Shower without your kit, do the kit separately. Else hair and dead skin are more likely to remain in the fabric (food for mites). Don’t use soap, rather fill the sink, add a drop of shampoo or two; soak for 30s or thereabouts (reduces bacteria which eventually make it smelly), then rinse in the shower. - Shoes, remove the insoles of course when letting them dry. :-)
Yes you open the side of the packet not the top. Regarding Ice Creams (lollies) push the lolly up through the top of the wrapper holding the stick and pulling the wrapper down. When it melts it drips into the wrapper and not down your hands.
Happy riding guys, your rocking this bikepacking journey. Thanks for creating some awesome content for us at home to enjoy as we sit here waiting for the rain to disappear. Chelsea c:
You're suppose to tear the snacks open perpendicularly at the top. Often it will have jagged waves at the top or a small line indicating where to tear it open.
Your trip got vibes like that episode with Beard from Ted Lasso. It's strange, hard but with relatively happy ending everyday. Keep it up. It's a great experience.
For breakfast you guys really need to get some Kaya Toast with the half boiled eggs. Will give you all the sugar carbs and protein you need to get the day started. Get a local straits style coffee (Kopi-O but depends on dialect in MY) for caffeine and you’re off to the races! Let’s go! Like there’s so much good food in Malaysia and you’re… in gas stations for snacks. Get some char kway teow, bee hoon, or nasi lemak in ya!
unfortunately this is the fasting month so all the plenty of food is available only before sunrise or after sunset… Unless of course you go to a Chinese place, which is a bit more difficult to find along the way in the kampung…
The traffic lights r probably busted😂 nice video edits btw, really amazed at the speed you pump out the vid after a long sweaty n hot day in M’sia. Don’t forget to fuel up with some Milo ‘chocolate’ drinks! Best way for instant watt gains 😂
The shower kit wash - towel trick is a fantastic hack - I think you featured it before and why I knew about it previously. I've used it bikepacking on many occasion and can confirm it really does work and keeps your kit smelling fresh (well smelling of whatever free shampoo / shower gel the hotel provides anyway!)
Haha load the maps.. thanks for the reminder - off to the canaries island for Granguanche end of the month - seeing a bit more info on the screen always helpful - especially the elevation profile!
haha, you can usually open the bags by tearing one of the top corners off about an inch from the edge - tear down from top to bottom and you'll get a little whole in the top left/right of the bag. At least, that's how they work in the Philippines!
an old trick for the packets is to use pressure. just press strongly one end of the packet until it pops on the other end. i am not sure how powerful these seals are but it almost always works, guys. keep the popping end covered with your other hand so you don't spill the contents. it might be loud.... prepare for that. :) lovely trip, by the way.! xox
My cycling buddies always made fun of me for carrying a compact folding knife, but these bags of "crisps" make my point valid. Plus, a good pointed blade works great to pick out debris out of your tires or defend against dogs (I have used my knife in that scenario against a very aggressive dog who bit my friend). It doesn't have to be very big, a 2" or smaller blade works.
it is quite humid in Malaysia to dry your kit, we need to place it under an air conditioning unit and also a fan. The bib padding is quite thick though.😅
Guys.. try out Lemang for ur fueling strategy. Loads of carb and u can store it in ur backpockets And for your hydration, try fresh coconut water. Should be about USD1 per nut :)
Crips bag issue: because we have high humidity here, if the seal is done properly, the stock cant last. So downside is, hard to open. U can ask for help from shop
lol. To open the package just tear it off at the top on those jagged and it’s open easily. And hope you can try cycle up to Cameron highland it’s 45km up the mountain and 1600m elevation. To the top of the mountain at the BHP petrol station there.
You guys should do a bikepacking video in Namibia, and visit the steel frame builders at Onguza Bikes. They are doing some cool things. Maybe order a custom frame and pick it up there and ride around.
I can’t believe you don’t try opening the bottom end of the crisps😂 plus if you roll the towel diagonally you can use your foot to hold the bottom end and get a good two-handed wring on the towel
You should go to the night markets as you’re there in Ramadan, which might explain the lack of food options in the daytime. Try the deep fried Tempeh if you’re veggie. By the side of the road there will also be food stalls selling guava and local fruits with spicy sauces. You also have to eat durian for the first time live on camera 😅 When you get to KL you should go to Jalan Alor for good food stalls and beers
Durian in this heat, not sure thats a good idea, fueling while cycling. Malaysia has not had this kinda heat since COVID Maybe after the ride in the evening. Just remember to turn on the AC full blast haha
Did you get the tailfin for Lawrence with it being one of your sponsors? And is that why there was the mix up over fittings? If so, nice little score for Lawrence if he gets to keep it post trip 👍
@@bbikerlawrence bet you thought when Ben brought you a spare hanger the trip was going to go without any issues 😂 loving the videos, thanks for sharing.
So, to open the sealed plastic bag you have to open the seam on the backside. Open it to the top of the bag. Now, hold on to the opened out back seam and pinch the front of bag and pull open being careful not to rip the bag and fling out all the crispy chips!!!

