yeah but hear it on analogue vinyl & the sonic spread is like it should be diverse & i really liked your grandmother,s singing she had the grit with soul great singer peace..
You are very lucky. It's a wonderful heritage isn't it? To have two very talented people in the family tree. I was about 13 when I discovered your grandmother's wonderful voice...in 1977. Best wishes, and thanks, to you and your extended family. Be well and stay safe.
Your grandparents are legends, and the world was saddened at the loss of your grandad last year. Know that his music brought a lot of joy to generations of music fans. One of my friends still makes music with your grandmother. Out of interest, did you take up music yourself?
Hello ! The set was directed by Jean-Christophe Averty, a pioneer of French TV, and the art direction was by Belgian artist Guy Peellaert, comics drawer and painter of album covers for rock artists like David Bowie (Diamond Dogs) and the Rolling Stones (It's Only Rock 'n Roll). 11 december 1968.
What a mesmerizing video…in color, yet! Brian Auger & Julie Driscoll had talent beyond their years. Julie sang like a cross between Grace Slick meets Janis Joplin, with her OWN deep bluesy style thrown in for good measure. Truly one-of-a-kind!
How did I get to overlook Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger. The Trinity also playing right in the pocket to produce supercool grooves, and Julie is cooler and hipper than many of her contemporaries, Carnaby fashion forward, and oh boy, can she sing! I'm also glad they got out their cine cameras and put in ground-breaking post production effects, their art style slap bang in the middle of Pop Art, the whole presentation beautifully put together, gorgeous to watch and listen to.
I’ve been loving them forever...even when they were both the short lived Steampacket with Rod Stewart and Long John Baldry.....but Brian was killing it in the 70s with Oblivion Express...
Julie is, and has always been, sooooooooooooooooooo cool!!! She's so great on many tunes but my favorite these days is "Rope Ladder To the Moon" and "Future Pilot" from the "Encore" album! They're so good with some killer lyrics.
I met her a few times in the 80s when she came to the Welsh College of Music and Drama to sing with the big band that her husband Keith Tippett was conducting at the time. Amazing performer...
I always loved Julie....and Brian...what a maniac..I think he's still playing...so good..like a mad scientist with his organ!!! Thesets pretty cool too
Great stuff, you had to be there and I was. I always remember them as "Julie Driscoll and the Brian Auger Trinity" but they are billed here as "Julie Driscoll, Brian Augur and The Trinity"; is my memory playing tricks on me?
Groovy Man ! I can Dig It !! Don't harsh my mellow !! Do you reach me man ?! Now give me some Cocoa Puffs and let me float down from my grassy high...*Puff* cough cough cough ! It must be the season of the Weeaahhch !!
Videotape never responded well with anything but flat lighting. Shows in the 80s onward would film scenes then edit on videotape in order to get away from the flat floodlit look. The artsy 60s stuff has a certain energy that feels more real than some of today's "overproduced" visuals.
This is my grandmother! My grandad is also Keith tippett! 23 and only starting to appreciate the music they used to make

Your grandmother and hour grandfather were fantastic musicians and gave me many hours of pure musical pleasure
Ahahah funny fake
What a fantastic set design. Really captures the zeitgeist of the late '60s.

Fifty-plus fucking years ago and still THIS. Fucking impressive!

And a little bit of Dusty Springfield, too.

Still loving this after all these years absolutely brilliant 😎
Julie Driscoll was a famous Jazz singer. I got to see her sing in a small club in Toronto in the 1960's and she was electrifying.
I was at that show in Toronto - March 30th, 1969 at the Rock Pile.
@@MrPeterNeedham thanksfor that exact dating. I was at the Rock Pile every weekend for years
@@taragreenetarotastro68 You're welcome. I was there are well most weekends until 1973. There were some memerable shows there!
Hippy Trippy magic . My buddy had several of their albums way back in the day. This one ....whoo boy. Memories of daze gone by.
Great version of a Donovan song from an underrated great singer IMO. Brian Auger is a legend
Loved you in the 60's, have your LP, and still love you..Had my hair cut like yours too...Still a great tune..

