I've been traveling to Slovenia for ten years now. It's my favorite country in the world. This trip, my fourth, coincided perfectly with the peak fall colors that blanket the hills and mountains of the western half of the tiny country every October. I wish I could take you by the hand and show you the magic of Slovenia in-person, but for now I hope this video and collection of photos will show you a glimpse of just how stunning the hidden gem at the eastern end of the alps really is.

Exquisite, Slovenia is picturesque but it takes talent to capture it as you did.
One of the best scenic vlogs I have ever seen in my life. We are really grateful for your beautiful work and effort. From start to the end of the video it felt like we also went through the journey with you. Keep doing your fabulous work. Love and best wishes 🥰
thanks as always Nimesha :)
Speechless 😶 I vividly relived the whole trip with you. The essences of my country! Appreciate you for this video. Amazing 🙏🏻👏
Your video is beautiful.
I myself is in love of Slovenia.
I travel there twice a year and enjoy the beautiful nature, the serenity, the sound of water everywhere.
Nature there is breathtaking, that's why the photos are so beautiful...
My favorite months to go there are May and October. But I have just returned from another visit to Slovenia and it was beautiful... again.
Beautiful country, beautiful nature, beautiful people.
Thanks for your amazing photos.
I knew I'd love it, so I saved it to watch later and today was the day. Excellent.
Terrific video! amongst other, you've climbed Nad Šitom Glava, just above Vršič pass. As a confident connoseur of my fatherland, I would have never imagined, that a foreigner could have showed me a new place in my own country. Yet, you've made it. Thanks for a hint on Željnske jame, for which I have never heard before. Marvelous!
So happy to hear! My hope was to show the world how beautiful Slovenia is in the fall, and to show more than just Lake Bled :)
welcome back anytime. You seem to be one of the few, who can enjoy the smorgasbord of natural delights here. As for the Alpine fall foliage, here are some additional hints: Slemenova Špica (on your video, but from afar), a circular hike from Koča na planini Jezero - Koča pri triglavskih jezerih. And then, there is the whole Eastern part of Slovenia to explore, less dramatic on grand scale, but even more mignon in its off the beaten path's solitude.
@@kozorok yes, lots more to explore. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll probably be back again at some point here in the next few years to do some more mountain hiking. Hoping to stay in some of the many alpine huts and shelters.
Wow! Slovenia is beautiful and you gave us such an immersive experience. I was surprised how much of it reminds me of Scotland. But that blue canyon water..wow 😍
Your compositions are gorgeous. I’m headed to your website to see the project.
That blue water happens because most of the country is limestone, the water here is in most cases very clean in such mountain streams, to the point where you can drink it right from the stream (done it myself a couple of times), which then gives the water that blue hue. As for reminding you of Scotland, not that it has any correlation to the look of the land but originally it was inhabited by Celtic peoples, who then mixed with the later arriving Romans, Slavs and then a while later Bavarians and Austrians, giving us, the modern day Slovene people. The old name for Slovenia was Carntum or Carniola from the Celtic tribe of the Carni that lived here, and for a while the Kingdom/province of Noric. So an Alba Gu Bràth to you from Slovenia, you're always welcome :D
This is unrelentingly brilliant! Thanks for showing your art. I love Slovenia and I'm making tentative plans to return there in 2022. You've just increased my motivation to get going.
Beautiful scenery and film. Thank you very much for providing such nice and calming content. Bravo.
Loved it man! I've just moved to slovenia and will be making videos about it myself! 👌🏽
Thanks for taking us on that journey that was well-produced and a feast for the eyes and senses. The full project website is dreamy for sure!
thanks so much!
This video has aged well. Classy as always, man.
Hard to go wrong with some hiking in Slovenia
Geez man, so awesome. That drone footage at the beginning was next-level!
thanks Kevin! Really happy I brought a drone this time.
Absolutely Divine !!! Love all those hidden places. The paradise, from my point of view 👍🧡🥾
thanks! I agree. One of the most beautiful places on earth.
So nice and incridible scenic view👌🤙 My dream country😉
Man I loved this video. It gave me a lot of ideas for my next trip and, more than anything else, it's a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to seeing more of these
Thank you for sharing breathtaking yet peaceful scenes😊
Beaultiful video. Love the silence and the introspective music. Felt like I was there.
Wowsers! Another fantastic video!
I visited everywhere in Northern Spain in your previous video and loved every minute of it. Had more time so tacked on a couple of Pyrenees hikes on the French side. Thanks for keeping me inspired.
I'm definitely going to plan to sign that log on Vric Pass too!
Stay as lovely as you are!
I like it. You know how to enjoy in simple things. That moss touching made me smile.
Wow, incredible as always Brian! SO many insane frames in this video & photo essay. Those fall colors! Each video gets better and better, the filming, editing, music chooses, etc. you are killing it! This was just what I needed after a super stressful day yesterday! Thanks for sharing!
thanks Felicia! Means a lot coming from you :)
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Beautiful place 🤩🤩

Amazing video...
This is such a beautiful video dude.
A beautiful film. I thoroughly enjoyed it from end to end. Thanks for creating and sharing this!
Congratulations on this amazing video!
Awesome video, the kind of Vlogs I like to make. Amazing scenery from the forest to the mountains. Beautiful photos.
It was nice of Slovenia to let you have the whole country to yourself for a while. Beautiful shots and that crispy audio 🤌.
Nice video of my country. I am glad to live here under mountains
I really liked this video. Nicely done and well put together. Almost like a travelogue. You also captured your travels with wonderful photos. Top notch all the way around.
I'm lovin' the (Apetor's - RIP) vibes. This video really stands out in the crowded world of UA-cam travel vlogs. It's intimate, contemplative and soothing. Thank you for sharing! I've been to Slovenia only four times but I'd definitely love to visit again to check out some of the less popular spots.
wow man! some amazing video work in this one! I'm ashamed to say I only just found you today, but love your videos! keep up the great work!!!
Awesome work, Brian!
thanks Sam!
Nice video! I really enjoyed watching it, so beautiful and peaceful. Great pictures as well!