Pump Action Francis AWOL
Watching all 3 channels together is like some Indy film where it jumps around the timeline 🤣
😂
The towel trick is the best. We did this every day as we bike packed across France. Dry in the morning every time without fail.
Pro tip.
My favorite 8 to 10 minutes every morning. Love you guys
Regarding the packets of crisps - tear the packet vertically! They are not designed to be pulled apart.
Yes you open the side of the packet not the top. Regarding Ice Creams (lollies) push the lolly up through the top of the wrapper holding the stick and pulling the wrapper down. When it melts it drips into the wrapper and not down your hands.
Don’t tell them shhhh
Squeeze from the bottom 😅 that's the only proper way
Aren't crisps/chips and ice cream bad food for cycling?
And they had mcdonalds too 😅
4:00 “Ring! You’re ring…. You’re ring” 😂
Happy riding guys, your rocking this bikepacking journey. Thanks for creating some awesome content for us at home to enjoy as we sit here waiting for the rain to disappear.
Chelsea c:
Love the haircut Francis! It looks really good! Your barber is on their game!
3:32 you should visit the local bicycle apparel shop right opposite the Ring Ring shop. MBO Kuala Kangsar.
Now it's clicking...I have seen you trio at my hometown 4:34😂...yeah the traffic here would take time
You're suppose to tear the snacks open perpendicularly at the top. Often it will have jagged waves at the top or a small line indicating where to tear it open.
Thanks Francis , Ben and Lawrence....
Ben is such a showman, and a barber on the go as well.
Your trip got vibes like that episode with Beard from Ted Lasso. It's strange, hard but with relatively happy ending everyday. Keep it up. It's a great experience.
Loving the adventure so far. The editing is great / funny!

When you’re in Ipoh you should go to see the train station and then after to the reggae bar for a pint 😎🚲👍
That dance, I needed that, thank you!
The traffic lights r probably busted😂 nice video edits btw, really amazed at the speed you pump out the vid after a long sweaty n hot day in M’sia. Don’t forget to fuel up with some Milo ‘chocolate’ drinks! Best way for instant watt gains 😂
Nice Towel Trick, I press it by hand but this seems to absorb water better by rolling & wringing it, Thanks.
Ben & Lawrence are freaking hilarious
Looks like a fun adventure guys.
1:00 Lawrence in this shot. On the phone. Helmet straps swinging. Bike zig-zagging. Car approaching.😂

This series is super fun, well done.
Haha load the maps.. thanks for the reminder - off to the canaries island for Granguanche end of the month - seeing a bit more info on the screen always helpful - especially the elevation profile!
I spent several months in Ipoh - love that place and hope you start enjoying the massive variety of wonderful food now that jet lag is subsiding.
Cannot wait the mornings, just sit on toilet and watching new episode😄 Greetings from Hungary!🤘🏼
As a SEA, Lawrence raving over dried mangos makes me happy.
Nice towel hack 👌 Ben makes me very nervous when riding side saddle 😟
Cycling in Asia is a blast! Enjoy the trip lads!
Ring piece, everyone should know this 🤣 I got you chappers
Dying at the dance number
That trick 😮, I needed that!! That’s coming in useful, that’s in the bank of cool ideas 🤩🤗
That Towel trick works... you just gotta finish your ride early and wash ASAP... but it works man...
Ben, Ben , Ben......dancing and cat walking in front of the Sony store had me crying with laughter 😂
3:17 you have pass by the oldest rubber tree in Malaysia. Welcome to my hometown Kuala Kangsar.😅
haha, you can usually open the bags by tearing one of the top corners off about an inch from the edge - tear down from top to bottom and you'll get a little whole in the top left/right of the bag. At least, that's how they work in the Philippines!
Gents you gotta try Funny Mountain Soymilk while you're in Ipoh. Cycle around Concubine Lane area as well.

