    as are SE37K/A, RE30 are such an underrated wheel. RAYS ought to quit releasing yet another edition of TE and bring back those two!

      I like seeing if they have flat bottoms - wacky mate gtr32 time is impressive with minimal aero

    I absolutely love this car. 17:14 Every time I learn something new about it, I gain more respect for the driver. Aoki must be a genius behind the wheel and behind the wrench. Even with Radial tires his times are insane. It’s a testament to the attention to detail he’s put into setting up the chassis. This car would be an absolute WEAPON with some more power and Aoki behind the wheel.

      Well Tomiyoshi NSX has go for turbo setup last time, now with even bigger horsepower but brake failure ended their attack session prematurely.

    Thanks so much for this... anyway, is it possible for an OEM to specifically engineer a car for Time Attack? Can they then sell this car to the public, and then the aftermarket hops it up? I know its never been done.
    The next big steps in aero, suspension need to come from a clean sheet. We are making a 'turd' (passenger car) into a bullet. If the OEM was in on this game, we could make some SERIOUS laptime improvements.
    - And like, yeah, I've run without an Alternator before, and the car ran fine! I can imagine that you could build a TA car that didn't have an alternator. (Yes, I know, the battery needs to be tip top, and high capacity. But this can be done for one lap!)

      I think the closest comparison to your suggested concept would be Toyota's offering of the 'low-spec' 86 in Japan, they called it the RC model. Basic steel wheels, unpainted bumpers, stripped of amenities. It was targeted for people purchasing with the intent to modify.

      The amount of power needed for a high performance engine and build is tremendous. The beefy fuel delivery system, the extremely hot ignition system and the powerful ECU draw insane amounts of power. The battery needed to run a few laps would most likely be heavier than a small battery and an alternator. HOWEVER, if the said systems were all stock or slightly modified, it might work on something with a very small displacement such as a kei car like the Cappuccino. I have never tried so obviously I don’t know for sure but I have a little experience with aircraft systems which in many ways are similar.

      @@NaritaDogfight Yeah, that's cool that they did that. But, of course, only in Japan.

      @@NaritaDogfight i think Toyota also sold an RC version of the GR Yaris & GR86 as well. Basic & smaller wheel, no infotainment system and sold mainly to tuning shops

    Is there a reason time attack is so big in Japan it looks like a lot more passion projects from shops rather than big time sponsored rides the amount of money must be crazy on some of these machines

    • @NaritaDogfight
      @NaritaDogfight  Рік тому +2

      Japan was the birthplace of time attack, its only gotten more popular over the years. Yeah, a lot of money in the cars but that's pretty common at the top level
