Excellent video. I use channels to create my custom brushes. I’ve used High MP images to create semi-transparent hair/fur brushes. To add fur to an animal, I create a copy of the animal layer, use the clone/warp tools on the bottom copy to extend the edges of the animal, and then paint black on the layer mask of top layer (using the fur/hair brushes) to create the hairs.

thanks 4 pointing out that a brush is like a film strip each picture is just a point in time but putting them all together you get the illusion of movement wow this is really helpful cause now i can visualize what the brush will look like at at each percentage with out having to take it out for a spin u rock dude!

    Dear Jes'us ramirez
Your lesson on brushes. Helped me understand a few more things I did not know.
Because I was not exposed enough to the brush tool, my toolbox was limited, and I chose to contain other methods.
After your explanation of the whole brush method, I have already created a new way of thinking, to edit a little differently.
    Really a very interesting lesson.
I want to thank you for the eloquent explanation patience and sharing.
    I really appreciate it.
With feelings of respect and gratitude from the bottom of my heart Avidan Yoram from Israell

Should have just used the fur brush to finish removing the green areas after select subject. Either way, it helps to set the mask opacity so you can see what you are doing rather than trying paint blindly.

  •  2 роки тому

You skipped potentially obvious Roundness option in this tutorial. It allows to squeeze brush shape along Y axis only. How to squeeze the shape along X axis? Do I have to create new brush by rotating 90 degrees currently selected one?

To the gentleman that asked about having to reload his brushes every time. He may not realize that if you make a brush but don't properly shut down PS, then the next time you start PS it will not have your brush there. For instance, you make a brush then at some point you tell your computer to shutdown without first closing PS it will not save your brush.
