Very rarely is going for 5 of any land without playing other lands the correct play. The idea is turn 1 non plain and then to blink it with each of the 5 plains you play to keep your opponent from developing their board.
Why not add 10 wastes as well? Wastes do not count towards domain and you do not win with 5 wastes. You may treat any 3 wastes as any 1 basic land type to fulfill your win condition. Wastes have cascade, a player can not cascade more than once a turn, and if you resolve the cascade trigger other land triggers you control can’t be countered this turn. Also I would add the rule if playing a land would result in a trigger fizzling for plains, forest, mountain, swamp, or wastes you may put a card from your land from your hand on the bottom of your deck and draw a card. You may still draw this card even if you have no cards in hand to put on the bottom your deck. Lastly I would add snow lands by replacing 5 of each basic with its snow counterpart. Snow lands enter tapped and as a result they have no land triggers. However on any of your other turns you may untap the land before or after your land drop for that turn, doing so will trigger the snow land’s ability. Tapped snow lands will also have their abilities triggered if destroyed by a mountain and snow lands can enter tapped or untapped if blinked by a plains. Plains can also blink enemy tapped snow lands, doing so will have the snow land enter untapped without their ability triggering. If your opponent blinks one of your tapped snow lands you may treat it as a fizzled land trigger by putting a card from your hand on the bottom of your library to draw a card.
There is an idea ive been thinking up along the lines of basic mtg. The idea is that any cards with miltiple text abilities are banned. E.g. a creature with "trample" is fine but a card with "when this card etb...." is banned. Not sure how non creature spells would work though.
I think for both creatures and non-creatures, you'd basically need to limit each card to a single sentence of text. So something like Cancel (Counter target spell.) would be fine, but Absorb (Counter target spell. You gain 3 life.) wouldn't be. That should cover most of the complex spells in the game, though it does leave some edge cases. A card like Opt (Scy1. Draw a card.) would be banned, but a card like Deliberate (Scry 2, then draw a card) wouldn't. The simplest answer there would probably be to get rid of any cards with commas, since those tend to wrap up multiple effects into a single sentence. That isn't always true, but without judging on a case-by-case basis I think it's the simplest way to account for as many as possible. There are still some combined effects that slip through, such as Overrun, but unless you ban cards that use 'and' there isn't a way around that. Banning 'and' and 'then' might functionally accomplish the same thing as banning commas, though runs into similar case-by-case issues. I'd also note that Auras and Equipment are pretty much entirely absent in such a format, since they require multiple lines of rules text simply to have their Enchant X and Equip abilities listed. Planeswalkers are obviously out, as are the vast majority of Lands. Though only allowing basic lands in a basic format is pretty suitable. It's an interesting idea though, since it does really trim down how many effects a card can have. The best spells are those that do the most with the fewest words possible, rather than those that have multiple modes or are just keyword soup. It'd be ideal as a format for beginners, since each card would be very easy to parse and would only ever really do one thing.
This is probably fun but it's not a "format," it's a different game. But the first line of playing only with basic lands is a legitimately good format.
I like it, but as usual I can't resist the urge to mess with the rules. This is basically Magic gin-rummy, so I'd rather have it be 10 lands and/or monocolored permanents. The blue/Island should be Boomerang, not FoW. And the black/Swamp is Coercion, not Thoughtseize.
Back when I use to make youtube videos, I was actually thinking about making a video protesting basic islands being banned in Pauper by having myself and 3 other players playing a mock game with just basic lands as our Pauper decks. So this is nothing new to me.
I disagree with the voting banner splashed before the video... i believe it is irresponsible to vote unless you are keeping up with the issues, if you do not pay attention (or much attention) you should abstain...
What relevance does this comment have to the voting banner? Are you the police on who is fit to vote or not? Did someone suggest voting ignorantly? Just how sure are you of your OWN knowledge, concerning the election? Are people voting differently than you automatically uneducated and, therefore, shouldn’t vote? Stop making something out of nothing. Enjoy the video. 🙄🙄🙄
@@elorrambasdo5233 Yeah, she's the right choice if you want more wars, violence in the streets, rising food costs, rising inflation, government crack downs on free speech, etc. 🙄
Some people don't have the luxury of sitting around in front of a computer screen getting spooned political opinions. Some of us grind to keep.our families afloat. I have every right to vote as much as you. Not being able to follow the discussion 100% of the time doesn't mean our lives are inconsequential or that the matters being voted on don't affect us.
The actual content of the episode starts around 2:30
so scared of the ban list now we are creating a new format whose namesake is a type of card that no one will bother to ban them. GG mtg
Sharpie magic is still fun
Saw this being played in cardmarket one time except Blue does not have any etb effect and white had the draw effect
If plains only interact with non plains, going for 5 of them is just nonsense
Think of more as using the effects of the other lands rather than get 5 of each
@@falkranduhm10 wow, even in a format of all lands, white finds a way to be underwhelming. Lol.

Quick! Someone tell Tomer from MTGGoldfish!
Sounds Super Fun!!! Will try it out

omg look so cool and fun to play !
Coalition Victory is also banned in this format.
Missed opportunity for the format to be called "Flooded"
this has been around for a while. iirc cardmarket made a video on it a while back

That's cool
Is this a 1v1 format? Or multi?
Stop it wizards already started putting other cards in instead of basic lands and now LGS is gonna start charging $1 per basic land just stop
At this point, we have more formats than cards.
Wastes effect?
Never been this early 😂
Yo
Errr... no.... just no.... this is just silly. Wow where are we ??
Starts @ 2:46
i dunno this just seems dumb and even more convoluted, basics acting as "spells" is just weird and clunky. def staying away from this lol

You really don't need to pay attention to know that Kamala is the only right choice
