With RFA's if you wait till about day 3 of FA, lower overall players will ask for a more realistic contract or a 1 year deal. Teams don't offers other teams RFAs a deal until after day 5 and usually its only for higher overall players so you wouldn't have to worry about that. Just something you should keep in mind!!
Suggestion time, Johnny! Maybe trade Manson for picks, and flip some of those picks/your other picks to get Hronek from Detroit. $5.2/4 years is a bit high for him, but he could grow into a stud, and I'm pretty sure he's a solid penalty killer. If he doesn't pan out, that's still definitely a tradeable contract.
Johnny, 1 & 2 way contracts do not work exactly as you think... Waivers eligibility has to do with NHL games played and age. 1-way or 2-way have implications on your salary cap - players on a 2 way contract make a specific salary in the NHL and a separate specific salary in the AHL (which does not count towards your cap when in the AHL), but players on 2-way deals can still become waivers eligible when they reach their age or games player threshold. 1-way deals can also go up and down to and from the AHL with or without waivers depending on their eligibility requirements, BUT if you send a 1-way contract to the AHL you can only burry 900k of salary, anything beyond that will count to your NHL cap total.

Trade Ekholm and Manson in order to clear up space for your younger defenders to actually get some playing time and grow, won’t affect Gibson as much as you think.
Don’t forget to grab a few depth guys like maybe a cizikas incase you want to sell at the trade deadline. You also don’t have to pay depth right away in free agency. If you wait like three weeks and go back in there are usually one or two decent low 80’s willing to take a cut
Just throwing it out there Johnny, if you want high chemistry on offense, try a sniper power forward and playmaker combo, they can usually hit 3-5 chemistry
Just had a thought about the contract rules. Unfortunatly still no NTC/NMC available for us in GM Mode. So i was thinking about the value of NTC/NMC as added incentive for players to sign with teams, however the team does have to live with that restrictive contract. Now how to apply it to EAs system. Even if you pretend to give a player a movement clause on a contract it could be hard to remember it after awhile unless you right it down. So how do you apply added vaule to the contract to entice the player to your team and away from other teams, BUT, also give the illusion that the player has control over there fate (ei; hard to trade away because the player has yet to agree to a move) as one would if they actually had a movement clause on the contract. So like a NTC/NMC simulator if you will. After you "negotiate" a contract with a player, and are about to offer the money per year to your player why not add a "NTC" value to the contract which might be an extra 1.5 mill or 2 mill per year, or a MNC is worth 2.5 mill type of idea. This way it simulates all the aspects of the added value to the contract and also when you decide to move the player its a lot harder just like it would be in real life. The only downside to this method is the extra cap hit, HOWEVER, just like teams who love giving out movement clauses it will eventually screw them over from being able to make moves, the same can be said about a cap problem you are bound to get into with to many movement claus bonuses from my suggestion. Some arguements about this could be "Why would you offer a 24 year old RFA an extra 2 mill a year on a 8 year contract?". Its for the other end of the contract for when hes 31 and making an extra 2 mill then he should while at the same time your trying to move him it can simulate the difficulty of real life frustration on trying to negotiate with a player that its better if they agree to the trade and move across country by waiving there movement clause. For UFAs it very similar, just trying to increase the value of the contract and entice the player but having to live with the consequences of the contract years later. Im just trying to figure out how much a NTC/MNC value on a contract should be 1.5mill/2mill? Or maybe a certian percentage of the cap since the cap increases every year and 12 years down the road a 1.5mill per year increase doesn't hold the same weight anymore. Also you could apply the same principles to 35+ year old 1-way contracts so add an extra 1.5 mill to a contract offer per year to a older player and when you want to trade them throw in a 1st rounder (Thanks Marleau). Anyways thats my idea been watching for 10 years you taught me how to play GM Mode thanks for the great content.

Needs: 1st line scorer and or hitter to compliment Getzlaf . 2nd line big time scorer Bring up zegras to 3rd or 4th line find one or 2 who can be switched during season as scratch and play. Trade Manson for an ahl player who is 75 or 76 then next year bring up. Look at your ahl squad to fill roster then sign from FA. Also fiddle around with players on your 3 man lines till you get either plus in chemistry or even. Don't leave it untouched. Try to get +3 or at least +1 .
Johnny, Coaches grow faster with better chemistry on the team. Even if you have a losing record, multiple +5s can bring a coach from a B- to an A- in one season
you should try and move 1 of your defence man because there is a plethora of them and the offence could use another sold scoring piece like a 82-85 sniper.
Please play some more civ 6 because it’s a really great series and I really don’t think a great series should ever stop the way this one seems to have.
