"Keep the power. Lose the weight." I can relate to that. I have a 461 and have cut up Red Oaks both over 100 yrs old. However, I am at an age where I prefer a smaller chainsaw. MS261 has 4 HP but weighs considerably less than my 461 with 28" or 20" bars. I'll probably use 18" bar on the 261. I take care of some land, but I am retired and not a professional logger or pulp wood hauler.

I am about to pick up a 261. How do you like it after a few months?

Really useful video. Was looking for a good 261 vs 241 comparison video and surprised how few there are. Would have liked a bit more time going through the features, instead of mostly sawing, but I guess it is the proof of the pudding. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

I just bought a 261 yesterday and had the yellow label chain put on it and Wow what a saw that thing is awesome I love it but be careful with that aggressive chain it will kick back

Nice review! I have a couple 290's with muffler mods and they are so much better than stock I'd highly recommend it. I love the 261 as well just got one to replace my oldest 290 very happy they are interchangeable bars and chains as well!

Hi I liked this video I was just looking at the MS 261-MC as my first real saw, I just melted a Poulan Pro on a job and it's time to move up, are you still happy with it so far ? I read some complain about the M ignition being tricky at times.

I'm still using my 026... 15 years later... 5-10 cords a year, felling and bucking... probably the best saw stihl has made...

Cmaringa a 200 inch bar on the 261 and a 25 inch bar on the 310 is not really fair. The bar on the 261 did not appear to me to be a 20 inch bar. The chain on the 310 appears to me to be dull by the way you were laying into the dogs. As for wearing PPE's I would tell those that complained about your not wearing them to go and suck eggs. I hate the politically correct world we live in, today. Safety is an acceptable degree of risk and what is acceptable to you may not be to me. I only wear chaps when there are lots of briefs and there may be snakes in the area. Otherwise, give me a pair of shorts or blue jeans. I do wear leather gloves but not to protect my hands from a chainsaw but to protect my hands from getting dinged by heavy pieces ofwood or other heavy stuff you find in the woods.

I'm a grown adult, I carry a medkit with me, I think I should be free to decide what protective equipment I'll wear if any. Everyone already knows you're supposed to wear them so I dont see why they're giving this guy hell for not. His choice.

I appreciate all those making chainsaw videos. But, please, please, please in future will you wear the minimum PPE for chainsaw use. It really gives out the wrong message when you don't. Thanks again.

I have one and it's a piece of poo. I have 8 other saws and no other saw that I have or have ever had has given me this much grief. Always in the shop, bad ignition coil, bad processor, bad solenoid, bad ground, absolute garbage.
