Actually if you remember the chapter that showed boruto with Sasuke still on the run, Sasuke even says there that his memories are still altered, but he chooses to ignore them. Just like Amado and shikamaru aren't "broken out of" the shinjutsu. They are just smart enough to purely ignore information that doesn't make sense to them and put it all together. Saruda didn't break Sasuke out of Omnipotence. He was just able to look past those false memories because he trusted her. Talk no Jutsu is the most powerful genjutsu, when Naruto casts this genjutsu his enemies are forced to rethink/relive their previous actions, along with the power to bring back repressed memories from the victim. It would be similar to frog-song since it is vocal, but it has the power to manifest the past to be replayed for the victim of the genjutsu to watch. It is most effective when the user is enraged at the victim of the genjutsu, like how he was towards Obito for wearing the mask and for killing the background characters and Neiji. It also can be undone by killing the user (case dependent), since if Naruto died just after casting it, it would be unlikely for Obito to change and it would have just embolded him. But if it was to be at the end of the war after Obito switched teams, he would likely still have lingering effects. So it meets the qualifications to be a genjutsu, and probably a shinjutsu if Naruto when respawning is able to clear up Boruto's situation.
Ada (hope I spelled that right) or more specifically her omnipotence, reminds me of Killua's younger siblings ability to grant a wish. Any wish. It's been a while since I've read HxH but I remember there was some sort of gruesome toll depending how big the wish was.
Have you considered the fact that itachi said that whilst sishui's eye was implanted in the crow, maybe he was referring to how long it would take whilst implanted in the crow
Omnipotence should not be on here because it's not a genjutsu it's a reality warping ability that was used in a way to warp people's perception and memories which makes it feel similar to a genjutsu but has nothing in common with how it functions
The fact of Itachi putting his gf into a genjutsu that gave her 60 years of happiness that then kills her after she realizes it was all fake still puts him up as one of the most evil villains to me.
Nick, I love your videos. I watch them all within 48 hours of you posting them and have been for like a year and a half now. But my god man. The way you pronounce omnipotence drives me all the way up kakashi’s quartz mud wall
anyone else ever wondered how izanagi would interact with the reaper death seal? Because if you could just overwrite your soul being taken by the reaper (especially with implanted sharingan like danzo had, so you wouldnt even lose your own eyesight) that would be beyond broken.
I am pretty sure that Shisui's Kotoamatsukami (with the decades long recharge), is considered so powerful because no one is immune/resistant to it. This includes Edo Tensei and any Perfect Jinchuriki. The reason they are said to be immune, is because the Tailed Beast can disrupt the Chakra flow to their host, and free them. This would explain why genjutsu don't work on Edo Tensei, because the caster of the Jutsu is able to disrupt their Chakra flow in a similar way. We see Kotoamatsukami works on Itachi despite being an Edo Tensei, and the 5th Mizukage concluded that Kotoamatsukami was used to control the 4th Mizukage who was a Perfect Jinchuriki. Since we know it was Madara who was controlling Mizukage, that would indicate that he somehow had his own Kotoamatsukami (or it's just his MS ability and was on it's decades cooldown despite being revived, and perhaps his other was Tsukuyomi which is why he planned on the Infinite Tsukuyomi). This also means that he probably used Tsukuyomi on that 1 random shinobi who made eye contact with him, when he massacred the Shinobi Alliance.
Idk, I think it got left behind because it can just be an auto win if it hits without any interaction between the characters. They generally incapacitate an enemy without an actual confrontation which doesn't fit into the Shonen formula. It's like, if they beat the big bad by poisoning their dinner or a landmine.
I think my personal reason for not caring about genjutsu all too much is that it feels to me like it fell into a similar pitfall as Substitution jutsu. - Specifically with how "Release" is known and done by even simple genins since very early in the series. And the same way you'd ask "Why didn't X or Y use substitution to survive that?" it also makes me ask "Why wouldn't X or Y just tap that person and wake them up?" Feels like every genjutsu would need to be explained as to why it's on such a greater power field to where "Release" would have no effect on it, or otherwise it'd only be usable on someone who was isolated from any possible allies who might release them. - And even then, why expend your limited use of a Sharingan eye if a genin could just sneeze and dispel the effect? And then from an in-universe standpoint, how long would someone need to train in techniques that are so easily countered until they'd get to a point where they can spin a genjutsu good enough to resist the "Release" jutsu? I also get it why they're not making it as center stage from a cinematic standpoint, outside of getting fancy about showing what the illusion is in the victim's mind, genjutsu fights would, from the outside, just be "X does signs and Y stops moving" which wouldn't have the same kind of weight or tension as a more dramatic fist fight or ninja spell duel.
I mean maybe Kakashi helped Sakura towards being basically immune or completely to genjutsu, by showing her the worst fear she could imagine first. Which as a shinobi, seeing and having done what Kakashi had during his life, was a blessing in a way. Letting her know her fear is as likely a possibility as anything else at that point. Especially after Haku had their way with Sausage on the bridge, and would've done so even if Naruto hadn't intervened. Edit: I wish I had a clam summoning jutsu.
