Unboxing and setting up the exciting new StoveTec FireFly Lantern! To learn more or purchase, please visit StoveTecstore.net and thank you for watching.
For the weight and fuel usage, it looks like it would be more effecient to simply carry a candle lantern like a UCO and a twig stove separately to accomplish the same function.
The beauty of this stove is that pellets are super cheap and convenient, they give you a solid hour of burn time without touching it, smokeless until the end when the pellets are burned up, and boils 2 cups of water in 6 minutes. OK for a day hike or car camping. Not something for backpacking. Lantern function although it gives light, its not much. You can sit next to it and warm your hands which I do often on those cold evenings. Pellets are the only way to go. Tried pine cones and small splits of red oak...they burn but not well and mostly you just get smoke. Pellets
This is not my Video and I did enjoy it Just a word of caution DO NOT TRY TO DRINK A VERY HOT ITEM FROM THE METAL COFFEE CUP It will cook your mouth and tongue THE METAL gets extremely hot not like a regular coffee cup We had boiled coffee and gaveit a thought and then said hey this what you see in al the old movies. The differenceis they only had coffee that was luke warm not boiling hot It took weeks before I could eat and drink without a straw
We made the lantern/stove as a cool new thing to make celebratory tea or coffee while reading a book/playing cards. You can learn how to use wood for fuel but better to start with pellets. A lot easier to make almost no smoke with pellets.
+Jim H The reviews I've seen (other than this instructional video) use biomass other than wood pellets and show the lantern in a very unflattering light. However, they are using the Firefly as a rocket stove rather than a wood gas stove. Also, they have not allowed the stove to preheat, a necessity with this type of stove. I wonder how it would work with a Swedish fire torch.
Hiram Cook gave it a very good test run using the recommended fuel and instructions. lasted 30 min at best, and you cannot add fuel to keep it going. you have to clean it out and start over. I will admit, it looks cool, just not very practical.
"I really don't think the FireFly can be used as a regular wood stove. Also one thing I noticed is that I don't think it can be refueled during the burn. I have the feeling you have to let the fuel load burn completely out, then empty the fuel chamber, and start it up again." Hiram Cook.......I amended my previous comment. Seems it should last more then an hour as a lantern though .I think the concept of a lantern that u can cook on is pretty cool, but functionality wise, I'm going to have to agree with the masses on this one ... Even with the "optimally" burning wood chips I have to think of a normal night camping ... Say it's fall and I'm planning on using the lantern from 6-10 pm ... That means I need some type of starter plus 8 cups of wood pellets to last me the night ... And I would have to start it 4 times... Doesn't seem practical to me.
No mention of burn time. I would not want to be in a cabin or RV with the fumes and smoke coming off of that thing. And drink water without knowing if it was unpolluted? Not lately. At least it would have to be boiled, and looks like it was just barely heated. OK for washing dishes, but no way for drinking. Another answer to a question that was not asked. Waste of money.
Why the hell would you lite this in a cabin or an RV? Would you build a fire inside your house in a garbage can outside of the fireplace and leave the windows and doors closed? You should try it. The world is overpopulated with stupid. It burns for just under an hour with 2 cups of pellets. Why wouldn't you leave water on it until it comes to a rolling boil for 5 min? If you need to boil it longer because you're boiling a gallon, add more fuel. It's not a great product but it'll work. You just need a fully functional brain and common sense. Your comment was from 3 years ago so I may be too late. You may have already won the Darwin Award and you and your progeny are already dead by your hands, in which case, R.I.P. and my condolences to your family and friends.

Love the look and how it packs away.
It's the first attempt I've seen to use woodgas for a light. I have thought of using an Aladdin mantle to produce the light
Have you thought about making a design with side feed to make refueling much easier?
Pretty clever stove.
Brand of coffee pot? Is it steel or aluminum?
Why did you remove the lens while dissasembling it? Looks like it ended the same place anyway
To remove the shipping protective plastic.
long time ago xD, but i think im talking about 3:14@@akbychoice
WHERE CAN WE BUY IT? &WHERE FROM THE PELLETS?
Where are these made?
Does the FireFly come with a coffee pot or tea pot? If not which one did you buy?
We all want to know the name of the coffee pot or kettle.
This is not my Video and I did enjoy it
Just a word of caution
DO NOT TRY TO DRINK A VERY HOT ITEM FROM THE METAL COFFEE CUP
It will cook your mouth and tongue THE METAL gets extremely hot not like
a regular coffee cup

It took weeks before I could eat and drink without a straw
You are the reason why warning labels have to be put on everything
Would any biomass work?
good product...but on the go and in an emergency, you might not have any wood pellets...
in this case you can probably also use pine cones and twigs
This is a funny looking stove...
Does it work with wood ?!? =)
Bravi da italy from italy good fire
Sorry, the background music did me in.
100% useless gimmick but looks nice, coming from a person that cooked outside more than 60 days per year.
Nice product. Did NOT like the music. Sounds like you were in a sound booth for the voice.
Nice covffee pot ☺
This is a must have item for me but I am in Scotland and not able to find a supplier. Can anyone help?
If you like, i will send you a video showing how tu built your own stove.
would also like name of coffee pot --
Heidi Young hello I like u Ur beautiful
@@daulatsinghrathore5423 haha, what kind of desperate is that
It's a 9 cup coffee pot you find in camping departments of stores. Pretty much a generic camping coffee pot, but specifically a 9 cup model.
I thought this was a lantern not a cooker. Neat but not what i was looking for.
Seems to be too many parts. Nice setup, but looking for simplicity.
The music is more for burning incense .......
or enjoying you herb of choice...
It's not a lantern, it's a stove, all over.

Please watch some reviews of this thing. Lets just say its a dud.

+Jim H Burn Test #1 - Wood Pellets Used about 2 cups - lasted about an hour. "I'm impressed!" "I like it." Hiram Cook
