- The Borla S-Type exhaust for the 2009-2018 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi is our follow up to the Touring install here at the Lethal Garage. Installing this product on the Lethal Poverty 1500 5.7L hemi with no mods done to the truck. Note: This system fits any 1500 with the 5.7L Hemi. Join Mike via Red Barn Racing and myself as we go over the product, perform a full install and do some idle and rev testing.

Overall the S-Type sounds really clean, if they would have made the ATAK for this truck it would have been even better. But I love the sound while driving and no drone is a plus.
LethalGarage I got atak on my 1500 custom work. Best sound ever. I’m thinking of adding another one one

The borla sounds clean but i like the aggressiveness the gibson had. I would switch back
Gibson sounded better but the quality of that exhaust was really poor, Borla looked way better.
I'm driving a 2012 5.7 hemi and I ended up just cutting the muffler off and putting in a y pipe. By far the best sounding exhaust ive heard for these trucks. Cost me $100, can't beat that. I do the like the sound of borla S though.

It has drones when you at 1600-1700 rpms.
I have a 2015 ram limited has true duals x pipe no cats no muffler no resonators. 5inch tips k&n intake headers cam and wipple supercharger stage 3 701hp its got a 10 FTS lift so its slow still has 40x13.50R26x14 -77 fule forged
I used to run Flowmaster 40s but heard a Ram with no mufflers or resonators that sounded better-
So now my Ram is straight back from the cat
That's what I did. Cost $30 for pipe and some time.
Borla: "rumm..ruuumm"

2011 RAM 1500 5.7 had Spintech pro street 9000 and one of the baffles inside broke loose! So I switched to Flowmaster super 44 and resonator delete, sounds deep and mean. FM Super 10 maybe next? Your truck sound good, like deep base😎

The Borla in this video sounds just like the factory stock sound
In sweden we call it a coldstart when its below freezing only
It will idle at the same RPMs either way. Only difference is the length in time of the high idle.

On this particular vehicle i like the Gibson best it seems this Borla setup must have resonators installed, but now do the same with a silverado & the Borla wins hands down but then again it should for costing about $600 more!
You forgot to rev it when you had muffler delete mod. They both sound good IMO, but I would not get the Gibbon due to the fact that their stainless steel rusted!!! Mike save your T -shirts bring your floor creeper. BTW nothing wrong wth being Canadian eh!!!! 😂

Gibson was definitely more aggressive. However, I've heard great things about Borla as far as performance.
I just straight piped mine.
Borla makes a great exhaust setup but the sound isn’t there, the Gibson IMO sounded way better

I just swapped my Gibson for Black Widow. But I do believe Borla is way better quality, just not aggressive enough with the S Type.

The Gibson sounded better IMO.....it had that deeper growl.....but I like that sound so I'm probably partial to it.....I have a Flowmaster 40 series on mine and ppl always asking me about it and compliment me on the way it sounds....

I love the way my maganaflow muffler with b2 resonator delete with 5” tips sounds I think way better than the borla and the Gibson was way better.

I like the look of the Borla, but it was quieter that the Gibson. Also I did not like the “snap” that the Gibson had.
Not sure if the Borla was quieter due to background noise or what, but both Borla start ups I heard more engine noise and music than exhaust rumble.

I love both of them, but I'd have to say I like the Gibson better, is just has a little more of a roar to it than the Borla. But both sound great!
Borla has a way better tone got it on my 04 Dakota 4.7L and it is perfect for the money
I have the same truck same exhaust and I can’t get the tips centered in the rear bumper. Any tips? I had a buddy hold them center and when I tighten them they move
I typically over correct the way they move than tighten them up.
Sounds like a bag of kittens 🐱. Hopefully it makes more of an impression while driving
Whats louder a no muffler delete with no resonators or borla?
Definitely a muffler delete with the resos, still a good deep sound, loud at WOT, and quiet when cruising. Without resos I feel like its too raspy

Question, the part of the exhaust that going around the spare tire, the pipe that looks ballooned, is that straight through or is that a resonator? Also how long are the 5” tips? Not the pipe but the actual tip?

How is it under a load? I like deep throaty exhaust, but not where it resonates in the cab. I do a lot of driving and pull a trailer. The last thing I was is to get a headache from the resonation in the cab.
Maybe next time they will send ya the atak system but that exhaust system looked higher quality than any I've seen out of all brands.

@@Lethalgarage either way I would be happy with any borla exhaust system, it looked great on your truck are you gonna show a video to see how the borla hold up to the weather I was thinking about getting one I have a chevy vmax with header and stock exhaust with the resonator cut off.
I have the flowmeter outlaw system on my 2015....sounds wayyy better than those two systems...you should try it
I'm willing to bet that Gibson is 302 or 304 stainless steel and that shit rusts. 316 stainless is the way to go.
If I understand correctly the 409 Stainless gets surface rust vs the 304 stainless steel that doesn't

Spintech pro street 9000 replaced my 10 series on my 96 ram. Far more aggressive.

I have the S type on my 19 RAM and it is a little to loud for my liking. Not sure how much quieter the touring is? Now that you have had both is there a big decrease in sound when getting up to speed? Hope you respond
I hate loud exhaust but sorry thats not loud enough for a hemi it needs a rumble that stands out. Thats more like a good neighbor exhaust

That was kind of the point. I love the way to Gibson Sounded. But I love the deeper tone of the Borla

just a question... so i have the touring system on my ram right now, muffler and tail pipes. if i bought just the s-type muffler would it fit with the tail pipes that came with the touring system??

Gibson, all the way! It’s like you changed your microphone? Borla is way quieter. Show the bottom of the Borla muffler now that it’s got the same mileage as the Gibson.
