Not exactly lip syncing. Artists especially GaGa play pre-recorded vocals on their live performances that's used as backing vocals then still sing along with it, which is live singing. They do it so their track and the vocals sounds fuller.

I slightly disagree, although I know what you mean. Here's two thoughts I had about lip syncing: 1. If the performance is something that's going to be broadcast on TV and/or is at a specific high-profile venue, it is important that the performance be flawless to preserve a certain image for the artist and/or the people in charge of the event. Examples: Fashion show performances, fancy weddings, superbowl half-times, etc. When I think about it that way, it doesn't seem so unreasonable for an artist (or event director, etc) to ensure prevention of possibly singing poorly due to a cold, bad pitch, or other unattractive audio mishaps. On top of that, some artists seem to recognize that they aren't very good at singing live (it's actually way harder than singing in a small room or studio!) and work around this at huge concerts using lip sync. 2. Sometimes the artist is just doing so much dancing/moving around that they can't sing as well as they would holding still. We see that all the time with Britney Spears and other artists. I appreciate them not gasping into the microphone after a bunch of exercise ;) That's my thoughts anyway. I could be wrong.

I don't know why they won't just announce that they're sick and rely the help of lip syncing but still try, they might think it's unethical but I think fans are fans for a reason and they're not that easy to lose exchange for risking that artist's health
I slightly disagree, although I know what you mean. Here's two thoughts I had about lip syncing:
1. If the performance is something that's going to be broadcast on TV and/or is at a specific high-profile venue, it is important that the performance be flawless to preserve a certain image for the artist and/or the people in charge of the event.
Examples: Fashion show performances, fancy weddings, superbowl half-times, etc. When I think about it that way, it doesn't seem so unreasonable for an artist (or event director, etc) to ensure prevention of possibly singing poorly due to a cold, bad pitch, or other unattractive audio mishaps. On top of that, some artists seem to recognize that they aren't very good at singing live (it's actually way harder than singing in a small room or studio!) and work around this at huge concerts using lip sync.
2. Sometimes the artist is just doing so much dancing/moving around that they can't sing as well as they would holding still. We see that all the time with Britney Spears and other artists. I appreciate them not gasping into the microphone after a bunch of exercise ;)
That's my thoughts anyway. I could be wrong.
