Why thank you :-) I like you too. John is a Legend! Billie Holiday's version is of course a classic...I also like Louis Prima's version. So many great versions!
Woaaah! This was one of your coolest lessons and there are soooooo many. I was swinging like a crazy woman. Not caring what my neighbours thought! Merci.
Enjoyed this ! Thank you Stu. I can’t play hard for my trigger finger😓 in these days. I am taking this as a message that I need to let go my too much controling...
Well, I LOOOOOVE your solo version. That is some very tasteful playing you offered. Keep that solo warm under your fingers - you really played nicely. 🎶😊
Thank you for sending good vibrations back to me (and I imagine you do this with many many people throughout your days). All the best, Happy playing, Stu
Dear Stu, your music has the destiny to make people feel really happy - thanks for spreading wonderfull moods to the world! Happy greetings from Germany.
1)I am crazy about this lesson and I find with the speed and all ( I know I can slow it down, but I like the vitesse) I slip into chucking ( hey, this song has helped me, without intending improve my chuck, thanks), but I like this mellower sound. I suppose it depends if I use the index finger or the thumb while strumming . When I use the index, I tend to use the bottom (palm) part of my thumb.
Yes - wherever it feels natural, follow that. Just as long as your technique is LIGHT. That's key. Keep on searching for the effortless, ease of when something is known. Watch the body...feel the dance on the instrument....ENjoy :-)
🙏 Thank you for watching & joining in...and thank you for this video - I saw this on your channel page a nice meditation here: ua-cam.com/video/k0PSUDvLi8E/v-deo.html
We recently did this song in concert; it's always fun played jazzy and loose in the syncopation. Some day I'd love to play the picking patterns and flourishes you do here, even half as fluidly as you do it. Right now, Until I get better at it I do a few slides here and there instead.
2) The delicious UDU at the end adds so much flavour but overused it's less magical. It is nice to feel a surprise when it comes- how often should we had it? After certain chords? I know it's a matter of preference but any suggestions?
You can feel free there...Once you're in the pocket, just stretch out with your feelings & start to improv some strum effects...it becomes more jammy that way too. :-)
All of uke, why not learn all of uke... with UZ! I am amazed how you make what I thought a very melancholic song into something fun and happy. The image of the trampoline helps a lot to get the movement: maybe a way of transforming pain into energy and joy ? A languorous stroke and then a brisk whip... Merci beaucoup!
I would like to play like you🥺 but I've only had the ukulele for two month, so everything is ahead of me.. I hope:) You sing very well too. Besides, just looking at you puts me in a good mood. I use your lessons to learn. Thank you❤
Yes Jane, you can! Same idea, different finger. Also sounds good with a straight forward DU DU DU DU strum w index...Hope you'll subscribe for more vids like this one...Be well & Happy playing, Stu
Another superb video Stu. Thank you. This is a challenge for a beginner like me but I'm sure giving it a go. Can I ask you, when you mute it's difficult for me to stop it becoming a chunk so is that alright?
I am getting like 3 beats instead of 2: 1 when i slow strum,1when i fast strum and 1 when i mute Unlike in yours where the fast strum and mute together are one beat. And my hand movement is also different from yours, i know I am doing it wrong but don't know how to correct it
Hi Ramon, Yes - it's unfortunate! I think the estate of Chuck Berry has blocked the video in the EU. Never fear - an online course about rock and roll and rockabilly music is about halfway finished… I'll be announcing it on this channel soon as it's completed! Be well, Stu
Hi Aylett, The Ukulele played in this video is a custom Tenor Uke w/ Kasha Bracing System. Very unique ukulele made by a wonderful luthier… He is getting older so if you wanna get one reach out to him soon and get one while he's still making them! Made by Brian Griffin - P.S. Please tell him Stu sent ya’! www.griffinukuleles.com
Hi Kim, It's what I played...it is the songsheet. I'm following the chords & strum....the songsheet is a guide - jazz has lots of ad libbing - in tis version I stick pretty close to the page ;-)
Awesome!! I appreciate your kind comment and am very happy for your music making 😀 I’ve got more to enjoy at the channel and courses at my website too. Play on! www.stufuchs.com/store
Ukulele Zen Thanks Stu, I can actually do the mute but can’t get the “swing”. I just sound forced and robotic rather than relaxed and eh swing, bouncy, trampoliney BTW when is your next “how to sing & play for dummies” tutorial 🤔. Greetings from a sunny and more locked down Ireland. Every time we get even a regional lockdown the weather gets better.
great song and lesson but waaaaay to fast for me to play along with you. I could only get one strum per measure, but at least I muted that strum! I will have to slow it down a lot, although then you sound like somebody leaving the dentist with a numbed mouth that won't work and it makes me laugh.
Slowing it dooooowwwwnnnn is goooooooowwwoooood! 😉 Thanks for watching & joining in - my tempo is just one possibility of course - play it slower & it becomes a nice ballad 🎶
Wow! ... just when I think I'm making progress 🙄 I'd have to live a LONG Time. Lord have mercy.🦋
Same here dude! Keep at it though.
I looove John Legend, but THIS is the "All of me" song I wanted. If you're reading this - I like you - yes you!!

