As for grocery shopping, NEVER go into a grocery store without a list and buy only what is on that list.

#4 money math not working out perfectly.... YES. I identified with this so strongly. I try to set a budget and keep track of every dime. Then something always costs more or an extra expense comes up. Then you end up spending even MORE because your budget is blown, so why not? Great tips. Appreciate your humor and wisdom. Those are needed in life!

    Insightful video!
I’m on track to save my first 100k and it’s liberating.
I hope to continue making better decisions.

Thank you for a great video! I avoid grocery shopping at the end of a long work week. It is a mental thing for me; I will convince myself that I deserve a treat after a long work week and before I know it I am buying a bunch of junk!

Thank you for keeping your information simple and relatable. I agree when I was younger I didn't want to listen to financial advice from my elders because for starters they themselves weren't making good financial decisions and it was almost a culture in itself to be in debt. But the other reason was I felt like they used too many words and never quite got to the point so listening to them talk about money was boring. Your videos are a blessing.

    Hi LaJuan,
I came across your videos because I was in a really fortunate situation: I live in LA and my friends let me live in their house while I worked to get some money up. I make not a lot of money, but I thought that without rent I'd be able to save. To my shock I was spending like, 2 grand a month. A complete waste of my friend's generosity, I was ashamed.
You have a unique situation to me. I, too, was living in Japan as an ESL teacher. The work was miserable but my quality of living was high. I left back to America because corpo Japan was just awful and I couldn't take it.
Your way of finances is what I am trying to emulate, especially investing, and I think your idea of 'investing' is very refreshing. I never thought of it like that. I, too, thought that investing was only for rich people and is too complicated (I still think this).
What hit me true from your video is fantasizing about stuff you can't really buy without going into debt. I'm trying to get a motorcycle right now and, I can actually afford it ... but it's a huge purchase, so I am running into the redline trying to plan out the finances (Initial purchase, maintenance, gear...) and it is exhausting. The fantasy exhausts me.
Also, about FOMO... I didn't consider that, should I choose to do something I def can't afford, I wont enjoy it because I'd be stressing out about the costs. I'll take that with me now.
Your content is cool and I hope you make more of it. Good luck in Japan, I know that it can be hard out there, but you seem to be getting on just fine.

Very interesting video! Do you think its better to have your accounts at different banks versus having everything in one institution?
Also, I've been really enjoying reading your newsletter! Its nice to have a little more insight outside the video content tehehe

@@juliagoolia08 Julia the level I love you is insane 🤣 I have sub accounts at banks ( one for saving for foreseen costs like our resident taxes and one for current spending ) and the emergency fund is in a separate bank. I think it's important in the event I have an issue with one bank but need money short term I can access at another.
Again I'm infinitely greatful for your support as always. You're a champ!

Hi. Can you make a video about your MINIMALISM. Not Frugality, but MINIMALISM. For example, how do you decide how many shirts or items of clothing to own? Do you ever get rid of stuff to maintain a minimalist environment? How do you balance the quantity and quality of items you own?
