The song portrays a deeply introspective struggle with self-doubt, frustration, and the emotional cost of chasing a dream. It questions whether the sacrifices made-financial instability, mental strain, and emotional burnout-are worth it. The conflicting voices in the song reflect the narrator's own insecurities as well as external pressures, painting a raw and honest picture of the anxieties tied to ambition. The collaboration between Dead Poet Society and The Warning on "Hurt" started pretty organically. It all kicked off when The Warning was working on Keep Me Fed with producer Anton DeLost, who also produced Dead Poet Society’s album Fission. When "Hurt" dropped, The Warning heard it in the studio and instantly became fans, even congratulating Anton on the track’s success. Then came Shiprocked, where The Warning and Dead Poet Society first met. Paulina from The Warning was seen singing along to "Hurt" on social media, and Dead Poet Society noticed. The Warning got to hear the song live for the first time, which only made them more excited about it. The day before Aftershock, Jack Underkofler from Dead Poet Society reached out to Ale via Instagram to see if any of the band members wanted to perform "Hurt" with them on stage. Paulina immediately responded, saying she would love to. That performance brought everything together, and both bands started talking about recording a version together. If you want to check out this live performance, I have a video on my channel that uses three videos side by side and features the one with the best sound for the audio. In the new studio version, the instrumentals remain the same as the original track, played by Dead Poet Society. Dany, Pau, and Ale from The Warning contribute backing vocals, with Jack, Pau, and Dany sharing lead vocal duties. The vocal arrangement is as follows: the first verse and chorus are sung by Jack Underkofler, the second verse is sung by Dany with either Pau or Ale joining in harmonies during the second half, and the second chorus features either Pau or Dany. Jack starts off the bridge, then it switches to Pau. The final chorus features everyone singing together.
Basically, Anton DeLost produced both of these bands latest albums. While recording Keep Me Fed, The Warning listened to DPS & Pau fell in love with this song. Both bands were on ShipRocked early in 2025, there’s video of Pau dancing/singing to it as part of her 22nd birthday celebration. Fast forward to the Aftershock festival in the summer, DPS asks if TW wants to join them on stage for the song - Pau accepts & kills it. Sometime after that TW record their vocals & voila. Great song, great collaboration - absolutely love it! ❤Agreed that there’s a Muse sound to it, both bands have been influenced by them. Excellent reaction - I definitely want to hear more from DPS, I love their sound. Thanks!
@@hardknox1917they seem to be doing incredibly well with the new album, and so does dead poet society. I recall when twa was like “who is this guy? Nobody’s heard of dead poet society, nobody important has been produced by him”. The results seem to be very very successful though, so it’s working out for both bands.
@@hardknox1917 Anton Delost produces to the times and as such, songs from KMF actually got played on the radio and the entire album as well as those singles got on various rock charts which is very important to them. Those over produced songs opened doors and ears that would have otherwise have been silent to and that is also important to TW. As for song writing, they wanted to collaborate with other people and when you hear them talk about it, they were in complete control of the song writing sessions. That's how they found Anton and hired him to produce their new music while still maintaining control of the results. 🤘🏽
I won't kill you cuz I agree. I'm a fan of both The Warning and Band-Maid but that song was more focused on introducing people to both bands than just being a great song.
Instrumentally the song sounds identical to their original studio version, so I suspect The Warning just went into a studio and recorded their vocals which were then remixed into the original master. 😎👍
Three different versions I've seen of this song. Pau at Aftershock was insane. Than this audio video and there is another fan video showing a Mashup of DPS video of this song,Pau live, and Dany and Ale singing and playing their instruments lots of views on all three insane
There is alot to say about this collaboration. But just leave it at, this is a total foot-stomping banger. Both bands are currently benefiting greatly from this.
DPS is doing a couple of gigs in January, so I'm hoping TW will join them on stage for at least one of the shows and someone will record that for posterity.
They picked such a great song to work with. You’ll definitely need to take a look at the live with Pau to get a better feel for it. Or as she’s introduced as Pauuuuuuuleeeeeena. 😅😅😅😅. DPS also gives me strong Royal Blood vibes, and I think this song is pretty representative.
Almost anything with the Warning involved is bound to have a bit of Muse sound in there somewhere. Their bass sound and the use of arpeggios in particular. Not saying that as a bad thing.
Rachel I like the band but I have a question in this directly related to you I heard you sing a little bit of the song and well I like what I heard when are we going to hear something that you have song I kind of like the way your voice sound I'd like to hear something that you sang or have song your friend Michael Magic Woman

Anton delost over produces and the girls need to go back to writing their own songs like a real authentic band should be .

Pau's run, near the middle - chef's kiss.
Always love your reactions!
Thank you, for sharing!
Don’t kill me! I really like this one way more than the collab with Band-Maid. Dany’s voice in the second verse is just heavenly😊
Nearly any Collab is going to be better than the BM one. It was a good publicity exercise, but was just irritating to listen to.

Totalmente de acuerdo contigo

Correct! Somebody checked the credits. Only new vocals by the Warning.
This song is so catchy, and the Dany verse is chef's kiss. I'm happy to see you react to it as I'm sure you know, lol.

Those gigs are in Mexico right? 🤔🤘🏽
Van a coincidir en un festival en marzo donde también estará Muse.
Are those gigs in Mexico?
DPA + DPS = 🔥
Well adding to my warning playlist

Lead singer of DPS credits Royal Blood as an inspiration. 🤘🏽
The end gives me Rage Against vibes
Ray looks like Harry Potter substitute teacher in this one.
It is like a cross of "Rock & Rap"!?😏🤘
Def a cool song the outro is awesome .
1:50 The correct musical term you are searching for here is "DUH-DUNK DUH-DUNK"!! ;)

🤘🤘🤘
Avenged Sevenfold - God Hates Us Live at Rock Am Ring it’s one of their best performances to date !
❤✌🤘⚡🔥

Sí, son su mayor inspiración

I wasn’t a fan of Tiny Tim style singing when he did it, that hasn’t changed over time. 😉
Mi amor eterno ❤eres bellísima