This strum works really well with 'What a Day for a Daydream' - John Sebastian's great song from the 60s.
Yes - that's a super cool swinging tune...hmmm - I think that should be lesson someday!
Thanks for the lesson. Greetings from. Germany. Moritz

Hi, loved your swing strum with All Of Me. Is it possible to make it work using my index finger? Thanks.

Another superb video Stu. Thank you. This is a challenge for a beginner like me but I'm sure giving it a go. Can I ask you, when you mute it's difficult for me to stop it becoming a chunk so is that alright?
Yes, absolutely - a silent mute is what I'm recommending, but a chuck is juuuust fine! Do YOUR thing ;-) Thanks Lisa
Fantastic! thanks for sharing
Thanks Tom...Glad you enjoyed it! Share the vid & keep on swinging!
Gads. Cool! tryin to move away from strum only..so tab for solo?
I love your arrangement, I would like to learn this song in gypsy jazz style :)

Where can i find the tab?
I am getting like 3 beats instead of 2: 1 when i slow strum,1when i fast strum and 1 when i mute
Unlike in yours where the fast strum and mute together are one beat.
And my hand movement is also different from yours, i know I am doing it wrong but don't know how to correct it
You are too advanced for me but i love it🤩
Thanks for watching and trying! Just so you know, I have lots of beginner friendly tutorials at my channels homepage “Ukulele Zen”. Play on, Stu 😊🎶🤙
Hi Stuart,
please have a look at the comments under your Johnny B Goode video. Everyone has problems with playback, France, US, German.

NICE! Keep swinging! I think Steve Martin had a movie of this same title ;)
The music I printed out for this song, does not have what you are playing??? Why??
the music that you printed maybe in a different key
Hi Kim, It's what I played...it is the songsheet. I'm following the chords & strum....the songsheet is a guide - jazz has lots of ad libbing - in tis version I stick pretty close to the page ;-)

Awww, thanks! Feel free to share it with a friend ;-). Be well & jam ON!
Man this is harder than you make it look 😭
Keep at it Gavin...the muting of the strings - is just a moment of touching the string lightly :)
Ukulele Zen Thanks Stu, I can actually do the mute but can’t get the “swing”.
I just sound forced and robotic rather than relaxed and eh swing, bouncy, trampoliney
BTW when is your next “how to sing & play for dummies” tutorial 🤔.
Greetings from a sunny and more locked down Ireland. Every time we get even a regional lockdown the weather gets better.
Show off
This isn't my favorite for a beginner. Song is not introduced (chords) and seems more about Stu's playing than teaching the student.
great song and lesson but waaaaay to fast for me to play along with you. I could only get one strum per measure, but at least I muted that strum! I will have to slow it down a lot, although then you sound like somebody leaving the dentist with a numbed mouth that won't work and it makes me laugh.
