Happy Monday guys! 🤗 Sorry this video is a day late! In this video, I’m sharing some winter hair care tips to help keep your hair moisturised during the cold winter months. Let me know in the comments if you find this video useful and remember to LIKE & SUBSCRIBE if you’d like to see more videos 💛
Love your tips. Will check into moisturizing more often. Right now, I do wash and go’s and don’t touch again until wash day. Unless I feel like I want to stretch the time to wash and I will do a high bun that I learned on your channel. I like the style in this video. Thanks!
Aww…thank you! 🥰 Yes, just go with how your hair feels and what works best! When I used to do WNG’s, I didn’t feel like my hair needed to be moisturised as often, so it really depends.
Yayyy!! A protective style would definitely look great on you. I can't wait to see it!! Thanks for the video, auntie Julie. This is the time of the year I find it hardest to keep my hair moisturized. As always, your tips would help out🔥😊😘
You’re welcome girl 🤗 Yeah, I’m not sure what PS yet, maybe mini twists although I said I was going to do it this time last year but it never happened. But we’ll see 💛
Hi, 🇬🇧🙋🏾♀️. I've just come across your channel for the first time. You're right about how cold it's getting here. I usually moisturize more often and then put a microwave hot headz cap on for 30 minutes afterwards. Moisture for days. Anyhow you've got a new subbie 👍🏽
Hey…welcome to my channel! Thanks so much for subscribing 🤗🤗 The weather is up and down these days. One minute it’s freezing, the next it’s milder! I guess that’s typical British weather for you 😄
Thanks for the video Julie, and great topic!! :) I always struggle during winter as I feel my hair doesn't strive as much as it does during the summer. Actually I think the issue is more the change in temperature during fall, you never really know how to adjust. I was wondering if you could give examples of protein and moisturising treatments that you know of. What ingredients do they have in common. Like for me shea moisture deep conditioner jamaican black castor oil seems to be a bit of moisturising/protein treatment (but I don't really know)... could you maybe share the products that you use during winter vs summers? Obviously it is not to do a complete replicate but just to have an idea. Also sometimes it feels like protective styles and low manipulation styles mean different things to people. I tend to do either high puff or 2 flat twist on the sides because that is all I can do. Then in the evening I moisturise my hair and do cornrow (never managed to get them straight!). So not too sure where that would fall in, for some it would be too much manipulation for others it would be low-manipulation. Thanks
Hey, you’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, our hair definitely thrives more so in warmer climates, because the cold draws all the moisture out of our hair, leaving it dry and brittle. In terms of examples for protein & moisturising conditioners, I have a very useful video I did some years ago breaking it all down and sharing lots of detailed info about the differences between them, including the types of common ingredients found within both protein & moisturising conditioner, a list of different products and basically what to look out for. Here’s the link; ua-cam.com/video/McTCr4tREwQ/v-deo.html Be sure to check the description box, as everything is listed there. I don’t really change the products that I use during different seasons, but will sometimes use oils more so during certain times like the winter, rather than in the summer. As for protective & low maintenance styles, yeah it’s definitely understood in different ways. Also, I think if you are doing cornrows and leaving it as a PS for a week and not undoing it each day, then it’s not too much.
Where in England do you buy hair products ?? Am a newbie here🤦 and can you give me an example of a hair protein. Have never seen a hair product called a hair protein. Where can I find a saloon that can do protective styling on my natural kinky
Awww! 🥰 I just use a Tea Tree Foaming face wash, a primer by Loreal and my foundation is by Black Opal, combined with my oily skin which gives the glow 😄
Hey, you’re welcome! I tend to use the World of curls oil sheen spray which is very moisturising. But any product that contains moisturising ingredients will work well.
Hey, I’ve read that it’s not good to use during the winter because it can cause more dryness and also that you have to make sure the temperature isn’t too cold when mixing for it to be more effective. But I’ve not personally used it before, so I’d definitely recommend doing a bit more research to be sure.
I am getting flue and colds easily when my scalp become wet or water or liquids is on my hair during this season. Yet I know that blow drying stunt my hair growth or slower it. Any advise.
I barely use sulfate shampoo only the moisturizing ones. Maybe once every 3-5 I didn’t know I should use it more frequently. Makes me feel like I have dirty hair now.

I came here for hair tips but I was distracted by the glow of your skin. What skin products do you use?
Awww! 🥰 I just use a Tea Tree Foaming face wash, a primer by Loreal and my foundation is by Black Opal, combined with my oily skin which gives the glow 😄
Great video. How often do you seem to use light protein deep conditioners?
Thanks again! 🤗 I use it every time I wash my hair, so every 1-2 weeks.
Please share videos of your girls' twists, how you maintain them, how frequently you retwist, etc.
Thanks
Yes, I will try my best to do that one of these days.
Hello. Thanks for the tips. What braid spray do you use. All the ones I’ve tried are not moisturising enough
Hey, you’re welcome! I tend to use the World of curls oil sheen spray which is very moisturising. But any product that contains moisturising ingredients will work well.
Hey sis thank you for the winter tip lol 🥰🥰
You’re very welcome! 🤗❤️
Hi,is ok to use Henna for your hair in the winter? I’ve been using Shikaikai to clean my hair then the next day I henna it for gray covering.
Hey, I’ve read that it’s not good to use during the winter because it can cause more dryness and also that you have to make sure the temperature isn’t too cold when mixing for it to be more effective. Hi Have you got some very simple protective styles please. I can't cornrow unfortunately 🙈
I usually wear loose twists in a bun style, you can try this
Hey! Don’t worry, you’re not the only one 😄 But yes, twists are a great and easy PS to do or you can try doing single braids or flat twists.
@@eljoseph4171 Thank you
@@HealthyAfroHair thank you

Maybe try air drying instead, as it’s a healthier option to using heat especially if it’s damaging your hair and making it feel like it’s not growing.

Yeah, it’s definitely beneficial for getting rid of product build up, especially on the scalp. So every once in a while is good!
I love it.
Thank you!

So you can actually keep your natural hair out (no braids, no wigs...) during winter as long as you moisturise it well 🤔?
Yes of course! You can keep it out all year round, it’s just a simple case of consistently doing the right things to take care of it!
@@HealthyAfroHair thank you so much 🙏🏾 ❤️
