Thanks for doing this. It’s the clearest video on UA-cam detailing what each component does.

I just installed basically this exact same system in my Navs new canopy and did it all myself. The red arc gear is so user friendly and can hands down agree with the red arc technical support and after sales service being second to none as you said in the video. I had a few questions when installing a quick phone call to redarc and I was put through to a technician who was more than happy to go over my setup and the best ways to go about it. Couldn’t ask for more in my opinion

When on a boy's trip, I run everything via the Patrol's simple dual-battery setup and when camping with wife, I use an inexpensive LiFePo4 battery in a box and fold-up solar panel for weeks of power for the fridge. Cooking is done either on the fire or a gas cooker with usually pre-made meals. When on a boy's trip, all the cooking is on a Coleman single fuel burner or a cheap 12V hot box (all pre-made meals kept in the fridge in vacuum bags or tin foil boxes). And I can charge all my video and stills camera batteries, plus chainsaw battery etc without any issues. After more than 40 years of off-roading, the simpler the better.

Awesome video mate. Represented Hastings perfectly and they should be commended on one of the best setups I’ve seen for a canopy. Yeah it’s x’y but it’s the top of the tree and I think worth every cent if it’s allowing you to do what you do hassle free. Value perception is a personal thing and you aren’t forcing your opinion on anyone, so others should perhaps do the same..

What a dream set up! Very jealous. Great to hear it's getting well used and making life (and work) easier on the road.
Also great to see you supporting quality local manufacturing and businesses that provide top tier products, installation, and service.
It's always good for a laugh to see the fruit loops having a dig at you for not using the same setup as them, often made from C grade imported gear, set up for occasional weekend use with a fridge and a USB port. Glad it works for them, but seriously haha.

    Looks like a nice set-up 👌
I would have thought that the 240v input would have been on the outside of the canopy so you can keep all the doors etc closed

I have purchased an Enerdrive system for my new Canopy. It will have a 200ah lithium battery, 2000w inverter, DCDC charger, ACDC charger and that other stuff. I plan to pop a slimline solar panel on the canopy roof rack. This kit will run a 130L upright Bushman fridge, ARB twin compressor and induction cook top etc. I’ll prob no longer use LPG and start using battery chainsaw and 54v tools eg. Its a game changer for saving weight, time and making work on the road comfortable.

This shows the high end. There are other levels that work perfectly. Ctek 20A dcdc charger $350, lithium battery $650, fused distribution box (other or K's) $200, 170W Hardkorr solar panel $180, shunt $200, optional AC lithium charger $200 to $400. Some wiring, fuses... Mine is perfect and sub $2,000.

Yeah mate and suitable to a lot of people, no one is saying you can't have or use that system. I feel like people always take this as a personal attack and I am saying their cheaper system is sh*t. But a cheaper system is not going to offer what this system does and I've tried cheaper systems and they do not work for me and what I need from a dual battery system being a full time content creator that spends weeks on the road at a time.

top install mate. totally get why u need this n makes sense. as u said its not for everyone. the standard AGM system works very well for the touring person who only needs the basic 12v acc. its not necessary to have a Lithium system to travel this vast land wen a AGM 12v system will work for ur needs n that depends on wat u think ur needs r. for me in my 2021 Ram 1500 i have the same system as u have with the only difference being i run twin 200Liths in my Mits canopy. i use the Ram to tow my 2021 Nitro bass boat to the barra dams n the cod dams in winter. this year i am buying a 2022 Ram 1500 with Mits Canopy n will be running the same 12v system in it n giving my son the 2021 Ram to fish the dams with me. before the nay sayers jump on board as they have done to u TT, i am not a youtuber just a fisherman who can afford these things n its wat i want. gud on u TT.

I find it interesting how people pick one bit of information from a video and then disregard everything else haha, as I said this system isn't for everyone but not sure how a cool box is going to charge all my camera gear to make these videos? And how a cool box is going to run camp lights and fridge when I don't see civilisation for 10 days? Or charge chainsaw batteries? Or laptop I need to make these videos? Or phones to communicate?

    • @TylerThompson90
      @TylerThompson90  2 роки тому +15

I agree, which is why I clearly state this system is not for everyone and why my lifestyle and what I do demands something like this. Like old mate above is comparing me with someone that goes out with mates a few weekends a year for a couple of nights and sits around the campfire sinking tinnies, of course it would be completely insane for him to have this system. I've tried cheaper systems and they aren't enough for me. Like how is a cool box going to help me in my situation? haha. Just because this system isn't for everyone doesn't mean I cant do a video on it, lots of people ask me so I did, I feel like people take it as a personal attack because they have a cheaper system, if you don't want to see it click off.

Backward step in afraid Tyler. Should have looked at Victron blue, 75amp charging from a 3kw invertor charger. Much better connection via Bluetooth. Redarc has been reported to drop out when trying to connect/control via app. But I suppose if you get the system for a reduced price or free? Then good on you.

At first I thought you were installing the ultimate dual battery system in the Patrol, which made sense to me, because you already installed the ultimate dual battery system in the Navara & hinted that you will be buying & building another vehicle to replace the Navara. Or are you going to put the old, ultimate dual battery system into the Patrol, & then this new ultimate dual battery system from the Navara into the new vehicle when you get it?

    • @TylerThompson90

Yeah kinda haha, the Victron set up from the Nav is being transported and built over into the Patrol (video coming on that soon).
