How a Ruger No. 1 works

The Ruger No. 1 is a single-shot rifle, with Farquharson-style internal hammer falling block action, manufactured by Sturm, Ruger. It was introduced in 1967. An underlever lowers the block allowing loading and cocks the rifle. Lenard Brownell, commenting on his work at Ruger, said of the No. 1: "There was never any question about the strength of the action. I remember, in testing it, how much trouble I had trying to tear it up. In fact, I never did manage to blow one apart."

The greatest thing about this design is that you can scale it up to artillery sized projectiles, due to how strong the action is

A design that dates back to the 1860s.
You can make it as strong as you'd ever need with basically no changes to the design and quality steel, but it still worked fine for black powder cartridges when made of Brass, not even bronze (gunmetal) but plain brass.

Why on earth would you cycle it twice?I own several they only need cycled one time per.shot,open it up it ejects spent cartridge put in onouther round and close the action thats all there is to it!!

This video is all wrong you only need open it once every shot !you open it to eject fired cartridge then ijsert a new round and close the action ,its ready to go so why show it as if you need to cycle it 2 times???stupid video!

Nah what's stupid is you being so slow you can't understand the video shows the complete cycle of operations in a loop
You don't leave your damn rifle open when your done.. you close it.. then to load it an fire , you open the action and load it .
