Why do you keep referring to the freeways with 'the', like 'the' 80. we don't say that here in the Bay Area, we just say 80. It's very noticeable.

What about crime rates, I’m from small town in Virginia called Blacksburg and will go to UCB for PhD program. I’m kinda terrified by the crime rates showed up online around Berkeley. Is it really that bad?
UCB is near Oakland so you see interesting people around sometimes. Just stay off your phone and be aware of your surroundings as you should in any urban area. Then you should be fine.
Yes, it is that bad. It's even worse. You would be making a huge mistake to move to Albany, to Berkeley, or anywhere around here. All of the crime is covered up to maintain the mythology about the area and people's real estate values. I am here and pray to God every night to find a way out of here. Widespread crime everywhere, in broad daylight: shoplifting, robberies of moms on the street walking their kids, drive by shootings on the freeways. It's a preview of hell. And filth, tent cities, and consequently an angry and mistrustful populace.
Very nice and putting up tents is illegal.
I live in Albany, CA. Stay away. Tons of crime, horrible, some violent, but all minimized and covered up to maintain the mythology about Albany, Berkeley, CA. People started a fire at the Albany Target in the morning when people were in the story in order to create distract from their robbing the building. This event closed the Target for weeks. Yet, nothing in the daily paper. Someone drove a car into the CVS in Albany to rob the place. Someone drove a car into my office building in Albany a few days ago to rob the buildlng. Nothing in the papers. A bunch of teens were robbed at gunpoint in the local park and almost killed. Nothing in the paper. Widespread robbery on Pierce St and around Solano Avenue. It's a filthy, unsafe, and ridiculously expensive place to live. Move somewhere nice and raise your children the proper way, not in filth and depravity.

Oh Please~! You weren't there if a robbery took place. You're spreading rumors at best. Nothing on the paper because only people of your age will bother with physical newspapers. Unless you're a witness, you're over-generalizing for your one incident.
I lived in albany my whole life and I can confirm that crime is very low I’ve never seen a crime take place in albany except for the incident at Toyota recently.