She was absolutely bewitching!
Without doubt the best version of Donovan's best song. Jools!
Version from Vanilla Fudge is great too.
even the version of al kooper Is One of the best
there’s a lot of great covers of this tune for certain
@@boccons1150 Agree! I saw Super Session live in Forest Hills around 1967.
@@JayKeller lucky you man, you've seen a piece of music history.

The infamous Long John Baldry he used to also be in Toronto years ago.
Best band name of all-time -- The Oblivion Express
wow, so fab
This song is stuck in my mind since it came out back then when music was music.
absolutely fabulous julie darling, love you
stop simping
Had this on UK vinyl in 1967. Nothing else quite like it in California at the time.
Blew my little mind.
Loved her. Amazing voice amazing face. Spawned so many copycat girls on the dance floor. 50 years on nothing's changed. BRILLIANT 💖
Jools was simply magic!
fannycraddock99 yes she was...Brian ain’t nothing to play with either
these is exactly the music i got in my favorites, far out!!!!!!!
Love her voice.
Always loved to dance to this in club, then had the luck to see her every night for 10 days in a club in Zermatt of all places....great, just great...
Groovy, baby!
Briliant!
Reminds me of the old sci fi series Time Tunnel. Love them both.
Julie is, and has always been, sooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!

The called her "The face" as she was so beautiful.
Fantastic.
Im 76 in a month 😂 just found photos of my hair when I looked like Julie as I thought she was so wonderful. Her music is still amazing
This is a very vivid memory of mine from the 60s. Not everything had to be Top 40. Not everything had to be for the mass market.
i can not forget !!!
A real masterpiece
I always loved Julie....and Brian...what a maniac..I think he's still playing...so good..like a mad scientist with his organ!!! Thesets pretty cool too
Julie just psychedelized my soul!
still love it!!
Amazing
Brilliant!!
Sensational !!
Love this
Excellent 😊

At the time we were diving in complete Psychedelics ! The original was on Apple rec. If I am not wrong !
Great stuff, you had to be there and I was.

THX!
YEAH...¡¡¡
The face of the pianist, total out of this word.
Ez a dal közel 40 éves. Ma is tetszik!
A dal 51 éves. 1968-ban írta Donovan...és még mindig tetszik...nekem is...
The backdrop looks like it was heavily influenced by or borrowing from the "EYE" image on the 13 Floor Elevator's First Album from 1966 :)
Pretty sure I saw them do this at The Ramjam Brixton bitd.
Who made this amazing video for them, and why?? I want to know! What an incredible artefact.
The set was designed by Guy Peelaert for the Bee Gees "Idea" TV Special that aired on Germany's ZDF station. The whole show is awesome.
Reminds me of smoking hash in GR and looking to get back to the WORLD,...
Groovy Man ! I can Dig It !! Don't harsh my mellow !! Do you reach me man ?! Now give me some Cocoa Puffs and let me float down from my grassy high...*Puff* cough cough cough ! It must be the season of the Weeaahhch !!
This version is easily my favourite... she's amazing! Joan Jett's version is good too, but this is the one 👌👌👌

Jools---??------------Brian Auger on the Hammond organ
I think Julie Driscoll's nickname was Jools, but yah, there's Jools (Julian) Holland - another great organist.
Nope, Jools Holland one of the most overrated pieces of bum note crap, in history

Performance is still golden, but the video is so silly ! Julie is on the level of Amy Winehouse, Brian was and still is my keyboard heroe !

There are so many good versions of this song. Donovan's still #1. But this and Lou Rawls are great.
:-)
great musicians Julie and Brian....a bit tooo early to make it big
A beautiful version, but Al Koopers version does it better for me.

Terrific cover of Donovan. Painfully arty sets and flat ugly lighting. Best heard and not seen...
