That dash attack is just insane. I love how they put Roxas' move from KHII though. His ground reassembles his normal combo, the aerial attack is his 'counterattack' in his fight, and his block counter here is that wide circular slash he did in the start of his fight. Kinda wish Roxas has a 'drive' here, allowing him to summon those light lasers and a shotlock that makes him use his DM in KHII
I found that you can almost consistently get full combos on Saix by using Reversal right after Reprisals. The Reversal attack keeps Saix in the air for longer.
Looking at these bosses makes me consider how Roxas seems like he was made to fight Xemnas, and made to be less effective against Saix. Roxas can block every single one of Xemnas's attacks, and has the easiest punish out of basically everybody when Xemnas uses those exploding light balls. His combo's work well until you hit revenge value, and it's really easy to dash out of Xemnas's range because Roxas is so fast. Meanwhile, Roxas has good counters against Saix, but the fact that Saix doesn't get juggled prevents Roxas from getting combos and combo finishers on him. Reversal being made for Xemnas also makes sense when you consider that Reversal is the move used against Xemnas and the Dusk nobodies, but is less effective against Saix because his AOE is so big.
@@PixelHeroViish nah, it’s probably just that you didn’t figure out his gimmick yet. With saix, the only way to get an opening on him or at least make him give you a few shots on him both in this fight and his data fight. You have to hit him with a reprisal/risk dodge while he’s in the middle of a certain animation, and when he’s circling the arena, your supposed to get over to him, immediately block, then counter. After that, he becomes vulnerable for a few extra hits. Some of the bosses in the data fights and even the secret one has moves where they can only be forced to be opened while hit by a reprisal/risk dodge, or a payback strike. It’s just that saix mostly consists of openings that only get exploited after getting hit by one.
The GOAT’s turn to fight I see 👀 I really hope they keep using Roxas as a playable character after seeing how they made him play in ReMind, he could be so fun and unique
the "thinking of you" cooperation is by far the best cooperation command in the entire franchise, it's also way better than every reaction command from kh2. (also the name "thinking of you" turns me instantly nostalgic because it reminds me of the name of the OST in 358/2 days "at dusk, I will think of you" when Roxas, Xion and Axel eat ice cream in top of the tower)
Nah, man. Nothing beats KH2's final boss sequence against Xemnas after entering the KH door. It was such a badass boss sequence with reaction commands taken straight out from the pages of FF7 Advent Children's Cloud vs Sephy. Nothing in KH3 stood a candle to that epic clash straight till the defeat of Xemnas with Sora and Riku. Its also a more epic moment than any scene from KH3's final boss sequences. With "thinking of you," the command lasted a lot longer than was necessary if the player waits till the bar runs out, making the sequence look awkward.
@@LVL5esper BeatofDistance I knew someone was about to say that XD I won't change my mind, this fight from kh2 represents a problem that I have with this particular game, there's nothing epic with reaction commands because you don't actually play, you didn't do anything at all to deserve this, they were too lazy to do something actually epic with gameplay so they just made cheap QTEs "press triangle and the game makes you believe you play while you watch a cutscene". Besides, most of the reaction commands don't make any sense with what you can do usually, why the heck the only time when you're strong enough to smash buildings is when you just press triangle and watch the game play itself? Thinking of you is wayyyyyy better than any kh2 command reaction. No hesitation. (Even though I did enjoy reaction commands in the fight against Roxas, but it's in final mix, when they actually thought about how actually making a reaction command epic, these are random, depend on your reaction time and give you Roxas's keyblades to fight in an epic way by yourself. Too bad, it's in final mix, because they've cut Roxas's fight from the original game which was really dumb)
mitsuni taïko to each their own, i respect your opinion. Not trying to win a choice of opinions. Though I will say, both are pretty much cutscenes either way you slice it. We are also basically just watching the trio do "thinking of you" while pressing a single button and it only allows us 1 chance to do it, its not necessarily a skill in the player's list of arsenal. It still pretty much is a reaction qte command. Putting it that way, I'd say Limit commands and summons are closer to what you are describing as cool animations that damage output still depends on the player successfully chasing and landing hits on the enemy besides Sora's own KH2 Limit command when by himself because it automatically successfully hits the enemies. QTE exists solely for the purpose of gameplay limitations in these types of games imo. Sometimes when an artist wants to have a certain scenario play out in a certain fashion, it just isnt possible without animations that doesnt already exist as a regular skill set available to the player. Like how there is no way to implement Sora and Riku deflecting Xemnas's laser shots they way they did along with the use of those camera angles in order to create that epic moment. So throw in a qte to get that epic moment in. Notice how running up on building walls is a thing in KH3 but in KH2 it was only limited to qte's? They can now program the player to do it but it's also less epic of a moment too now because there wasnt any moment in kh3 with 2 warriors clashing on the side of a tall building, instead random heartless are just popping up for slaughter. I do strongly agree that KH2's qte for the most part are all too easy to perform with just a single button and allows button mashing without consequences besides Roxas's version. Its comparable to the attraction commands of an easy way out if the player hasnt gotten used to the gameplay yet.
This is honestly one of my favorite non-superbosses in the game now and it's all because of his teleporting attack. That single attack might be the best combo modifier in the entire series. Its super fast, you have infinite range, total invincibility and best of all, you can cancel it with guard before your i-frames run out. You can basically run away and the moment Saix starts running around creating shockwaves, you can teleport in, guard cancel, block the claymore and then reprisal all within the span of a second.
Roxas in this fight always makes me wonder how sora managed to beat him in KH2. He practically overpowers both xemnas and saix whereas sora has to put in more effort for both of them. I share your sentiments on wishing he had a better boss fight though. I don't really care too much for everybody else but roxas legitimately feels like a fun alternative to sora and its a shame you only get him for this one fight.
The way Sora won against him in KH2 was stupid. As a keyblade wielder, Roxas should've known, the wielder would be able to summon back the keyblade in any situation. It was an awkward victory unless the player assumes, Roxas was just testing Sora and allowed Sora to have the victory. Roxas basically waited till Sora reached out his hand and summoned the keyblade back to him and dealt the winning blow.
@@LVL5esper It wasn't stupid, Roxas does know that a Keyblade Wielder can summon their Keyblade whenever they want, he and Xion did it plenty of times, Roxas just didn't believe Sora was actually worthy of the Keyblade, so when Sora did summon it, Roxas did just give up, as he knew that Sora would take care of everything.
