    Beautiful sound, nothing like a bent Aussie 8. Reckon I could hear that in Shepp if the wind was right.

      You better post up a vid mate . Nothing nicer than a fresh V8 in a wooden hull on glassy water !!

      ok I think, here's a quick run I did in December- ua-cam.com/video/qDRe8ebPlP8/v-deo.html
      even tho I am not an expert, made too many mistakes to list etc etc. Gotta love the holden 308 that keeps going anyway!!

    NICE JOB... WHY THOSE HUGE BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST?? OR i AM MISTAKING??

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  4 роки тому +1

      no smoke, just water, this is a boat engine and it is a water cooled exhaust, the cooling water is ejected straight out the exhausts

    • @sepasgozar
      @sepasgozar 4 роки тому

      @@AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna , thanks for getting back to me, I am actually aware the engine belongs to inboard ski boat, but it seems some black smoke coming out of the exhaust along with water, when you increased the RPM...
      but as you corrected me, fortunately it was the film mistake, gave me that vision...
      by the way I have a boat with Crusader marine 350ci, 260 HP engine that is slept for almost 15 years and needs to be fixed... I really enjoyed to watch your great job:-)

    why is there water comming from the exhaust?

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  9 років тому +11

      hiya, it is a marinised 308, for my boat, so the water cooling systems pulls water from the river (when it floating!) and runs it thru the cooled exhaust manifolds, then thru the engine block/heads, then out the exhaust to keep the exhaust pipes cool and back into the river.

    • @BlueonGoldZ
      @BlueonGoldZ 7 років тому +3

      Does this mean that your cooling system isn't a closed/sealed system?

    Yep,my Chevy LS1 sounded like that before I bolted the mufflers onto the headers, that was when I replaced the hydraulic lifters & timing chain kit.
    I ran it that way before fitting the radiator belts, power steering pump, water pump,etc to make sure that the engine was o.k.,it was loud !

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  5 років тому

      yep, good thing about the boat is you dont need any of that!! it still sounds this loud on the water, check out 4min.05sec ---> ua-cam.com/video/Nr1Yf4O40Jw/v-deo.html

    why is there so much water coming out of the exaughst?

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  4 роки тому

      hiya. this engine is for my boat, and the cooling system uses water straight from the river, sucked up thru an inlet in the boat hull thru the engine, and then returned via the exhaust to the river. the rubber pipe connected to the exhaust is the outlet of the cooling system being fed into the exhaust for return to the river. this also helps cool the exhaust system in the boat as it is inboard.

  • @samjohnson4014

    Can you time that from the flywheel end?

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  6 років тому +1

      this is an engine for a boat, and the modifications include a mark for TDC on the flywheel and the front engine mount frame. You can time using these marks. There is no vacuum advance on this engine, and I set the advance somewhere around 10 deg.ATDC.

  • @paullangford8179

    Sounds good an healthy. Is this the style where the mufflers go on the head, rather than on the motor?

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  8 років тому

      Paul, sounds better in the boat! There are no mufflers on the engine at all. The big manifold is for the water cooling around the exhaust, and the outlet pipes which keeps everything cool inside the boat.

    This certainly does not look like a first time start-up. get real and look at the prep work on this unit. this is a rebuild so it has to start up. can only fool the fools.

    • @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna
      @AnthonyandJeanetteSailingMinna  Рік тому

      not sure what your point is? read the desription, i rebuilt the engine, started it the night before, then recorded this startup. it's still running strong btw.

      that was first time start, tuned close , but got it dialed in now. has to replaced the jets for bigger ones, and change the cam to get rid of a flat spot.
