Hi Muchele, I don't think there's any restrictions on who can buy property. Living here is different as you would need a visa but there are many options for that. The D7 visa seems to be the most popular option for those who don't need to work in Portugal and can live off a passive income like a pension.

Nice property with potential. Price of real estate in Portugal is really skyrocketing! Young local couples trying to start a family just can’t compete with buyers from abroad especially with current salaries and interest rates in Portugal.
This problem is worldwide unfortunately. Young couples and locals cant afford to live or buy in other countries either. London, New York, Berlin, Paris, Sydney, Cape Town etc... When I moved here 5 years ago and bought our farm, the locals were really confused as to why we wanted to live out here and not in the city or by the coast. They did not see the value in these old places, and the younger people I spoke with all wanted to live in the big cities or move abroad. This seems to be changing now that the value of these rural properties are going up due to people buying them again. The majority of the properties I film are Portuguese owned, and its the owners that set the asking prices (not the estate agents who can only advise). I read a lot of comments online about how foreigners are driving up prices, but in reality its the Portuguese owners/sellers that are setting these asking prices and benefitting from the sale. But again this problem is worldwide, and even though prices are going up, its still a lot cheaper to buy and live here than most other countries in Western Europe.

Absolutely AMAZING space, especially the outdoors (although is there a big bridge at the back next to the tank? Must be well noisy) BUT horrible horrible decor 🤢and layout for such a big awesome space, would cost tons to change, and a huge headsore for anything other than a tourist place as it's too big to maintain and it also needs A LOT of work done. So this is my expert opinion 😅👍
I love the antiques, especially the marvellous light fixtures! The ceiling medallions are gorgeous. This is a beautiful, historically important property. Obviously it is not to your taste, but that does not make it "horrible".

Hi, behind the tank there is a cemitery and a football stadium of the local town, i can assure to you that it is a hell of a quiet zone with almost no cars passing by the house!

I don't normally respond to negativity but I'm a bit confused by these comments, as I was the first channel to create these property tour style videos, and they have been an integral part of my journey here, and my vlogs for the last 5 years. A large majority of our viewers are looking at buying property in portugal, to be able to live the lifestyle that we are showing in our vlogs. And more importantly, I really enjoy visiting different houses and farms in portugal, and making video tours of them. You can clearly see the difference between a "Portugal Farm Life" video and a property tour video, based on the thumbnail and title, and no one is forcing you to watch. Don't stress me out 😅, life's too short. It's Sunday, crack a cold beer and enjoy yourself 😁🍻👍
Please remember that its important to let people know that if the outbuildings were rurally designated then they usually cannot be made into residences. Not good to paint that kind of picture without people being aware of the strict zoning rules in Portugal.

Anyone can buy property in Portugal as a US citizen. Now, living in it 365-6 days a year requires an EU citizenship or a residency permit.
