people were making fl tutorials in 2008. RESPECT!
Posted in 2008, watching in 2018 with FL 20 coming out soon
Scooter1 how do you get it on fl studio 20?
Pyro Technical It is not available on FL 20 as it is 32 bit and everything on fl 20 for mac at least needs to be 64 bit
watching in 2019, with fl studio 20.5 out
m2 :D
It is available now for fl 20 you have to load it on to a mixer track instead of a instrument track thought
Bro that's actually a sweet beat old school type
u scratch my back. i scratch yours
hahahaha xD
LMAO
🤣
13 years later, this is still good.
That beat is so hard!!!!
That beat is bananas!
I came here because of Slim Shady's new single "Berzerk" lol
if you're having trouble making your scratching sound good PLEASE READ!!
you can input your scratches manually with the piano roll, go to the down arrow of the "velocity" (where you can edit panning and whatnot) and it will have the "wave position" option (the pink section at 7:49). you can mess around with the sounds there.
It's like the difference between playing the piano, and clicking in the piano roll
YW
a tutorial for fl 11 please D:
Wow dude your tuts are making me go insane, i love how you utilize the loops !
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Where can I get some good samples for scratching because I like the sound you have there

@@JaysonPlaysMinecraft even though this comment is two years old. Hi.
I've read it! and now I'm recommending it to people who ask as well! Excellent find. I can't believe someone took the time to put those "cadence" sheets together! Amazing.

I'm planning an "FM Synthesis explained visually" tutorial - I've got my source material all set up, I just need to be able to show how to predict what the hell it will sound like after the knobs are moved. I'm still mystified, but I can finally understand the transformation that occurs.
The tempo can't be separated from pitch in the scratcher, but you can map a controller to the SPD knob on the scratcher.
Awesome video man! One thing, I have FL 7 and the default mode for the envelope controller is uh, well I cant remember, but the default setting has it so when you link the mute button and press a key it only turns it off once and keeps it off. I had to mess with it and found that I had to change the mode to the next one down to get the desired result. Anyways, thanks!
had this issue as well. went to the envelope drop down menu, presets, and then default (unipolar product). fixed the issue of it staying off.
watching it in 2020 its almost 2021 and its still relevant
this video is still useful in 2018, thanks bro :)
WHY DO U SOUND SO MUCH LIKE JAMES FRANCO?!?!?!!
@DCP1292 Try also a different sound driver if you have the ASIO package installed, I usually get better performance with that. If not, you might be getting underruns simply due to your CPU not being able to keep up. Might be time to upgrade or get an ASIO compatible sound card.
So that you can use a midi controller or a keyboard key as a "hold" switch. If you link the midi controller to the mute button directly, you will end up with a "toggle" effect, which is impossible to get good rhythm with.
@henrijuhani Ha! I only get 43ms when I do these videos! The sound won't be in it if I use ASIO drivers while doing my video capture - the video program doesn;t know ASIO. Bummer.
one of the first tutorials people i would watch, funny how i came back 10 years later lol
Awesome, thanks so much for putting this together. I've been trying to pick up FL by ear, but couldn't figure out how to set the scratcher up.
@hudini2 Yes you can. However, because the method I showed utilized Midi signalling, I prefer that as it would produce a smaller FLP file and is easier to edit.
@culturaleyes Yep! You can do it two ways. You can go to your mute mapping on the scratcher, and change the formula from "normal" to "inverted", which will reverse the ON/OFF positions, or you can change the position of the Level and Envelope faders on the "Fruity envelope controller" to be opposite what I show in the vid. This will keep the mute button signalled, and send a negative signal when you press.
1 - Click on the channel that you would like to use with the scratcher, hich will open up the Channel Settings window
2 - Double click on the effect selector (top right hand corner of the Channel Settings window - labeled "FX")
3 - Select a clear effect channel
4 - Add the effect "Fruity Scratcher" from your effects list
Thanks for tutorial. Its a good way to scratch on sample sound to make it more original also.
Is that a Cypress Hill back track i hear? :D
This tutorial really helped me out, six years after you even uploaded it.Thanks!
Hey check out my latest Track made in FL Studio "Scatter The Pitch"! It's comparable to a lot of great EDM artists work! FL Studio 11 Play Through Scatter the Pitch
Cool! If you'll check out Beat Generals on here they have got FL studio trainings demonstrating how you can make beats, mix beats, master beats, etc for any one searching for a bit of extra help and even hoping to try to improve.
just use GRoSS beat!?
