There is something about the old metal boxes that held the sockets, ratchet and extensions that I love. Grab them whenever I can. Have been lucky enough to find some old SK and Proto boxes. Back when you really couldn’t buy a bad tool.
Thanks! This set has become one of my favorites. I've never come across a Proto box but would like to find one someday. You're right, back when these were made even the budget boxes were good.
Hello from wisconsin, another interesting, thought provoking video. I was waiting for some hammered paint haha.. keep up the great content!!! Also thanks for sharing the feeline friends
hah! Believe me, I was tempted to break out the paint but this one is in better shape than most. I've got an entire herd of cats here. We take some in and try to find homes for others. Now the neighbor's cats are hanging around over here. I guess the food must be better? :)
Just discovered your channel. I enjoy the straight to the point, no tee-heeing around, no annoying UA-cam music, no silly cutaway clips.Just great content we can enjoy. Subbed and Thumbs up! The Herbrand tools you are finding here and there were manufactured in my town (Fremont,Ohio). In fact I live less than a half mile from where the plant once stood on the Sandusky river. Around here they are very collectable. My father collected them for years and had one of the largest collections around. I have quit a few pieces myself. The strange little Craftsman socket type wrench with the rubber coated handle is a battery terminal wrench. I look foreword to watching your videos and getting caught up on prior ones.
Thanks for subscribing and thanks for the info!! I had never seen Herbrand until a few months ago and I think I now have one string of sockets and an odd wrench or two. Good to know where they're from and really interesting to see they made it all the way to Florida as well. If you're missing any specific piece I'll see if I can find it.
DUDEZILLA!!!!! I THOUGHT I heard some guy yell at the top of thier lungs, 'SCORE' all the way here in SC.!!!! Now I know who it was and where it came from!
Thanks! It turned out to be a great score. The husky USA set, the compression tester and most of all the Spartan Tool Boxes. Most of it has made it to donations but I got my money's worth and also the fun of sorting though it.
Yes! Great minds think alike. That's exactly what I did. I gave him a craftsman box and told him that as we work on things we'll fill the box with anything that we use. He'll be getting some things from this set.
@@floridarusticrepairs call them (Stanley) they will tell you what brands the have purchased keep a list, challenger is part of Proto but I think they own Plumb tools. That brace look sweet with the auger bits , funny I’d swear Steve Buscemi was doing a voice over on Your channel you sound like him that much. But I’m sure you have heard that just like people used to say I looked like Dan Aykroyd.
You Suck exponentially - okay that said, Love those fluted handle pulls. I’ve been searching for a bottom roller to accompany my Early- Mid 60’s Bonney (Scotch Logo) top chest with those fluted pulls. I’ve seen several boxes that used that style pulls: York, Bonney, Snap On, Duplex and now Spartan … wondering which company was the original and made for the others or was bought out. If you have any info I would really appreciate it. Double mid boxes Damn, you deserve a parting You Suck!
I could not go wrong with the double mid boxes! Most of these boxes were built by Metal Box and Cabinet Company or MBC for short. They made boxes for Snap On, Craftsman, Spartan, SK and others. All were either identical or very similar. I've never seen a Bonney box but I'd bet it's an MBC as well. Here's a video I did with a MBC labelled version of their boxes: ua-cam.com/video/BJylMP1z3u0/v-deo.html

I'm on my way to harbor freight this morning. Christmas gift card. Awesome video.
Thanks! it's like Christmas going through these old boxes. Always a lot of fun.
You are going to add on to your garage if you you keep finding awesome tool boxes like these. I love that you can save these old tools! Thank you!
i've been thinking of doing that! When I built the Post and Beam car port I was thinking it was a good trial run for building a garage.
Nice find. I thought for sure the upper was a hutch. Very nice to have the 4 chests.
Thanks! Yes, two middle boxes has got to be rare. I've actually never seen another Spartan set anywhere.

Cool! I'm curious what you'll be working on. @@AndyM.
For $200 you got one hell of a score there
Agreed. These boxes are really cool. It's funny how even with two middle boxes the set is still not very tall.
Your augers fit into the Stanley bit and brace
Thanks! i hadn't made that connection.
Good purchase!
Thanks! I just need to find room for it. :)
the stately hand driver goes with wood auger you could get $150.00 or more
Thanks. That's surprising to hear. I'm going to be keeping that and using it as a display piece eventually.
Check the brands they Stanley owns they do warranties service
33:57, that black screwdriver is probably snap on, very old hard handel, really hard to read logo
Now i'll have to look through what's left to see if i can find it. i did find one small black Snap On. A second would be nice! Thanks!
The wood piece that says stanley is a scribe for wood working.
Thanks! My friend Tyron immediately claimed one when he saw them. :)
Stanley marking gauge if it has a sharp scribe on it
You could put together a toolbox with donation tools for your neighbor young man neighbor.

How do you remove the drawers in this box?
Hi, You can do it with a bent, flat piece of metal or a bent screwdriver. I'll film the process for you in the next few days.
