I've got the whole Apple ecosystem...but the Nvidia Shield Pro is my streaming box of choice. Runs my Plex server flawlessly, upscales video to 4k beautifully, and just does a whole lot the Apple doesn't-including running emulators. Well worth the investment IMO.

Anything missing from the Shield Pro that you get on the Apple TV? I'm looking into possibly switching but things like Up Next, no ads, and app "multitasking" has me a little stuck. Not only that but feature that sends a notification to my iPhone while typing so I can type on the phone's keyboard is pretty ingenious and would LOVE to see it on the Android TV platform.

Hey, what’s the highest bitrate 4K HEVC that you tried playing back on the Shield Pro? I have a decent intel 8th gen laptop that can’t smoothly playback 4K HEVC video at bitrate around 50Mbps. I’m hoping the Shield Pro can play back high bitrate 4K HEVC files smoothly

I have several Apple TV 4K 2023 and I recently purchased a Nvidia Shield Pro and I can definitely tell the difference.
I am in the Apple system with Mack Mini M1, iPhone 12 Pro Max, several iPads but the Nvidia Shield Pro has the Best 4K upscaling.
It has many more adjustments for creating the best picture than the Apple and it has more creative options.
So, I'm using the Shield and loving it !!

THANK YOU... I'm also heavily invested into the Apple ecosphere and I've just ordered the Shield Pro... as I can pick it up tomorrow, I'm still unsure if I did the right thing.. I'm also using it for Game streaming from my pc, which just does not work on the Apple TV.. it works but is stuttering like crazy, which is unacceptable. One thing I might miss is the Infuse so I guess I'm going back to Kodi then.

Winner is Nvidia Shield TV Pro 4k with dolby vision, Dolby Atmos. You can add storage hard drive with no issues. 2 hard drive one dedicated and one as storage and can be removed. You can add 3rd party but for Apple TV you can't. Try adding an external drive amd your media library you can't.

Apple constrains third party media apps to only use the built in player. Apps like VLC and Plex that support more playback options are restricted from accessing the Dolby Atmos decoder, it also doesn’t support audio pass through. For this reason I’d take the shield over the ATV. If you don’t have atmos or your own media library then ATV is better

The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the Nvidia Shield TV Pro, is because *it might* finally come out with a hardware upgrade, probably when the Nintendo Switch's successor finally releases within a year or two.
The Shield itself uses X1 Tegra & X1+ Tegra chips, the same chips that are used in the Nintendo Switch platforms itself.

I own both, but if I had to choose one, it would be Shield. For following reasons:
    1. Proper Audio passthrough (which Apple turned off in tvos 10 or 11 I think..why? Why? Why Apple why??)
    2. Because of above, Nvidia can pass DTS and Dolby True HD
    3. Kodi allowed in appstore

    • @sebaszwarc

@@sebaszwarc I know that and that's what I said. And not just that. Android allows you to install basically any app you want, like Kodi from kodinerds with Dolby Vision supports. Apple just can't compete with that. But if they brought back proper audio passthrough, the sales of ATV would go up, because of Plex users, who love Apple TV like me.

Disappointed you didn't mention two huge issues with the AppleTV. Fist is its limitations with Plex - specifically won't play or stream lossless audio streams and Dolby Atmos properly. Second, you can't add a VPN app to the AppleTV. So the AppleTV is great for streaming content from online providers, e.g. Disney+, but not so great for home based content. Also, you have to use some clunky methods to view content through a VPN - very non-Apple like! Would have switched to AppleTV expect for these two issues. I'll stick with the Nvidia Shield for the foreseeable future.

