Very very intresting to watch how time did change ballett...I guess,people can argue forever...if the standards today are higher or have been before. Me as non ballett expert...i can only say: The ballett from earlier times was more concentraited on acting and expression...for sure! The ballerinas to day defenetly are strong in technique but the acting skills are not very strong. Time changes not only people ,time changes everything I guess and there is no exception for ballett😂❤
what have you been watching recently? too many earwhacking fridgid gymnasts passing themselves off as true ballerinas. Todays standards are better in some ways but can lead to cold performances with no personality. not true of all modern day ballerinas such Marinela Nunez who has class, beauty and pure excellence even though shes no spring chicken. to me can knock spots off Osipova who looks the same no matter what role shes performing. They didnt have pilates sessions, yoga and numerous personnel working on thier bodies in those days it was down to pure NATURAL talent and hard graft under very often crap surroundings in shabby rehearsal conditions.