Absolutely spectacular! Watching this with a cup of coffee made for an amazing start to the day. Thanks so much Brian!
thanks Callum!
This cinematography is very high quality!
thanks :)
Another amazing film, Brian! Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@BrianLackey Hi Brian, an update: I wanted to let you know that I'm going on a weeklong solo trip to Slovenia in July, a roundtrip of the Julian Alps (walking a selection of stages of the Juliana trail), co-inspired by your film. I thought you'd like to know that your work is inspiring and has a real impact.
amazing! Have a great time and feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions/need recommendations.
Very very nice video Brian! I only found it today and watched while having a morning coffee. I am glad you had such nice conditions in Slovenia. And I think i know where you found some of the less known locations :)
Glad you enjoyed it! It was my fourth trip and I hope to be back again soon to do more hiking in the mountains. And yep! Big thanks for sharing some of these locations with the photo community :)
@@BrianLackey Would be nice to see some of your images on there ;)
Your Videos are cinematic calm and inspiring. Also I have never seen in my intire life water that´s this cyan
the entire Soča Valley is made of gatorade, I'm pretty sure.
@@BrianLackey XD
Truly a very beautiful video. The hardwork behind every shot is worth it. Also, it has a really nice calming feel to it, which is what sets your videos apart and the reason I enjoy them so much.
You did not mention the drone in gear?
thanks! Ah, good point. Totally forgot; will add it now (DJI Mini 2).
Incredible beauty both in the surroundings as well as the video production. I enjoyed the video immensely and the musical score matched the video and photos really well. Well done Brian. I assume you don't speak Slovenian so how much of a challenge was the language barrier for you?
Why barrier?. In Slovenia 70% population younger than 50 speaks English.
thanks Philip! Honesty, I find it even easier to get around Slovenia than France or Spain. Plenty of people speak more than enough English.
Brian , Baza20 in Kočevje forest was in first place secret partisans hospital during WW2. Your pictures are super. Next time you must go to seven Triglav lakes.
Or you can go with me on bicycle around our Gorenjska region.
Nice, looks like it was a fun trip. Similar to Colorado and Mammoth Lakes
such a great trip, yeah :) Definitely similar, but also way more empty. Felt like I had the place to myself for most of it.
Ok, wow (again). I looked at your project link and had to come back and watch this again. Honestly this video is amazing. From your music choices, to how much variety you showed, drone, still image, grand views, intimate spaces. Just incredible. Definitely will be watching many times again. Slovenia looks like an incredible place.
Do you mind me asking is it difficult to travel there if you only speak English? And food-wise is it vegetarian friendly? Climate wise, is it more mild? Or are there extreme temperatures at any point?
thanks so much Sarah! Really appreciate that :) It's surprisingly easy to visit, actually. Probably on-part with... Austria? I never had any trouble only speaking English and found that more people understood me than in places like Spain or France. I would guess there will be plenty of vegetarian options, but that would be worth researching a bit more beforehand since it's not something I was paying attention to. And on the climate front, I'd say it's pretty typically European? When I was there in mid- to late-October, it was typically lows in the 30s/40s(F) and highs in the 50s to 60s (if I'm remembering correctly). Didn't feel too terribly different from back here in Washington, but the summers do get warm and the it snows quite a bit in the mountains in the winter. I've been in all four seasons now and late October was by far my favorite time to go. May was also beautiful, but obviously you trade the fall colors for intense spring greens then.
@@BrianLackey I can't get enough of those autumn colors...I think its so magical. Thanks for your detailed response. Its now on my bucket list! Especially those canyons and the mountains at the end.
With English you will be fully OK. I would say that proficiency is at the level of Austria and Germany, and much better than in South Europe (Spain or Italy…). Most of the people speak at least one foreign language, it is common as well to speak 2-3 foreign languages (beside English also German, Italian, some other Slavic languages).
@@sarahinscotland Hello! If youwant somemore info, youcould watch Geography Now! Slovenia by Canadians. It is quite nice first info about Slovenia. Or try offitional site I feel Slovenia.
Fantastic Job! Where to next?
Thanks! Staying local in the PNW for a bit now, but starting to think about 2022 trips. Maybe Ireland? Scotland? Albania? We'll see...
@@BrianLackey Australia & NZ?
@@alfonsocalero Tasmania is pretty high up on my list, but it's quite the trek to get there. Definitely soon though :) Haven't been down that way since... 2005?
Nice video! What month was this? I’ve been thinking about going to Slovenia next year but it never occurred to me how beautiful it must be during the fall.
thanks! This was in late October. Definitely the best time to go, in my opinion.
What time of the year was this trip? Leaving for Slovenia next week and hope it's as beautiful as your filming and photography makes it look. You have great talent. Thanks for sharing and can't wait to get there !
Have an amazing time! This was in October, but May is my second favorite time to visit. It'll be beautifully green :)
@@BrianLackey Absolutely incredible, it was so artistically beautiful but also so peaceful and relaxing. I will be there next year in the first week of October. Hopefully there will be some colour then! Thank you again for the video!
👌👍🇸🇮
oh man, what a journey! really well done piece, Brian, and beautiful shots!
thanks so much, Conrad! Means a lot coming from you.
Woooow i didn't not know that Slovenia have such a beauty!!
And I living next to her, in Croatia. Shame on me, def!! This video helps a lot to Slovenia and slovenian tourism!!
Great job, I need to visit Slovenia soon as possible !
