I'm not sure if you've heard this one before, but a rule of thumb I follow for adjusting my stirrups on the ground is by measuring the stirrup leather against the inside of my arm. Hand against the saddle and pull the stirrup into your armpit with the other hand. Then adjust until the leather is the same length as your arm with the buckle at the stirrup bar. It's not a flawless system but it gives you a good length to where you should only need to adjust 1 or 2 holes in the saddle :)
Thank you !! My trainer did teach me this but for some reason I just can’t get it right 😂 I must be doing something wrong hahaha I appreciate the help 🥰
New sub! Even though I’ve been riding for 5 years there’s still more to learn, and your care for horses is something phenomenal! I usually don’t have the time to brush with many brushes as the lessons between are max 1 hour.
Thanks so much!!! I’m glad that you liked it 🥰 yes I feel like no matter how long you’re in the industry for you can always learn something new from someone
Tip for getting the right stirrup length!! Hold your stirrup straight out so it looks like a wing then take your dominate arm and put your arm straight out over top the stirrup. Then you put your fingertips just where the stirrup leather meets the saddle ( make sure your fingers aren’t bent) then put the stirrup right against your armpit then if the Stirrup leather can’t reach your armpit then it needs to go longer, if your stirrup leather has slack in it after you put it on your armpit, then it needs to go shorter! Let me know if you have any questions!
Once I was on a horse with blue eyes he is kinda blind to the sun. His name is Winston. Winston was standing in the sun when I was riding him so my coach could open the gate to the arena and someone put more manure in a bin and Winston had no idea that the man was doing that and he freaked up And startled, safe to say I was terrified
quick tip for making sure ur stirrups are going to fit: when u pull them up take ur stirrup and see if it reaches out to ur armpit in a straight line. sometimes u still have to adjust when u get on but it does help! also, ur arena is so cute!
when a horse pulls against the lead when walking its best not to look at them. Keep looking forward to show that whether they pull or not your still going to the arena. Looking at them focuses all your attention on them and your not paying attention to where you want to go. This helps a lot!
Ugh I also have problems with stirups! Most of the time they are too long because girl who rided before me is pretty big and here's a tip my trainer gaved me for stirrups: stirrups mustfit size of your head so put your hand from start to end of stirrup and stirrup girth😁
I wish i could've learned how to canter on lead first , but my trainer told me i had to learn on my own and even tho I almost fell of the first time it was still fun!😂 i love your videos your so gentle and nice with the horses it just fills me with joy to see people loving and caring for horses❤️
I also do horse riding I’ve been doing it for 10 months and I love it but I have a question how long did you learn trotting before you cantered for the first time? And also how does if feel to canter and was it hard? But also new sub💗
Im vsry lstw to this lol but i jusf had a lesson today and at a new stables i rode a horse called poppy theyve had her since she was 4 and now shes 15 so they thoughf it would be great for mecto ride her for my first lesson there so we where just going to do some jumping and poles so simpls right? Once we got onto poles we where like oh okay just had a bit of mph when i first wenf in the poles then she started cantering and jumper the poles 😂😂😂 then when wd where doing a jump we where just likd okay just calmly trot no0e she aas likd SPEEEED so we got fo probs 60 i think but i learned half halt and all that whichwas good at then end we where going fo do 70 but then otis one of there other hodses started bucking in his field ndxt to the outdoor arena and we had a gallop round the arena and i started tilting of sideways and she has a very bouncy canter lol but the smoothest trot luckilgi stayedon but when wd where doing the 60cm her legs where absolutely amazing u could jsut see the, both go forwrdand it was so relaxed love watching ur vids 😂😂❤❤❤
Mr. Fish has multiple issues that should be addressed. His rider, though caring, isn't handling him to fix those issues. And that patting! No horse likes patting, especially if it's audible. Why, why, why do riders think it conveys anything positive to the horse. It does not; it's just one more thing they have to learn to ignore.
Thank you for your concern, although I ride Fisher sometimes, he is not my horse and it is not my place to overstep and try to implement training on him. His owner knows him well and takes good care of him and I’m sure she has/will address any issues he may have. The GoPro tends to exaggerate the audio, the pats are fine, we all enjoy a gentle pat as encouragement :)
@@RidewithClara "... we all enjoy a gentle pat as encouragement ..." That's an assumption; I certainly do not; it's weird. Evidently, you do, therefore, you assume everyone else, including animals, does. Your assumption is wrong.

@@RidewithClarawhat I do is put the end of the stirrups iron to the beginning of my arm pit. It usually works-hope this helps!
Yes I agree! But sometimes you do just have to adjust it randomly because they are to long to short ect
I do this too but still almost alway too long😂
You"re so kind to your horses!!!
You care so much for them and pay attention to them so well!!!
Thank you I’m so glad you think so 🥹💕

Poor Fishy
Maybe you should tell the owner all his wounds so he will not keep getting bullied?

your supposed to be rewarding your horse. if you don’t you won’t ever earn your horses trust.

cantering is a lot of fun, though it is definitely faster then trot if you remember to breathe and relax it’s wonderful!