+Malik “Nitro Area51” Bridges Yeah, I agree. But GroSS beat didn't exist when I made this in 2007
ive been watching a bunch of old tutorials and theres alot of goof balls suggesting things that didnt exist back in the day haha #12YearFLStudioUser
I like the sound you create with the track and the scratch
This video is really incredibly good! If you try to find BeatGenerals in UA-cam they have got more detailed info about this stuff though!!
Great video
@meshlife88 I too have an akai MPK 49 and wanted to link this to the fader it wasnt working at first but I linked the "hold" button on the scratcher to the first fader on the midi controller and turned that fader all the way up so the hold button was lit up. Then i right clicked the vinyl and linked that to the second fader on my controller to act as a crossfader for scratching. as long as you have the hold buttojn lit up it will work hope this helps.
Hey thanks for the tip, nice one. I'll try it out!
Very nice tutorial!
Don't know if someone can help me with this: I can't do the scrathing while using the mute (with my z key). Basically, if I click on the scratcher to do a bit of scratching, the z key does not respond and I have to click on the top of the pluggin (where it's written "fruity scratcher") so that the z key responds, but then I am faced with the same problem since I can't do the scratching while using the mute. Is there some kind of setting that could negate this effect?
Edit: I did some research and it has to do with"host priority keystrokes". There are some ways to turn it off on synths but I do not find any on the scratcher. Has anybody found a way to turn the host priority off? It's really annoying.
Did you ever find a fix?
@@aleksi2627 Nope
@AcePincter Haha, I know this is an old post, but I had the same problem. I use Camtasia Studio for my video capture. If you use it too, (maybe it might work even if you don't) I exit out of the video recorder, go into FL, change my audio driver to my primary sound driver, then I open the video recorder, and while that's open, go back into FL and then you can select your ASIO driver, and it *should* work. Kind of a loophole, I guess.
Fuck man, when I watch some of these videos Im always feelin stupid as hell...I been using FL for eight years and I dont know shit, I thought my beats were really good but theres so much I dont know about effects and ...well everything.
I would love for someone to help me with the technical side of things, me beats are good but I need that boost, peep the channel if ur curious.
I see that you are still using the same youtube channel so my question is, I did everything you did but I make the envelope and I set it in the controller link for the mute everything work fine but not when I click on any part of the fruity scratch window, like for exemple it works fine If I don't lick on the turntable to scratch... it's like my keaboard doesn't mute anymore if I click on the scratcher window
This video is 11 years old and it has better quality than a lot of videos that come out nowadays lmfao
2021
@dvsjaymusic It is accurate, DVS - but it's cumbersome. They added in the Fruity Envelope controller to do a simple envelope without having to use 2 components and waste a mixer insert in the process. Plus, you can get a hell of a lot of extra features out of using the envelope design on this tool.
i did not understand the part where you scratch and it automatically detects the sounds and mutes on the empty part?
i got it linked to the envelope but when I scrtach either its mute and when I turn the mute of its you know what! but I can get it working with what you call that formula controller but not the way you got with env detecting empty stuff ..
please tell! and discard my last comment! it was for my chat box!
Circle of fiths as your wallpaper? That must be useful, I need to learn the circle of fifths, ive watched a few vids but i stil dunno how the heck to use it
Ah! Bi-polar or Unipolar mode! This refers to whether the envelope can be used to go into negative value (bipolar). In my case I just adjusted the faders until it worked!
I have an Akai MPK49 and I connected one of its sliders to the turntable on the Fruitscape Scratcher. It works when the play buttons are off, it feels great. But, when you turn either reverse or forward on it no longer catches it, it doesn't work. I was wondering if you have tried something like this, instead of the mouse, and got it to work?
hey I am having problems with this. after I assign the mute button to the envelope controller, when I press a key on the keyboard, the volume comes on, and it's only when I let go of the key that it is muted. is there any way to reverse this, so that when I press the key, it mutes? thanks if you can help
Hey, contrary to most questions here, how do you set the color for mixer tracks? I've been trying it for ages and all I can do is press Ctrl+L in a channel that has a specified color. It sends it automatically to the first empty mixer track and "colors" it.
Please.