    BEFORE YOU BUY :
    - £ 18,99/m nvidia graphic
    - £ 60 controller
    - £ 50 keyboard and mouse
    - £ 10/m xbox pass
    - £ 10/m PS pass
    - £ ??? Other platforms
Nvidia graphics don't support xbox pass or PS onley nvidia games
Two player games doesn't work on xbox , each controller is as no one ( this problem is for few years already)
IF YOU DONT BUY NVIDIA GRAPHIC FOR £18,99/M AND WISH TO PLAY GAME THEN YOU GOT TO WAIT SOMETIMES VERY LONG AND YOU GOT LIMITED PLAYING TIME , LIKE MY KIDS TRY TO PLAY ONE GAME FROM NVIDIA BECAUSE I DON'T PAY FOR NVIDIA GRAPHIC THEY HAVE POSITION 200 IN THE QUEUE TO PLAY THIS GAME

The Apple TV is faster and more powerful. But you cannot use all that power because you are restricted to the Apple ecosystem no third-party apps or APk’s and no kodi. Can you imagine running?Kodi on Apple TV, how smooth it would run right now the Nvidia shield is the best streaming device for cord cutters in my believe it’s much more versatile

I appreciate the effort of making this video. I have a (friendly) note that I believe would improve your brand, with examples from this video:
If you place higher priority on precision, it will improve viewers' impression (increasing viewer retention), and avoid inadvertently discrediting yourself (increasing viewer retention).
    Re: discrediting
1:24 You were talking about the Pro (presumably the 2022, given that's what viewers would find if they went to a store), but displayed an image of the *2017* Pro - leading viewers to think that a game controller is part of the package.
In short: this small visual error risks discrediting yourself in the eyes of tech-novice viewers (when they buy the Shield Pro, don't get a game controller, and feel that _you_ misled them), and also in the mind of tech-savvy viewers (who might spot the error and no longer trust your information regarding a product they're less familiar with because are likely also inaccurate.
    Re: Impression
You had 2 significant linguistic gaffs. While this might seem benign, it risks lowering viewers' opinions about you (they might easily think "well, if he's totally mistaken about what this word means, what else is he mistaken about?" Or "he's using bigger words to try to make a particular impression, but using the wrong words" _which gives the _*_opposite_*_ impression_ ).
    Examples:
2:19 you said "...a little *_garnish."_* You meant "garish." Totally different meanings.
1:57 you said that the angles are "for *_posterity."_*
I don't know what word you wanted (maybe "aesthetics"?) but I know "posterity" isn't it. For reference, here's the definition of posterity:
    • succeeding or future generations collectively; ie:
_"Judgment of this age must be left to posterity."_
    • All descendants of one person; ie:
_"His fortune was gradually dissipated by his posterity."_
    I hope this 👆🏾 helps!

From what I understand the two main codec support differences is. N.Shield supports DTS audio, while A.TV supports HDR10+ video.

NVIDIA Shield is still the king for media stream and gaming box. Anything you throw on Nvidia it will play it with no buffering. Even 15gb or 20gb movies it will not hang using Plex or Kodi.

I've been using the Nvidia Shield Pro for a couple years now, and I finally gave up on it. Too many crashes/freezes, but the real issue that killed it for me was the never-ending audio sync issues. It appears that some streaming video formats just don't agree with the Shield. It wasn't an app or service specific issue. Watching Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video, no sync issues. Watching Pride and Prejudice on the exact same streaming service, suddenly it looks like I'm watching a bad dub of a foreign film as people's mouths keep moving after they stopped talking. It had me messing with settings on my TV, on my AV receiver, on the Shield itself.
Then I went out and bought the new Apple TV 4K 2022, and suddenly the audio sync issues have vanished. Any streaming service, any content, audio is synced perfectly. So now the Shield is relegated to Plex server duty.

lmao, how much of a fanboy do you have to be to hate a product so much you wouldn't even consider it if it were free and assume its a waste for everyone else.
It doesn't have to be for you but it's a powerful streaming box whether you like it or not, and for those in Apple's ecosystem it can be very reasonable to see it as a good buy. And I say this as someone who isn't even in Apple's ecosystem.

This review is stupid. It does not include the most important things: playback quality comparison, motion smoothing, motion interpolation, bitrate of playback from Netflix, upscaling, ability to playback from HDD missing on Apple, passthrough of dolby atmos or DTS, HDR10 capability... and many things. So basically this stulid review is just a presentation of the specs which you can just read anywhere.

It is odd since it's never been pronounced like that. There's no ad or audio pronouncing it that way. My guess is they have no experience with Nvidia and just guessed based on spelling.
