Ulefone as a brand isn't actually too horrible, they make devices that are generally atleast one step above Welcome ones, I remember using an Ulefone Metal in 2016-2018 and it wasn't actually a terrible experience, especially for a cheap offbrand phone.
I had a Ulefone Note 7 which died from a small teardown outta no where (my friend wanted to see the insides) and honestly I did smash it after a while and the build quality just seemed cheap, so honestly some of their more budget basically are branded welcome phones (I’m fairly certain it had a fake camera lmfao)
@@Plainapple287 Their cheaper devices aren't probably too far off from Welcome devices but their higher end devices are actually.. somewhat decent? They aren't anything to write about but they're actually somewhat decent, even their more expensive phones have somewhat cheap build quality, but since they're still budget phones I'd say it's excusable, and their highest end phones actually have decent build quality iirc.
@@Danse_Macabre_125 I mean the lower end phones are generally one step above Welcome phones in quality, but their higher end phones generally have decent, dare I say almost good build quality
I actually use one of the heavy duty ulefone devices as my daily driver. Im actually rather impressed at how decent their stuff has proven to be. The UI isn't as polished and nice as my previous LG, but they seem pretty easy to root and customize.
Actually, I would love this kind of design even today. Just love that button on the front bottom. The symmetrical bezels on the top just look pretty nice.
That secondary rear camera is used as a 'depth' camera when running the Bokeh effect algorithm. Its there to help the algorithm know what should be in the foreground and what should be in the background (so it doesn't blur the foreground objects).
Very budgety. 28nm SoC in 2017, when the comparable Doogee was already using the newest 16nm tech. This is going to be VERY thermally constrained for gaming, and not very economical on the battery in most other uses, but otherwise, for a really cheap device, nice enough. 39:22 the third camera is seen there. Look at the "Hardware" list up top, imx258 (honestly nice, a 13MP SONY sensor with AF drive capability), imx219 (an 8MP SONY sensor, not bad), and finally the gc0310 little shit sensor in YUV mode. It shouldn't take too long to chip select it and read it out, so it might even be used if you're lucky, but not exposed as an Android software camera. Ideally you should see something other than a soft circle around the perimeter of the picture if there is any really strong perspective with easily recognisable edges or really far away background which needs to be super stationary, but most of the time, the software is going to have a REALLY hard time figuring it out what's the foreground and what isn't, because the assist camera is terrible and the era of the device. The background to foreground distance ratio needs to be fairly high for it to even try to work, as you have less than a couple centimetres of parallax, and if they messed up something, it might just give up on using the depth cue every time, but it would certainly try every time. The "Do not store when battery is out of power or full power" note is correct, you're supposed to store batteries at approximately 60% charge state. If you store it at 100% charge, you may find that the real capacity of the battery is permanently decreased substantially after a year of storage, and storing it at 0 can cause it to fail on next charge outright. So half-empty is very near to perfect. You can even maintain the 60% charge state long term actively and find that the battery has only degraded by less than 5% in 10 years. The battery doesn't look dodgy yet, the little ripple on the pouch is from the flex cables that were attached to it, no need to worry about it becoming a spicy pillow yet. The metal midframe gives me a pretty flimsy impression, but at least it's there.
Ohh, I had Leagoo Kiicaa Mix.. Gave it to my granny about a year ago. Descent device for communication and media consumption. Handles some small games. Had to replace battery for a new one, but overall experience was nice. Matte back cover is definitely aged better.
Good to see another Ulefone review. I personally got my first Ulefone last year, the Armor 10 5G. Overall generally like it, my main issue is when I bought the device they said it was going be updated via OTA to Android 11 (out of the box is 10) and there's no custom roms/LineageOS port as of now. There's also another official firmware update but will not push through OTA and only can do it via the ROM flash tool which I don't want to do. Otherwise has been a great rugged phone for the last year going on two. Will consider another device from them in the future.
That display colour calibration is considered luxurious for ANY TFT LCD... That's a very promising phone. I'd be zoopah *happy* with that display calibration.
Great video! I won another rip off, the Bluboo S1. The company made a contest in the launch event and I won. The company took 2 months to send my prize and, when I received, I noticed they sent a engineer unit (one of the pre-production unit used to test hardware and software problems). It last 3 months before the charging port dies. I never got an answer from them to try to repair. The worst experience I had.
