We live in Japan, but there used to be dirt-cheap package tours to China, costing about US $200, and three decent meals and sightseeing included for seven days. The Chinese tour guides treated us just like those shown in this video. They told us they receive no money from the tour operators in Japan and provided their services practically for free, so we tourists MUST buy things at souvenir shops they take us to just cover for the cost. So those tour guides abuse not only their own countrymen but also foreign tourists, too.

The problem with these family is their mortgage. Mortgage = no saving for a family with kids. They have no safety net when one parent lost a job. Me, l have a fully paid house, no mortgage in China and have million of RMB saved in the bank, living a 1st tier city. We are currently living of the interest and i CAN retire, but the my job is too high of a salary to quit and retire and all the benefits it provide. Furthermore, l can earn extra during my time off; 1:1 The main adv is that Im a foreigner and can speak some Chinese. That alone, makes me top 10%.

This practice is not right. If you expect tourists to buy stuff, then you should put it in writing and let them know. We now have internet and we don't need tour guides, so all you tour guides will lose your jobs.

I tried one of these "tours" from Shanghai to HK. The best part is I met a young, Chinese girl and countered these tour guides trying to make the other people buy. I never took a travel tour in China again.

You must know in this world there are no FREE lunches but also very CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP lunches.
Maybe lessons should get cheaper? Drive costs down and get a better deal. This is an economic downturn which has come as a shock for many.
The first clip that the tour guide not let her customers take the bus is the clip that was created for Tictok for getting the viewers, not real. You can see this wearing-orange jacket tour guide in other clips for example in the situation that she didn't pay money to the restaurant owner. So if your channel really want to tell the real situation in China, please share the real clip. Please recheck the clip was made up or not.
I’ve seen this before. They go on a cheap trip. The tourist is supposed to buy something. If they don’t buy enough then the tour giver will make them. Truthfully if they are left behind and have to buy a ticket back home it will cost more.

Guys you know what deal is, these drivers take the local tourists to those places, and the agreement between them and the store owners or those who represent them is to have a commission from the amount of sales, they have the receipts to prove it, so the more money the tourists spend the bigger the commission they get by percentage.

But I still can't help but wonder if a lot of this is anti-Chinese propaganda. I can't tell if what is being portrayed is genuine or not.
