I am British, well, in fact, Scottish, and my wife of 21 years is Estonian. I have visited Tallinn many times over the years, a wonderful city! My wife returned to Tallinn last May - she got a great job and now I am going to be joining her there for good! Any problems?YES! You cannot buy British newspapers!! !!

Great video. I am a software engineer that will be working remotely with the digital nomad visa in Estonia as well! I will be moving in December and staying for a year at least.

Cute... I am an US expat in Latvia since 2019, and I agree Estonia is amazing. Latvia is pretty close, except not as slick as Estonia in some areas. I am always impressed about the integration of everything electronically here. In the US, we are still in the stone age as for electronic integration across all 50 states.
Latvia has a little bit more of a Soviet legacy and mentality to grapple with than Estonia. And you are correct about how peaceful things are, I was amazed that children confidently walk to and from school at a small age and play in the parks without the sense of dread that something terrible is about to happen. I remember when the US was like that but that before the 80's and things just seem so paranoid now in the US.
You could easily be comfortable in the Baltics with a modest salary than what would be required to earn in the US or other European capitals.

Thank you for your comment! 😇 Hope you are enjoying in the Baltics.
It's so refreshing to realise that despite belonging from different corners of the world, we can sense the peace in the Baltics.
I visited Riga and can relate to how you mentioned about its Soviet legacy. Estonia in some way was able to take a strong turn to make its own 'personality' after its independence and must say, it has gained impressive growth. I have not come across even a single beggar here and the level of equality, safety, peace amazes me. It has definitely done a lot of things the right way. 🇪🇪

Never had a courage or possibility to go live in other countries. I envy and admire those who do. I believe one special thing about Estonia is that there are 4 seasons. You can't say the same for many other places. I love to see how birds come back in spring and feel sad when they fly away in autumn. The cycle of life. Wish I spent more time in nature. Wish you good time here.

Not surprised that you did not try moving out because Estonia in itself is so fulfilling and a happy place to live. Even though you have a strong passport and can easily live in other places, I’m surely living in Estonia is beautiful enough to keep you here 🇪🇪✨✨

    Nice vid!
Regarding the trams in Tallinn, are delays common? If there are some differences between the schedules shown in google maps vs actual, how many minutes do you experience at the most?
Also, is commuting by bicycle common?
Have you tried the inter-city trains like Tallinn to Viljandi or Tallinn to Valga?

    • @shreyamahendru_
      @shreyamahendru_  Рік тому +1

Hey! Thank you for your comment ✨
Yes delays were common especially in the winter when trams would face heavy snow. But since the frequency is good, it is barely by 5-10 mins at max. Mostly they are on time as per Google Maps, even locals rely on Google Maps for timings.
Bicycle is very common in the summer season, you can also have those tiny scooters (I’ve shown them in my vlog). I tried Tallinn-Tartu train for 10eur and it was very comfortable, on time, and had beautiful views on the way. Highly suggested to commute intercity if you get a chance 🇪🇪

@@shreyamahendru_ It is true. Are you trying to learn Estonian. I found quite a few Indians in Estonia and Latvia who had been there for a number of years but had not learnt any of the local language. One couple were in a small town where the locals in the shop did not speak English. and I found to my surprise they had lived in Riga (supposedly studied) for two years but could not speak any Latvian. This is a trait similar to Russians and why both Estonia and Latvia have to encourage their sizeable Russian speaking minority to assimilate..
