    Excellent solution. I used this to get a sticky mounting thing off a painted metal surface. Used the plastic spatula and it removed the mount without scratching the paint. Yes, patience is required, but it works as presented! Thanks!

    I did this today! It worked perfectly! And no residue left... smooth clean wall! I can't believe that I didn't Google this earlier after looking at these hooks on the wall for 2yrs!

    Thank you! I got the same kind of Dollar Tree hooks and realized after I got home that they don't have tabs. (The other ones I've bought there always did, so I didn't look too closely.) I haven't put them up yet because I was worried about this being an issue one day, but now I don't have to worry about trying to return them or spending more money when I'm between jobs. Much appreciated!

    This is great. Thank you. I did have to clean residue off my granddaughters bedroom wall when they were moving. I didn’t have anything to use. So I thought maybe a hot wet cloth. I used a thick old washcloth and held it against the adhesive for about 15 seconds. The cloth was hot and very wet. Then I just rubbed it with the cloth and it came off in a few seconds. It made a hard job so easy.

    I accidentally bought these instead of the ones with the tabs when I went to a different dollartree than the one near my house. I used them to hang garland around my doors and rafters before realizing 😖. Now I have to get them down without my husband becoming aware of my mistake lol

      Hi, sorry this is late. I used "Goo Gone" to remove the left over adhesive. I would just be careful and do a test in a hidden area so you don't ruin the surface-good luck!

    • @74Emm

      you might try it on the lowest setting, maybe test it so first to make sure it doesn't melt the plastic window frame but otherwise, I don't know-sorry

    I saw someone remove the goo from double sided tape with duct tape. Do you think that will work for this if I don’t have goo gone?

    • @74Emm
      @74Emm  4 роки тому

      Do you mean remove the goo with duct tape or double sided tape? I'm not sure if that would work, but if it's a wall your trying to remove the sticky stuff from I might try something like baby oil first, but only if your wall paint has some kind of sheen-like satin or semi gloss finish-not flat paint. Hope this helps!

    • @74Emm
      @74Emm  11 місяців тому +4

      Sorry for the late reply. I'm just going to answer for others here as you might not need this tip anymore. The only way I can think of that you may have ripped the wall with this method is if you tried to pull off the hook before the adhesive was completely melted off the wall. In other words, instead of letting it come off on its own-you pulled on it before it was completely detached from the wall. I did warn about that in the video btw

    Don't have a hairdryer, what to do?

    • @74Emm
      @74Emm  Рік тому +1

      No idea but if you factor in the cost of the alternative (losing a rent deposit or the cost of having to repair damaged walls to include spackle and paint) a $10-$20 blow dryer is probably worth it- especially if you have several of these on your walls

      Update… I used a steam iron. It worked great!!! Iron on highest heat and steam the adhesive, hold it really close to the wall but not enough to damage the wall for about 10-20 sec . The adhesive will come right off.

    It's called a putty knife, not a spatula.

  • @alflores4220
    @alflores4220 2 місяці тому

    That is not a "spatula" it is not a cooking utensil, that is called a putty knife. Never waste your money on those plastic disposable ones, the real ones are made of steel and only cost a dollar or two more and will last.