@henrijuhani What is a decent buffer-range? I have to set mine to 100ms to not get any underruns. It seems like that's a pretty bad range to be at, and to boot I have a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty soundcard & 2 gigs of RAM. Is there somthing I should change to get better functionality?
It was uploaded 13 years ago and it's still current
dude everytime i link the mute button to the envelope controller, and i press a key on the keyboard the mute button stays on, but it doesn't switch from off and on everytime i press it?
help me please
@EliteAssassin8 thats true but i know a couple people that are like genious at it. I wanna get to that level...u produce?
@LiviutuASK2 how the fuck do you want him to know what's the problem with your plugin? It could be anything. Maybe you don't HAVE the fruity scratcher. Check in the plugin database.
Oh my god, audio buffer in 43ms!? How can you live with yourself! Nah, i'm just kidding, but take "Use Polling" off and you can decrease your buffering from 43ms to 12ms. Thumbs up!
I just used gimpshop to make a radial gradient and slapped a JPG I found on the web searching google images for "Circle of fifths".
I used it a little bit about 6 years ago, quit, picked up reason 2 years ago, then reaktor, an got back into FL Last year. I had to journey, but now I'm back home in FL.
wow man i watched a 4 part video and didnt get anything out of it 10 min each video and you did what i wanted in one video 9 min! wow subbd just bcuz of that. THANKS
hey, nice scratching demo...i really like your FL Studio background image, if you dont mind tellin me where you got it, i would like get that image
-Thanks in advance
I know this must be an awfully noobish question, but why do I need to link an envelope controller to the mute button on the scratcher? I really didn't get that part :(
The keyboard triggers the "Fruity Envelope Controller" which sends a signal to the scratcher MUTE button. (Scratcher-RightClick[MUTE]LinktoController-"Envelope Controller - ART 1)
It should be available as a channel. If not, you might be using an older version of FL or you might have to add it from the "More" menu.
Gross Beat is still bae, but this seems heck fun. Is it still on 20?
can you please tell me where i can get the scratch sample you used? or can anyone tell me where i can get good scratch sounds i can use for the scratcher?
huh? What did I say? haha, I think my friend might have said something that I didn't know about. tell me what that comment said please.
man ı couldnt open fruity envelope controller, i clicked right on mute link to controller but there isnt envelope controller, help please.
Sure!
Use an X-Y controller or something:
Map volume on scratcher A to the output of X with formula: Tension(Input,10)
Map volume on scratcher B to the output of X with formula: 1-Tension(Input,-10)
Fruity Scrather??? What is that? Is it new in version 10? because I dont thik I have it in my FL 9... Can someone tell me what is it?
Definitely great job!! You will find FL lessons in the styles of T-Minus, JahlilBeats, and a bunch more on our page..
@invectrum well i think its just the fact that theres SO much in this program, that it would take forever to understand really.
i wish i knew this back in 98' ...i mean not exactly dj premier shyt but mine as well be if u dont have a dj mixer
so when I press record it asks me if I want to record as automation, record all, and 2 other crap. Which one do I choose?
i thought it was a way you could edit the scratches to make them sound perfect...what happened to that of fl studio?
when you scratch a sample or track how can you save it? plz reply ppl
actually, the envelope was turned off and changing the mode turned it on. heh, i'm an idiot, thanks again though!
how do u get the scratch to sound like that? on mine it doesnt sound like that at all
Use Asio 4 all! ;)
for example ^^
Could I assign the scratch control to my MIDI keyboard's LFO knob?
Do you really need to point this out? We can clearly see when your comment was posted. Seriously people.
I like your circle of fifths background in FL Studios...I tried to google it, where did you get yours?
@MAHA673TFM No... it's not... anyways I have the FL 10 now... and I dont have it... where is it?
I guess I just had to go a bit back in time to find the proper scratch tutorial. Thx man!
Thank you very much for this video. I have one question, not sure if you can help, but in FL Studio 12 my envelope controller loses focus whenever I click on the Scratcher wave position. In other words, I can control mute on/off with my keyboard just fine, but as soon as I mouse-click on the wave position, envelope controller immediately loses focus and I can no longer toggle mute. Am I missing something?
I have the same problem, does anyone know a solution?
if you're using 6.4 or older its a bug. 6.5 and later have it fixed.
How do you assign the mute button the a button on the keyboard? I kinda lost you on that
Put Edison onto the mixer with your scratcher. Then, record.
