- One of the towns worth seeing in the Harz Mountains is the town of Wernigerode. In the old town there are many colorful half-timbered houses and there are romantic streets with ancient houses. The walls of Wernigerode Castle rise above the city. During a city tour you will discover the supposedly "smallest house in the world" and the strange-looking "crooked house".

I have been there. We first went there in 1990 when Germany was in the process of joining together. We rode on the little railways, bought videos , and took them back to England WE were worried that someone at Wernigerode had told us the little railways were going to close. We gave a set of the videos to the Bluebell Railway Society in England. Result-- An article was printed in a Railway Magazine , and a trip was organized to the Harz Railways.The trip was heavily oversubscribed I think this trip helped the Local community in the Harz to realise the potential of the railways as a Hobby Bahn , and a tourist destination. We have been back twice with our Campervan , and are thrilled to see how popular the little Railways are , and WErnigerode is lovely -- All the better for the new Ring Road !

Da war ich auch zu Pfingsten während meiner Harztour mit dem Wohnmobil. War nicht das erste Mal dort. Es ist immer wieder schön dort.

Wenn sie in Wernigerode sind essen sie mal in dem Restaurant "Gasthaus zum Eselskrug"! Eine sehr schönes Gasthaus sehr Rustikal und einfach eine 1+ was das Essen angeht👍😄

eine wunderschöne Stadt, hatte mich echt in sie verliebt.....nur mein Partner aus Wernigerode hatte nix besseres vor, als seine Stadt noch anderen Mädels schmackhaft zu machen....sehr schade...!
