I used to travel hundreds of miles every year to the Washington, DC United States National Sakura Matsuri to see the Yoshino Sakura trees gifted by Dr. Takamine and Japan. For yet another year, I am sadly unable to go see these trees, some of which are over 100 years old due to the care they have been given.
Thank you for sharing this with me. It is a very precious gift. I hope to see these trees myself in person, some day.
I was there last week, traveled halfway across America for it. The Sakura had bloomed but were still not quite pink yet and the weather was inclement. Still beautiful nonetheless and so many people from all over the world, the most Japanese people I've seen in one place here in the US too! Hopefully next year I can spend the spring in Japan.
@@nikorasu_karasu The Matsuri itself? The Matsuri is supposed to be this next weekend. There's festivities all month but the street festival in particular is one weekend. I also load up on lantern walks that the Rangers do whenever I go there. I even wound up becoming part of the tour once!
