- In this VladTV exclusive, Douglas "Boobie" Stepney sat down and detailed going from a crack dealer to the founder and leader of Big Block. The San Francisco street legend described growing up in infamous Hunters Point during the 70s-80s. He described becoming a drug dealer during his teens and how crack transformed the community. Yeah... I know Boob because I owned a Recording Studio on 3rd street in San Francisco where Big Block did a lot of records. It is a Sad thing that so many Young People Died in that neighborhood and continue to Die on the streets of SF or end up in Prison. San Francisco had So Much Talent back then I remember recording local Rappers who where as good as anything on the radio at that time but unfortunately what they were saying in some of the songs caused problems on the street. One thing I can also say is some of the Guys who ran their own Record Labels Like Herm, Jeff Beasley, Black C, Boobie, Richie Rich, Money Mike, Jeff Beasley, Email and last but not least My Lil'Brotha JT, they had as Good of Business Minds as any Finicial District Business Men. San Francisco is a Cold Blooded Place to Live because it is So Expensive it forces you to Hustle just to Survive. A guy by the name of TC came to my Home Studio at the time on Revere St and changed my life Forever! TC, My Brother Race and I Teamed up to produce tracks that included 11/5, Cold World Hustlers, Cougnut, Totally Insane, Cloud Nine, Big Mac, Guce, Deuce Tray, Herm, Ballhead Rick, Dre Dog, Sugar Bear, RBL, Mac Dre, Sic-n-Sane Criminals, San Quinn, Messy Marv and countless other Bay Area Rappers. It was a Hell of a Ride before it all went South. I just wish we could have taken it to The Top before we started Turning on each other.

This story brings back flashbacks for me. I worked at the fire station located about one mile from Big Block, from 1996 until 2011. I was fortunate enough to retire in June of 2020 . Between our fire station and the fire station located on the other side of the hill and other fire stations located in Battalion 10 ( also known as The Lost battalion) we responded to all the shootings and violence that was described in the story. I was working the night the police officer got killed. I know all about Middle Point, West Point, the 200 block of West Point by the basketball court, Harbor Row, kiska, Ingalls, Etc.. there were times when we would hear the gunfire before it was even called in to 911. I have no hard feelings against this man or anyone else living on the hill at that time, I just figured they were trying to do what they had to do. Our job was never to judge it was just to provide the best service we could. We gave the same respect and courtesy that we would give the people that live a mile in the other direction in the million-dollar houses of Dogpatch. All I ask is that when you make your movie give a shout out to the First Responders of the SFFD that showed up each and every time and gave the best service we could✊🏾
