Best Modem/Router for FTTH Upgrade? | DSL AX82U vs TUF AX5400

- Since I've recently gotten a full fiber to the home setup, giving me a nice gigabit connection, I've felt the need for a modem upgrade (well I actually got rid of the modem and simply got a router in the end, but that's in the video) since an aftermarket modem from Asus or TP-Link etc. will give you a HUGE wifi speed and range increase over the stock one.
Initially, I simply looked at the specs a bit and decided "Okay, the best modem on the market, without counting those extremely overpriced like the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro, clearly is the Asus DSL AX82U. So I simply bought that. The thing is, as you will see watching the video, even though it's a really good modem it has a bit of an outdated UI and still from Asus, the TUF AX5400 is actually better software wise, while packing the exact same processor and switches inside. You lose the support for a modem, but that's not really needed if you have a full fiber setup!

Io ora sono con fastweb 2.4ghz e vado sui 90 mbps con il cavo lan connesso al computer.
Avrò qualche tipo di aumento di connessione lan o è solo aumento riguardo la connessione wireless del telefono? Grazie per il tuo aiuto
Via LAN cambia poco, a meno che tu non abbia tantissimo dispositivi connessi. Ma se hai un modem pessimo la differenza la vedi. In wireless cambia un sacco però!

It’s explained in the video! Basically one is a modem router that also supports DSL fiber (non-FTTH) and the other one is just a fiber modem / normal router

Purtroppo no, non è autoconfigurante. Nel mio caso sì, molto meglio averlo nativo come modem/router piuttosto che averne due separati!
will asus rt ax 82u works with fiber connection. i liked the design and want to buy it. or should i go with ax86u it it 40 bucks more. it has only 2 or 3 more feture.my wifi connection is not so fast.will the extra 40 doller rauter be worth
Yup it will work with Fiber! Personally I’d save the 40 bucks, you wouldn’t notice any difference really!
Are DSL AX82U and RT AX82 the same thing? If it's right, why do they have different names?
RT-AX82U is only a home router. the DSL-AX82U is a modem-router.

They would both be perfect, but yes you do need a very good router!
