When Finlay yanked Jones by the hair and Jones went ballistic after that, it reminded me of Al Snow's lecture mentioning how people get hot when they get their hair pulled but wrestlers forget to sell that in the ring.
Findlay was freaking amazing. He could get soooooo much heat! And a good performer and ring psychology and put over bbyfaces really well. A Findlay/Dynamite tag team would have been tremendous!

DQ title changes are the perfect way to ensure the heels lose a tactic. The "public warning" system gave further legitimacy and allowed for cleverer cheating that the old "ref looking the other way" spot. Still, if I was Fit, I'd be annoyed for getting DQ'd over a Shining Wizard.

Finlay's always had quality gear 10yrs ahead of everyone else. This is '84 and those Power Ranger tights look better than most of the shit anyone was wearin' in '94. His WCW & WWE singlets were the same story.
Fit Finlay's pants look almost identical to Mitsuharu Misawa's here. I always felt Finlay would have been a great fit for AJPW, him vs. Misawa would be a dream match.
Also Saturday afternoons we're all about getting home to watch the wrestling...i can remember if my dad was working he made sure mum recorded it on our betamax...we were not allowed to watch it til dad got home ...great family bonding
One of the things I have always hated about US style wrestling is that silly " no titles change hands on DQ" rule . If you are the champion you are supposed to be the best . Get dq'd and you clearly are not .
I love the British style of wrestling. It's too bad the Admiral-Lord Mountevans rules fell out of favor because they add a lot to the storytelling of the match and make it feel real. I would love to see a modern promotion bring them back even if it's limited to certain matches, kind of like the pure rules matches in Ring of Honor.
Why the heck did Finlay get DQ'd ? For a dropkick ? This 'public warning' system was clearly (ab)used by the ref to finish up the match after it had gone on too long. Love the insane reaction of the marks in the crowd though. :-)
At minutes 15:24 you can see Marty Jones whisper something to the referee, I assume something like I will leap over your shoulders, at the start of the next round.
Always used to like these two. First one won, then the other. I wonder how many times they fought each other? Don't know about others but I got sick to death of seeing the ugly Paula - on occasions she distracted Finlay's opponent. Totally unfair. I understand it was another one of Crabtree's ideas to have her as his manager after they married.

Its not perfect but It iss so much better than what was going on in American Wrestling at the time . I have never believed that the ropes could fling you back into the middle of the ring against your will . All pro wrestling has been guilty of that faux pas . In the old days the guy who Irish Whipped you to the rope followed you in .
Totally agree. Finlay got nearly all his falls and submissions by first weakening his man with constant illegal moves. I never saw him wrestle once without CONSTANT cheating.

At the end of the day I fink it was a quick way to end the contest. You'll probably find Finlay got the title back 2 weeks later! Lol. I didn't know that Finlay carried on working with Princess Paula after they'd divorced (in 1979) and after he'd married someone else (1983).