Hey SMOOREZ, today's my birthday mate. Glad to say I've been a part of the #SMOOREZSquad for quite some time. And glad to see you released this on my cake day... wonderful. Thanks so much! 💯

The OG Xiaomi Mix did not only introduce tri-bezel-less design but it was also the 1st smartphone in 2016 with the odd (kinda ultra-wide but not really) screen aspect ratio of 17:9 compared to the usual 16:9 on other smartphones. Doogee & Ulefone tried to replicate those designs next year but failed miserably.

The Mi Mix3 was a great phone. Mine got 1 signicant update but the low bezel design eas not up to glass technology of the time. The screen was way too sensitive. Interesting to see a clone of the early mix
At those times Xiaomi were really stingy with updates. You got very little. they kicked it a notch after 2018. My Mi Max 2 from 2017 didn't get a single Android update from Xiaomi. Just security updates and MIUI updates along with of course system app updates that it still gets. My Mi Max 3 bought a year later though went from Android 7 to Android 10. smoorez is doing a cashies video!!! i wish we had a cashies in the usa but the closest we have to cashies is a thrift store called goodwill and it sucks or a pawn shop called super pawn and it sucks as well....
i have a ulefone s7 and the screen was almost impossible to destroy because my grandma put it in top of the bed and when she tried to remove the blanket from the bed to remove the dust she got to a high place and the phone was in the blanket and it fell of and it sounded like a bomb exploded but the screen didn't even have a single scratch but 9 pixels from the lcd broke but they were at the top and you couldn't really see them

Yes, mostly Welcome phones with fake specs and hilarously edited 'bezelless' phone design. The real thing is a 2018 style phone with big notch and thick bezels. I actually like reading the user reviews for these phones bcos some are so obviously fake. Some real buyers did fell for the fake specs though, but I am not sure what were they expecting from a
they could have put a little more effort in this one, the design is cool (not original but still) and the display is really neat! but it looks underpowered and the camera was "good". during those years my favorite design of all time was the asus zenfone 3 deluxe, a frikin amazing phone (to me even now). anyway this could have been a good choice for an old person.
I had an Aquos Crystal and it was fucking awful. It was my first smartphone, and I was so excited for it and it managed to turn out to be the worst phone I've ever used. Wasn't rootable for the entirety of my owning it, eventually upgrading to a Samsung S6. Every time I see someone mention it I still kind of recoil at the thought of using it somewhat. Its the only phone until my current, a Pixel 6, thats managed to give me an eye injury by dropping it on my face.
This was not exactly a budget phone in 2017. For comparison, iPhone 8 was released that same year, and it had 2GB RAM with storage staring with 64 GB. This is more of mid-range segment phone from 2017, with some compromises on camera and processor, but overall decent and is still usable today.
Hello from Manchester You're talking about toasted devices. I have the Samsung S20 NOTE ultra 5G. In hotel weather like this weekend, I had to have the car windscreen cold blower blowing in the windscreen otherwise driving with maps on and online radio it'll be turned off as the device overheats. Generally my device overheating and it was a 1000£ when new. I will NEVER buy a Samsung again. I'll stick to my lovely PIXELS
I had only ONE UleFone in my life and it was HORRIBLE, it was in 2012 I think and kept on freezing when I received a call and keep on freezing in general. They tend to make 1 phone, 1 update and that's all, if that doesn't work, you are f*cked. I remember everyone was complaining about it and they kept on saying that an update is coming and then, they closed the page and made another phone, rinse and repeat...
For 2017 the camera is very bad 👎 I remember my old phone from 2017 it called huawei mate 10 lite The camera was wonderful a piece of art It's very good comparable to what we have now in 2022 But u think this phone camera look bad because it's not a big name like Samsung or huawei they don't have that experience in camera software optimization
I explain in the first few minutes that Sharp was the first with the design, then Xiaomi made their one in 2016, Doogee was next in August 2017 and finally uleFone in September 2017.
I had the doogee one , it was horrible, barely kicking for a day, also i knew the leagoo mix, same horrible, not recommed it, other than an expensive throw toy.
