have you painted the grey motor yet Graham? interested in your procedure, I'm doing mine and in mind is all the fails people have. Do you watch Uncle Tony''s Garage? he did a vid on engine painting, I'm trying his method, after repeated degreasing and burning off the residue it's amazing how much is still coming out of the porous block !! regards, Geoff
thanks for that "Doc", I've talked with a gent who found that back in the day the grey motor had problems with condensation inside the motor which was the cause of a lot of this sludge, interesting! regards Geoff
It didn't get the holiday in a hot acid tank bath but it's amazing what a couple of weeks in a tank of diesel and unleaded mix will do after an initial degrease. regards Geoff D
good stuff!! diesel fuel is great for unseizing things, i used it on my tank gearbox after 3months its all freed up

To be fair them old grey motors, it was an option to have an oil filter , this is what happens without it SLUDGE

That poor old engine needs stripping then an extended stay in a hot tank!
