I grew up in the same village as both Joe and Ren, they were inseparable and always up to mischief. Ren would have this cheap 3/4 sized acoustic guitar he carried around everywhere with him. All the years later this song still gets me.

Beautiful, respectful. Did you notice he almost cried whilst introducing the song? Great talent with a great heart.
Joe sadly took his life. In the live performance he messed up on the guitar because he was trying to hold it together I believe. In Ren's song Dear God, he sings about losing two friends before he turned 25 and fighting suicidal thoughts himself. Another son of true emotions and artistry. One of my favorites has to be Crutch featuring Bibi, his former girlfriend. It will move you. But, if you do a reaction, please read Ren's message in the description so you understand the meaning of his art in that song. I'm not saying you do this, but when Ren takes the time to share how he came to write a song channels should respect him enough to read what he wrote so they know the meaning of his lyrics. His birthday is tomorrow, 29th. I think he'll be 34. Debuting a new song. He wrote about it on his community page.

He'll be 33, but there's a second song which directly speaks to Joe, and it's How to be me with Chinchilla, the live performance being from the Menai Bridge, where Joe left this earth from, but his body was never found.
RIP Joe - Freckled Angels is the name of a restaurant still in the town... He meant a lot.
Joes suicide was an event that has haunted Ren ever since and still plays on his mind. It was a beautiful song. Ren X Chinchila 'how to be me' (live) is a perfect song, much more recent, and it again refers to Joe " When he gave up the fight' a quick decision in the night, that stayed with me for all my life. I miss you so."
Ren has such depth to his soul. Its a sad truth that so many genius musicians have such troubles...
If it could not get worse/sadder in the recent Knox interview he goes into Joe and it is even more
tragic and how he could not get to him in time and much more....cheers for posting.

Ren started a duo called Trick The Fox. He was discovered by a talent scout in 2009, when the two were busking, and in 2010, he signed a record deal with Sony Records. In 2013, Trick The Fox was listed as one of the acts performing at Beach Break Live 2013 and their music began to receive airplay. The first time they heard one of their songs on the radio was December 2013, when BBC Radio 1xtra played their song Twista. Sony Records later dropped Ren when he was diagnosed with an illness that affected his ability to perform.
I like the recorded version done live also. He sings with more emotion in that one . This live one is like he's trying to get through the song without crying which is totally understandable. Who am I kidding. EVERY song he does is spectacular!
This for me is rens most beautiful song I've lost more friends from suicide as I did in war who never got the help they needed when we came home ,heart breaking and warming song 💔

Joe sadly took his own life at the age of 19 (jumped off the Menai bridge around 3.00 a.m. on 28 December 2010). Beautiful photograph of them together on your table.
Menai Bridge is also the name of the town beside it

Musically the studio version sounds better, but there’s something beautiful about him performing this song live and only 8 months after the loss. It’s a bit of a mess as it sounds like he is rushing it in places, but who can blame him? I’m sure it’s tough to be able to get through this performance at all. Ren shows some real strength here.

What's interesting is, the Ren x Chinchilla song "How to be Me".....the LIVE version, everyone thinks it's filmed on top of a roof/building .....it's actually filmed on top of a bridge. I'm not sure if it's THE bridge, but it is A Bridge. "How to be Me" ends with this verse:

Oh man. No idea. I thought it was on top of a building too. It fleetingly cross my mind because so many others have been in the basement type scenario up until that one but I really didn't take it much further than that. Man.
I've seen this floated about youtube a lot. How to be me is not filmed on Menai bridge (I live on Anglesey and you definitely couldnt film on there as there's cars driving across it all the time and it's a fairly narrow bridge).

I forget where I had heard this, so take it with a grain of salt and forgive me if im incorrect, but i believe Ren was one of the people that he called from the bridge and Ren couldnt get to him in time. This is why it weighs on him so deeply.

He was born in Wales, but is based in Brighton. I have very close friends in Wales, and Ren does not have a Welsh accent whatsoever, which leads me to believe that he was born in Wales and the family moved early in his life.

I see you have only done a few Ren reactions and was wondering out of all his many songs why you choose this one? Then you mentioned thanks to someone for the pay, now I see why it came up. I'm new to this and didn't know money was exchanged, I thought only (you tube) paid you with subs, likes or something like that.

Reactors pick songs in many ways, some keep lists and note how often something is requested, some do that but give priority to requests from their Patreon members, some go and pick popular videos from the performers own channel. Probably most use a variety of ways. Some just notice everyone is responding to a video, (like hiRen)and jump on the bandwagon.
Most reactors aren’t fully monetised due to copyright claims by artists or their labels, selling merch (like the hat this guy didn’t want) is a more reliable low level money maker.

First thing I've heard of Ren that I like ....not necessarily lyric wise but sonically, I can't stand what I've heard so far, like probably 6 before this... just some of the worst music I've ever listened to, I can catch that has lyrics but I can't make it more than a minute usually. This is a good song all around tho.

Hi, when Ren says the song is dedicated to Joe from Menai Bridge, he's referring to the town. The Welsh name for the town is Porthaethwy, but the English name given to later on is based on Menai suspension bridge, hence calling the town Menai bridge. Can be confusing when people aren't sure if an event has happened on the bridge itself or the town and reading about it in English. Welsh is spoken by the majority of people on the island and it's easier to distinguish between the two in Welsh as you have Bont Borth (Menai suspension bridge) and Porthaethwy (Menai bridge town).
I've seen a lot of people mention that How to be was filmed on the bridge. It wasn't, there's a narrow walkway alongside the road, wouldnt be enough space for that setup (plus there's the noise of the cars you'd need to cancel out).