Sony phones of 2015-16 have symmetrical top and bottom bezels but they were thick. I used Xperia XZ for a while and kept thinking Sony could have squeeze in a bigger screen by making the bezels thinner
@@manwell235 Yeah I used the compacts back in the days and luckily now they've got it right: Slim bezels with all benefits like front facing speakers, lots of screen
Yeah, i used it to watch videos on my phones before smartphones. You could actually transform a video to 3gp and even watch whole movies in old dump cell phones. I used to watch videos and hear mp3 with my old Sony K800. Had probably the best camera too for the time so it was great.

As soon as he said uninterrupted my phone interrupts UA-cam by buffering
Nearly 0mm bezels lmfo definitely looks more like 2mm minimum, possibly 5mm.
This was not exactly a budget phone in 2017. For comparison, iPhone 8 was released that same year, and it had 2GB RAM with storage staring with 64 GB. This is more of mid-range segment phone from 2017, with some compromises on camera and processor, but overall decent and is still usable today.
Is about the price.
@@SIPEROTH Doubt it was that cheap in 2017. RAM costs, storage costs, cameras cost .
Second camera is for bokeh/portrait effect.
Thats Android 12 calculator og camed with
nougat 7 calculator
I have a ulephone power armor 13 absolute unit of a phone with 13000 mah battery
PLEASEEE install a custom rom on your xiaomi mix and install a gcam, i'm suuuree you'll just love iiiittt...
This phone doesnt have any custom roms, only stock firmware and TWRP
Oh dang. Well least we can appreciate it for what it is I guess.
EIS is super wobbly, all HDR does is a horrible brightness boost for the entire frame.
My Device
Wiko Kenny
Android 7.0 Nougat
I find the plastic back a bit disappointing
Hello from Manchester
You're talking about toasted devices.
Exynos chipsets are overheating garbage
I prefer the original mi mix to the mi mix 3
your videos make me hungry
HDR mode on this phone be like: LDR
Smartisan phones would interest you very much
Still would say android 7 is the smoothest android.
im still waiting for a phone like nokia n950 from a name brand
The back design was ripped of from the Huawei Mate 10.
Doogee also copied the same phone which also went from success to failure
I had the Doogee Mix and the phone sucked, as the camera was very bad, it was slow and the launcher was crap.
1st
I had only ONE UleFone in my life and it was HORRIBLE, it was in 2012 I think and kept on freezing when I received a call and keep on freezing in general. They tend to make 1 phone, 1 update and that's all, if that doesn't work, you are f*cked. I remember everyone was complaining about it and they kept on saying that an update is coming and then, they closed the page and made another phone, rinse and repeat...
JerryRigEverything 😀
wheatek is an odm
Where you can find your dreams!
Hey gaming wise it's better than my fold 3 as San Andrea's doesn't work on the fold 3
For 2017 the camera is very bad 👎
I remember my old phone from 2017 it called huawei mate 10 lite
The camera was wonderful a piece of art
It's very good comparable to what we have now in 2022
But u think this phone camera look bad because it's not a big name like Samsung or huawei they don't have that experience in camera software optimization
I coulda swore Xiaomi Made that same exact phone in 2016. One of the first bizeless phones 📱
I explain in the first few minutes that Sharp was the first with the design, then Xiaomi made their one in 2016, Doogee was next in August 2017 and finally uleFone in September 2017.
Yes, look at 0:48 and onwards.
Xiaomi fan boy lol
Both the name and the design was stolen from Xiaomi that's why it could be so cheap.
yhis phone is too good if u compare with welcome devices, it can run effort, effor, efortles, efor, effortlessly some games
Hi
me and plainapple destroyed a Ulefone note 7 that died before i even tried to destroy it, worked one day and was just dead the next
sharp aquos crystal clone
I had the doogee one , it was horrible, barely kicking for a day, also i knew the leagoo mix, same horrible, not recommed it, other than an expensive throw toy.
Bring back older Xperia phone who look like a brick.
69 nice
2017 is 5 years ago.... 💀
In the end Sony's design is still best, just because you have small bezels on both ends, making the screen centered in landscape mode
@@xPandamon Yeah, Sony hit the right balance since Xperia 1.
ok now use the xiaomi mi mix
Looks like mi mix phone
3gp is a old ass format
Yeah, i used it to watch videos on my phones before smartphones. You could actually transform a video to 3gp and even watch whole movies in old dump cell phones.
I used to watch videos and hear mp3 with my old Sony K800. Had probably the best camera too for the time so it was great.
