man😁👍
I have found your channel today and i'm blown away by the Production Quality. I'm currently watching all of your Videos and i found them very interissting. Keep up the good work.
4:38 i’m *literally* laughing out loud at how impossible what you just said sounds!😂😂😂😂 9:19 not the crux of the whole project!😂 and not me noticing that that’s a climbing pun.😂😂 *edit* part 3 of this comment: this video and you are hiiiggghhhhllyy underrated.😮👏👏👏
Bro, these situations are like growing on steroids... all skills gained in compressed time frame! So, advice to newbies: "Is blender hard? How much does it take to learn it?" - just get some basic skills in Blender and then jump into "scary" project, then realize your true worth as an artist, fail and rise again - and here is your growth! Awesome effort and dedication, man! I wish you more challenging project in future!
The effort you put in this project is so great I don't know if anyone can comprehend. That 3rd shot is hell on earth for VFX artists. I don't know why Danny did not called a VFX supervisor during the shooting. Just some tracking markers or shooting in log/raw could have benefited you a lot better. You did great and way beyond what a normal VFX is willing to do. That 3rd shot will give me nightmares ahaha
“When hard working people do what they like, they are unstoppable.” - Blue Period(Anime) It’s so exciting to see that you are on your dream path. Congratulations man Be the best you!🎉
Props!! Its great to see that young people like you (19) try new things and discover themselves spiritually and mentally. (im 17 myself) since you've said that you would read all comments in a previous video, imma shoot my shot here (since i usually don't write comments). so i'm from germany and i have heard about that "zettelkasten" method where you write things on something that's actually called "kartei karte" in german. so i started to use that method and it makes total sense scientifically and it helps a lot REALLY! but i have 1 problem with the method you showed, its the "connection" part and every time i write something to remember i struggle to come up with a connection. if you have nothing against it, could you show some of your "zettelkasten" because this will be the easiest way to understand how exactly to do them (or explain it again in here). i'm sure it will help A LOT of people who want to implement that to their lives. PS: much respect man you are way further that people in their 30s!!
I was having a bad mood but watching this video made me enthusiastic and inspired once again, thanks bro , also the vfx was great , I'm also and early vfx artist .
My dream job 😢. Has to quit and fall For corporate. Make more than I prob would in vfx but my heart is not there. Sadly reality is not as plain as following dreams and happiness. Enjoy it my friend! Live the dream for the rest of us.
Never really thought about the process behind these projects.. Hardwork is not just a word to describe ur efforts here.. Another impressive and quality content. All the best bro.
Bro congrats! So proud of you and it was dope seeing you at the Portland premiere, it didn’t even cross my mind that the geese and maverick were CGI 🤯 you crushed it!
I appreciate watching your videos, they are just so inspirational. I've just started reading Ultralearning by Scott Young and just realized how many different Ultralearning projects you have taken on. Being able to learn hard things completely from scratch, it really is inspiring. I want to do the same as you.
This is amazing! Seeing you adapt to the adversities you face is inspiring and entertaining. I have been learning blender for like 3 months now. I have struggled a bit and I was curious if you have any recommendations on youtube channels that have helped you? Or maybe any tips in general? Thanks keep it up!
@ianhubert is the absolute goat, im on his Patreon too. Obviously first do the donut tutorial haha. A few years back i also bought a course on making nature environments which got me past that beginner hurdle. Overall, having a project is sooo useful. Once you want to learn something specific you can always find tutorials on that subject
Dude I saw the movie like 3 weeks ago and that scene of the baby bird looked so nasty I honestly thought they actually had a real baby bird in the grass (or at least a realistic puppet). Great job man, hope to see more in the future!
Hey this was really well put together. I am a professional VFX artist who went through something very similar on my first job out of school years ago. Signed up for way more than I knew how to do and for very little pay. It ended up being the work that got me my first studio job. That being said I want to give you some feedback on the final product. I don't think the birds look photoreal at all, especially when they fly away. You need to make sure you are matching black and white points of the CG to the footage and constantly over/under expose the viewer to check. I also think the speed of the birds as they take off is too slow and uniform. One tip would be to find a reference video of birds flying away and copy it frame-by-frame. There is also no shame in buying high quality 3D models for things that you don't have time to model. You could have benefited from a high quality bird model with feathers. You also need to be careful of contact points with the ground or water. For both the baby bird on the grass and geese on the water you used flat planes as shadow catchers. Neither of those surfaces should have been perfectly flat. For the grass, you should have distorted the plane a bit and the water should have had some ripples. I hope this feedback is helpful and I wish you luck on your VFX journey.
Hi, I’d just like to say that you’ve convinced me to use your sirianni notes method. You see, I’m creating a schedule where I do homeschool 7 days a week and 2 days worth of working everyday for a year to graduate as fast as possible. And this will take the usage of memory techniques such as the memory palace, spaced repetition, pomodoro method, and likely more alongside yours now, thanks for the technique
Such an amazing journey! I am starting my journey as a VFX Artist myself and this video was very helpful/inspiring (also because I’m 19 yo too😅😅) the shot came out amazing and I can’t believe the amount of skills you gained in such a short time! Hope you keep growing and doing projects like this!
Also it would be great if you would like make some tutorials about editing and VFX..I wanna learn it from you and it's a channel for learning right!???
This is so great and amazing time spent learning a new software 😮 but honestly I would have paid a Geese handler fed them in the water and just did that take a whole bunch of times till I got the shot 😅 but big ups to the effort!!
@@State-Of-Mind I guess it's the matter of budget, time and what would look best visually. VFX has opened our minds to see what is just not possible practically. All for it if it's done really well and that just takes lots of time.
Hi i just finished watching all your vids and i know that i said this before in a comment on another vid but i think you really may be a big idol of mine. Everything ive seen you do ive been like "ohh cool i would do everything to be able to ..." and i just wanted you to know that. Also do you have a good book recommendation about something that blew your mind.
Your learning methods are INCREDIBLE ! Im a 3d character and background modelling supervisor and have worked on many films, games. commercials VR etc... And I have never seen anyone in my 23 years in the industry do that with no knowledge of VFX in that many compact days and plus using NUKE ! Totally impressive ! I will watch more of your learning methods and will try to apply it. But just letting you know VFX is super tough and lots of rinse and repeat. I suggest you learn to trade the stock market / trading options. Will want to see your skill tested in there because there is emotions and patience at play and I am sure you will make a lot of money ! if you overcome it :)
It's really difficult process to make anything from scratch and takes huge patience, time and equipment but anyways It's was so great to know that you were a part of his feature film 👀👀✨💞
When you said that scene wasn't trackable I screamed "frame by frame!" and died laughing when you did it. Should've been a coder or a lawyer or something, you wanna be a VFX artist? There you go. Btw you don't have to pay 12k for nuke if you know what I mean😉
lmaoo it was the only option😔 also yeah you can get Nuke for free if you're a student so i used my sister's email to get it - literally saved me, i'm so glad they have that available
Bro I was part of the crew on the film, just went to the Philly screening about a week ago and I was floored with how well the CG fit into the film. Phenomenal work man!
YOOOOO that makes me so hyped haha! Man, thank you sm
Keep Moving Forward. You have our support.

hmm i dont know if you notice but the one duck from the right at the beginning fell little off
