It is weird that this is the only video I could find from you for this installation and the rack I got from you does not look like this and has different installation steps. Very irritating. I get that there are multiple models and things have changed, but the rack itself came with no instructions and the video instructions on your website show a different product. Seems like an easy thing to fix.
We'll pass along the request to the team! If you have any questions about assembly please feel free to get in touch with our Product Support team at - radpowerbikes.com/support.
This is definitely not the same as the new rack, but close enough. What I need is a hydraulic brake adjustment video, and a way to dim the second screen. It’s blinding at night.
@@RadPowerElectricBikes I'm very concerned that this was brought to your attention 7 months ago and there's still no update to the video or even written instructions. Is the part defective entirely?
@@squirlmy Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Our Product Support team can give you more information on this. They can be reached at (800) 939-0310 ext. 2 or at radpowerbikes.com/support, and they'll take care of you!
Word of advice. I installed two of these racks, use a little bit of lubricant on the mounting bolt threads. You may have to screw in some and back out a few turns and repeat until snug. Do not force these in because they would be easy to strip.
I had a screw seize up and strip the Allen socket with very light pressure. I was able to get it out with vice grips but now the rear basket only has three screws holding it on. Unless I want to drill it out and use a nut and bolt.
Can you tell me what size are the upper mounting bolts that are needed to attach the upper arms for the RadRover Rear Rack? Also, where can I buy the extension cord needed to connect the brake light?
@@zeukrox9929 Hey there! The dimensions of the RadRover Rear Rack (Legacy) are: 16.5" (length) x 8" (width) x 13" (height). Let us know if we can help answer any other questions!
This is NOT for a RadRover 5 (vid says it is the step through, but OK for the RadRover). Be warned that the supplied extension cable is too short to reach from the taillight, down then back up through the stays to the connector from the controller. One difference I notice is that the wire from the controller is MUCH shorter than the one shown in this video. I had to shortcut one of the stays to make it reach. Will be checking with Rad to see if there is a longer cable.
Agreed: length of connecting cable is a couple inches too short. Also, threading down the tube of the platform will being the cable way too close to the tire to be completely safe. The fix: just thread the cable straight across the top of the fender and then secure it in a couple of places to the platform itself with supplied zip ties. Easy to do. Video is NOT clear in this point. Otherwise, the accessory seems ok, though it’s an expensive add-on.
They sold me one for my Rad Rover 5 as recommended accessory and yes the tail light extension is too short. When I bought the bike in May, they also omitted headlight hardware and it took them two months to get it too me. My experience with RadRover has been mediocre at best for as expensive as these bikes and accessories are.
Hi Darta! Unfortunately, we do not have a clear re-stocking date for the RadRhino Rear Racks. What we recommend is to sign up for "Back In Stock" email notifications on our website. You can do that by clicking the "Out of Stock - Notify Me" button on the product's page. That way, you will receive an email as soon as they are available again.
What do I have to do to keep the rack from sliding? it's twice my groceries fell on the street and I was left in a spot. Those two straight rods just keep sliding, I'm going to have to put Gorilla glue or something there. It's hard to fathom why they were designed this way.

stupid plastic fenders rattle against my rack now when going over bumps. need to find a solution to put some cushion between the rack and fender. not a great design.
Looks easy to install. Would be great if I had mine as I purchased it 3 months ago and still not delivered. Hey Rad Power, send me the drawings for the rack and I will start producing them for you
Hey Garrett! So sorry to hear about that! Feel free to reach out to our Product Support team if you need any additional assistance at - [radpowerbikes.com/support](radpowerbikes.com/support).
I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Rad Power bikes. They change their style of rear rack and provide near nothing except to direct people to an outdated video and garbage text instructions. The new design has the top arms completly disconnected from the rack. The rails float in little holes under the rack that allow the rear rack to slide up and down the fender. I cannot see any point to them as they never securely attach to the rack at all. They just float in the holes. It's incredibly frustrating when you cannot find a single thing out about this and everything just directs to a video where those arms are clearly mounted onto the rack and not this garbage floating design on the new style. Waiting forever on hold doesn't help at all either.
We're so sorry to hear that you're having issues with your rear rack, Eric. Please send our Product Support team an email at radpowerbikes.com/support so that they can look into this matter for you.
AGREED! Same here on the new rack that arrived for my Rad Rover 6 Plus. Not only does the above video completely miss the features & setup of the latest model Rover (taillight assembly being integrated into fender), but yes: the rack in my had does NOT match the rack they're installing. I *guess* i understand their impulse to cut corners to save money. But gee whizz dont cut THESE corners! It just makes their brand come off as cheap, indifferent to even the lowest attention to detail. When your parts change, your documentation must be updated.
One of the fasteners loosely holding the rail popped off of my RadRover 6 plus, along with bolt holding it. And it wasn't surprising, considering how much the rails rattle around while riding. Also the frame itself slips back, only finally being stopped by the rear light on the rear fender. And it's frustrating to watch this, as so much is devoted to moving the rear light on these other models, but entirely irrelevant to the 6 (and the Rover 5 as well?) I thought this looseness must be a purposeful design, because otherwise was RadPower expecting us to glue or even zip tie the supports to the frame? Hopefully they can help me resolve this!
almost killed me twice.....rack started sliding down and my groceries fell over the street in the middle of an intersection. 2nd time that happened. Damn rack just doesn't stay put, no matter what I did. I just put Gorilla glue right now over the holes where the 2 arms go in.I might actually just weld them all together., I shouldn't have to do that. WTF were they thinking with this design? It's very dangerous to ride with this rack on
I moved my rear rack from my older rad rover 6 to my new step thru model. The "U shaped" rod is too short. Rad will not provide me with a new rod so I will have to buy the whole new rack. What a waste! Nice way to make more money and provide less service.
@@toorealmusic836 What's worse is that it looks like this is purposeful, that it serves some function. I would have glued or duct taped it tight. As it was the whole frame vibrated and moved so much, the rod "support" came off while I was riding the bike. I'm lucky I didn't have a second pannier.
dang as a bicycle enthusiast whos changed many tires and parts, the amount of ppl who this has helped is disgusting. it basically 4 bolts, as humans do we really require this much assistance?! cmon ppl this is ridiculously easy its a bike rack
You don't do 75% of this for a Rad Rover 6+

this doesn't work with the black rack. The two long pole type things have no end pieces and they keep sliding.
You guys are smart....to even think of the "zip tie" notches built into the frame is genius.

No kidding! Even without stripping them I had a bolt head completely break off and I'm an old lady!!
Yeah had that problem with one of the rear fender mounting bolts
Yup mine stripped right out without barely tightening them. I guess I like the rear rack permanently now.
