I've had the same experience with my new KS18XL. I've been riding EUCs for 4.5 years and with my experience combined with this bad boy, people just go crazy when they see me gliding effortlessly. This thing has turned me into a superhero. I think I have to join the Avengers.
@@mpgallogly I'd say definitely man. Been riding for about 6 months now and am more confident than ever on that wheel, it's so well balanced you can get on it backwards or forwards and ride, excellent at the skate park and I have yet to run into any issues whatsoever & have also not been able to get the battery under 50% in one go, so yes I'd say you should bite!
Ah. The long awaited, very welcome, definitive King Song 18XL review! You have done the wheel justice. I too wished King Song set the top speed a little higher but I can live with the 31mph restriction as long as no one on an MSX pulls up besides me, lol. The value on the 18XL is phenomenal when compared to other alternatives such as electric skateboards, scooters, OW+XR, and my answer to "if you were to have only one personal electric vehicle, what would it be?" Of course, once you buy an EUC, you can't stop at just one, you just can't :)
I agree completely, the value for this thing should be amazing. I have a $4k ebike that barely gets 25 miles of range on a full charge despite advertising 40 plus miles... so I am excited for a PEV that lives up to its advertised range!
Chooch! Finally pulled the trigger and JUST bought the 18xl through your link! I want to make sure you get your cut, you're the ultimate salesman for a wheel. I've probably watched this review like 10 times. Thanks man!
Great review Chooch. I bought the KS16S on your recommendation and you were spot on...fantastic wheel so I will also go with this KS18XL as my next one! Thanks bud
Mike S I would go with the Gotway MSX. It’s faster and has better breaking power. It’s still a great EUC and better in some aspects but the top speed and stability of the MSX can’t be overlooked.
From what it appears after watching his videos, I believe he likes the MSX a lot more due to the faster acceleration/speed. He likes the handle/light and other things about the 18XL, and I think he wasn't a fan of riding the MSX offroad compared to some other wheels due to the tire.
Awesome review chooch! Lot of people have been asking for your review of this one, once again you leave no stone unturned! Pretty sure you sold me on any of the wheels you covered, but I'll probably end up getting this one based on my riding style. I'll make sure to go through your link when I do!
Great review Chooch. Mine finally made it to port and will be heading my way next week. Jason has been great with it. I can't wait to be able to go all over town without worrying about charging or kickback. Thanks again for the update.
Really great review.. I myself have been riding about 4500 km om my V5f+, and am planning on getting a new wheel very soon.. Originally I had Z10 in mind, but I think I will go with the KS-XL.. I have a question, I want to be able to lock my wheel, so I can leave it unattended for shorter periods of time.. It doesn't seem to be something that anyone is focusing on, but for me its pretty essential.. I have two different locks in mind, something like Masterlock Street Cuffs, or some kind of U-lock.. What are your thoughts on the two, could they work on the KS-XL and where would you attach it, and what is your thoughts on the lack of focus on the issue.. After all It is a GREAT, but also pricy wheel... Thanks, Best wishes Jonas, Denmark
You can fit most locks through the spokes of the wheel just under the foot plates. You'll also want to use the lock feature in the Kingsong app which disables the wheel completely. This stops someone from coming along and pressing the on switch and having the wheel try to digest the lock.
Chooch I am kinda concerned about the msx cutting off on a 200 lbs guy if you go over 31 miles per hour. At the end of the day, if you are gonna ride the msx at the same speeds (31 miles per hour) as you would ride the 18xl then the latter is much preferable even in traffic isn’t it?
I upgraded to this wheel from a Ninebot S1. The 18XL is an awesome wheel. I have a question about riding fast on this wheel. I can't seem to get past 18 mph before it starts to wobble on me. I'm very sure it's my legs...and how to position them...should I keep them straight...squeeze the wheel, etc? Because I'm so used to riding around 13mph on my S1 with my legs so relaxed with my knees bent. With the 18XL, I'm trying to do different things. I ride in Baltimore City and I mostly like to carve so my knees are always slightly bent and not hugging the wheel. How do you stand on the wheel to get to top cruising speed?
@@mig6220 After riding the 18XL for about a year now, I figured it out. When you're going high speed, any slight adjustment or movement you make will make it wobble...just like if you were riding a bike downhill at high speed. If you move that handlebar, the same will happen. So when I'm cranking 25+mph, I make sure I clench the wheel with my legs. Yeah man, I still ride around! I love it. I've seen about 3 or so riders in Bmore.
