Nice one Steve, I'm loving the repair video's your putting up recently. The wife doesn't know it yet but this video will be our prime time Saturday night viewing on the big screen tonight. Thanks

I am enjoying the repair videos too, Steve. That board did look very sad until you got in there. I suspect other people tried to fashion a repair previously.

Hi Steve! What wipes are you using? Are those some Kimtec lint-free wipes? When I use my normal wipes they make a bigger mess than the flux itself

any synthetic fiber wipes will do just fine, like the left over dried ones from any supermarket antiseptic wipes.

Those heaphone jacks are a nightmare. The normal foorprint is really small why you can easily rip the jack off the board. Happened a few times to me on my MiniAmps. I made my own footprint with much lager pads which seems to hold now! And the glue.... I do exactly the same thing just to be sure (same Glue even! Well allmost, I just use Kafuter 303, wich is a bit less viscous)! 😀

Can you recommend the solder wick? I bought a couple of very cheap ones from Aliexpress, but they all are waste of money.

NTE solder wick blue. Best of the best

NTE is a good brand. I've used Chem-Wick (by Chemtronics) at my company for decades with excellent results. You would do well with either one, depending on which is available in your area.

So typical of Chinese construction methods that. Made to look very premium on the outside, but the build quality once it's handed over to humans for final assembly is absolute lowest common denominator stuff, like a pound-shop toy. See it all the time, even on £2000 devices.

You know you can buy replacement pads and traces.