Most important tool for this kind of tour. Bring a Ben!
Funny AF! Love it. Great video diary boys.
Does Lawrence ever smile 😂.. love the guy
Smile on the inside lol
I can vouch for the fact that the towel hack really does work :)
Awesome vid, just wished you did NZ
Yes just you on the ring part 😂😂
thank you for the video Francis🤣👍

Amazing!
When I travel, I always want to try the local cusine of McDonalds. It does not taste thebsame everywhere. But that's good.

Thoroughly enjoyable stuff

Been following your journey. Even we Malaysian can't stand cycling in the weather here. Anyway stay safe guys
I know this washing kit 'system'. How, because I saw you use it on the across US trip!
ATTN! Opening a bag of crisps by grabbing it at either side at the top and tearing it like paper. Hope this helps!
I’ve really missed these videos
Welcome to Ipoh 🎉
Great shapes at 5.20 😎😎
Please shout “show me the money “!!!! 😂
What kit are you wearing?
Looks really nice!
I knew the towel trick, but not the shower with kit on trick. Nice.
I can’t believe you don’t try opening the bottom end of the crisps😂 plus if you roll the towel diagonally you can use your foot to hold the bottom end and get a good two-handed wring on the towel
Great tip
You should find one of the full-on Japanese style Family Marts for your snack breaks. Will change your life

Maybe after the ride in the evening. Just remember to turn on the AC full blast haha
The glue in the crisps packages is strong probably because of the climate. They don't want the glue to melt in the heat. Just a guess.
in SEA we dont pull apart our chips and nuts packets, we tear them at the edge 😂
Great trick, thank you.
Try having Ice Kacang and Chendol desserts during lunch to cool down.
i used to always do the towel trick but then i realized spin cycle makes more sense.
Ring Ring👌😂
Thanks for towel tip.
2:06 Taiping has lots of choices of local cuisine. You missed it. 😂
"how's YOUR training going?" 🤣 what a d*** - love it!
I missed bike packing trips content!
The only restaurant that gave me stomach issues was McDonalds. Local food may process quicker though 😊 Roti canai (chanai) is fantastic for breakfast.
Did you get the tailfin for Lawrence with it being one of your sponsors? And is that why there was the mix up over fittings?
If so, nice little score for Lawrence if he gets to keep it post trip 👍
I already am sponsored by tailfin but the last minute change of bike mess d it all up!
@@bbikerlawrence bet you thought when Ben brought you a spare hanger the trip was going to go without any issues 😂 loving the videos, thanks for sharing.

3:25 any reason why some cyclists spray water like him on other cylist/roads?
Is Ben wearing Siroko jersey?? 🥰🥰🥰
Yes, Nomad Slalom.
Came here looking for this. Thank you, internet strangers!
I was here 1 month ago, doing the same trip1
Do you fellas not go out on the lash every night? what sort of trip is this????
The best time to ride in south east asia it's when cloudy or raining.
The infinity pool and rain - didn’t have you that in Pt.2? Is this another day?
Dried mangoes nice!
4:48 - SQUARE PEPPERONI PIZZA NEXT TO BEN
5:07 = "BDM"
Bens Disco Minute
Dried mango is the best😊
Yep crisps from Asia are impossible to open have to just rip them open!
was BikeFitJames supposed to come?
Ben is *still* epic.
Do they give out Webby awards for best dance intermissions? If so, I'm pretty sure we have a winner
Thought it was sarcasm at first but that's a good trick.
looks like francis's helmet is a small, hmm i wonder
damn Malaysia looks crazy