Good honest review as always. Keep up the good work. Love my 18L. Not so much range, but good enough for me. One thing. You can plug in a USB stick full of songs and it will play them.
Living in Florida I would need a EUC that works in rain. LOTS OF RAIN (in summer)! How was it riding in rain and do you feel electronics are properly protected? Thanks, great review.
hi ! great vid ! I´ve a ks 18xl and have the original charger 1,5 amp, can I charge at the same time with my 1,5 amp charger and a 2,5 amp charger? or is it dangerous.? I know that my wheel can charge at 5 amp but I don't know if can be different chargers. Thanks bro!
Hey chooch. I'm totally a beginner in this euc scene and in dilemma. Im thinking to get between ks16s or ks18l and the price is different by 100bucks. I may not be buying another euc for a while long time so I wanna make the best of out of my purchase. Do u think the learning curve is going to be steep for beginner like me?
Great video Chooch, many thanks for uploading it. I'm a fairly new rider I've just sold my first wheel (V5F) that I've had about 4mths and looking to buy the 18XL in the next few weeks :-)
Hi Chooch ! Thank for your great videos ! I need your help please. I currently have a KS16S 840wh that I really like, and I'm thinking about changing the wheel to have more range and comfort, because sometimes I'd like to ride for longer, I can ride between 30 and 100km, but I can also use it for short rides on holidays on much shorter distances, I would also like a wheel that can easily run at the speed of a walker. Sometimes I can ride on roads with a bit of gravel. I have read on a few places that the KS16X is less well protected against dust and water... I'm looking for a versatile wheel as I only want one. I would like to stay with KingSong because I like this brand and I trust it. I am hesitating between the KS16X and the KS18XL. I weigh 57kg. I would have liked a wheel that is easy to ride for someone of my weight. Which one do you think would be best for me?
Thorough review Chooch. I picked up the L and the range is impressive also. Did a group ride last weekend 30 miles seemed like we rode pretty fast and was at 35% when finished. I weigh 210 lb so probably at 220 with gear. Was getting some tilt back for the last mile or so, but I’m worn out after 30 miles. I can’t see me buying another brand of wheel. Put 1200 miles on the 16s and it is awesome too. There is supposed to be a ks16x coming out.
Lake DualSport I’m the same weight as you and I’m still riding a older Ninebot but really want to upgrade and based on Chooch’s earlier review of the Kingsong 16S felt that is the next upgrade for me. Based on your experience on the 16S, this review of the 18XL, and the possibility of a 16X coming out can you give me your input on which direction to go? Thank you.
Monpano64 I bought the 16s because Chooch recommended it. It’s a great wheel, I never thought I would want another wheel until I rode a 18l. I had a ninebot 1e+ and quickly learned that it didn’t have the range I wanted. The 16s had better range, but I find riding a 18” is more comfortable. I get less foot cramps and am just more relaxed on it. They both have their specialties. The 16 was lighter, easier to maneuver, it would be better for working around a lot of pedestrians and getting on and off of buses or trains. I live in the suburbs and have a 70 mile paved bike trail right outside my neighborhood so the 18 works better for my situation.
If I lived in a bustling city i would have kept both wheels. I had a chance to try the msuper and the z10. Both cool wheels but I likes the 18l better when I tried it. And I knew kingsong made a very good wheel. It sure about the 16x, but with 1554wh battery it would not be as portable because of the extra weight, maybe 1036 who battery would work good. Hope this helps some.
I think both are good options, The 16x will be a great wheel but 18 inch wheels are so smooth and no worries about potholes or bad roads. if you have never had an 18inch plus wheel i think you will love the 18xl
I think i can answer to you because i have both models. In the first seconds 10f have more speed because the contact with the ground is only with that thin line. But after that seconds the power of xl will take distance. The tire of v10f is much more sticky with the same pressure. And agile. The light is stronger on xl but i dont care because i always use a head lamp. For shock impact and offroad stability xl is superior, 10f its more fragile. Something weird, on 10f surface the dust cant stay but must clean every day xl. The troller of xl is best ever to take the toy eveywhere. But 10f stick its also very nice. I prefer 10f, even if looks more quiet and not so famous, its start faster, and lighter, more agile. And Inmotion app is wayyy more practical. KS app have 1 star on Play Store. With 3 phones and still cant start the app.. Chose xl if you want too much speed and too much range, the battery of 10f is awesome also.