Something that never really got explained well at least was how Sasuke's Susano'o was able to prevent all of team 7 falling under infinite tsukuyomi. Would that affect its ranking even slightly?
I don't know why, but seeing you in the comfort of your own kitchen made it feel very obvious you use a "content voice" for your videos 😂 not sure if thats even the right way to put it, but you do a good job nick. Very well spoken and articulate guy forsure.
I understand putting Kotoamatsukami below Tsukoyomi on this list because it’s not as practical, but it’s blatantly false to claim that Koto is actually weaker than Tsu. It’s stated countless times to be the strongest Sharingan genjutsu ever, even by Itachi himself (who obviously knows about Izanagi/mi, so Koto would have to be stronger than them as well). Also, Adult Sasuke’s Rinnegan genjutsu is just outright stated to be stronger than Infinite Tsukoyomi. I wouldn’t have brought this up if this was only a tier list for Shippuden, but I guess you included Omnipotence (which isn’t a genjutsu btw), so I had to mention it. In case anyone doesn’t believe me, here’s the statement word for word: “The lone shinobi armed with the strongest dojutsu!!… Through countless battles he awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan, and mastered the strongest genjutsu.”
You know itachis chakra is still in that scroll which jiriya knows about so lashing koji also knows so he could give the scroll to boruto and he could give it to Sarawak also congratulations on 600k❤
Genjutsu seems like it has filled a niche of being overpowered vs normal ninja, some higher ranked ones, but overall once a certain power scaling has been reached genjustsu falls off. Think of it like how in one piece just getting a logia type fruit makes you highly dangerous against anyone who does not have haki. But if you are fighting nothing but a bunch of haki users you would seem weak.
Can you make a og video about you being a mob character in the Narutoverse in Konoha and trying to get very strong beside your Avarage chakra and everything using idk shadow clone training techniques or gelel stone maybe the meteorite like anything
I think genjutsu was left aside because, from a narrative perspective, it would break combat. A taijutsu user who casts a genjutsu to slightly shift someone's vision would be automatically OP. An undercover shinobi could cast a genjutsu on a team of ninjas, convincing them they're having a regular conversation when in reality the undercover shinobi is slicing throats would be a common assassination strategy. Also, one could argue that genjutsu is just another branch of ninjutsu. I think it was just introduced before Kishimoto understood its myriad implications.
Kurenai was given the script for the rest of Naruto when Itachi uno reversed her. She was like "Oh all the main villains will be Uchiha.. iight I'ma head out" she smart fr
I know its just from the games, but i'm pretty sure one of the games, I think it's Ninja Storm 3.. might be 4.. I forgot. I know it allowed you to play through the entire and each individual Akatsuki members backstory. I'm pretty sure someone here will remember it better than me. But in said game, it showed that the Genjutsu Obito cast on Yagura was just the basic Genjutsu that every Uchiha can use once they awaken their Sharingan. I remember reading somewhere that a Uchiha's Sharingan is like a muscle and the basic Sharingan genjutsu is already powerful, but can be trained and strengthened so that a basic Sharingan Genjutsu can be just as powerful as kotoamatsukami, in theory. With how powerful Obito is, I'm pretty sure he would be able to put a perfect Jinchuriki like Yagura under genjutsu since Obito was able to control Kurama.
So much awesome stuff was shafted by the power creep and bad scaling. like sharingan originally just gave you better perception and let you copy hand seals to steal jutsu.
i think the reason genjutsu isn't used that often is because. naruto is a shonen anime with a ninja theme. and not a ninja anime with a shonen theme. the big important big fights are usually head on confrontations, taijutsu and ninjutsu are great for this while genjutsu are great for stealth and misdirection to avoid combat. historical ninjas aren't meant for combat, and use mind trickery to get in, gather info/sabotage/assassinate, and get out undetected. if a ninja tries to fight multiple people head on they'd get beaten. genjutsu definitely disables the opponent even for a few moments, but most does very little to physically harm their opponent, and mainly disables or manipulate the opponent's senses. these would be great for stealth. but unfortunately naruto and boruto isn't about stealth. they're like debuffs, not meant to directly harm someone but definitely gives you the advantage in the situation
I wonder since he was a perfect jinchuriki, why Yagura’s beast did not interfere with the genjutsu he was under like the eight tails did for bee; unless Obito had him and his beast under a genjutsu together somehow and if that was the case I’d like to know what genjutsu that was.
Gengetsu actively telling an entire army how to beat him and still dominating them is such an underrated feat
that says more about the intelligence of the army than the strength of Gengetsu
I think the reason hells view is D rank is related to the fact that a seasoned ninja would likely be desensitized to seeing horrible things. Kakashi seeing his personally scariest thing would suck but it likely wouldn't even cause him any real affect in the midst of battle.

He got me with that hello fresh ad 🤦🏼♂️ I needs it
Number 1 is literally the fear unlocked technique
I was a huge fan when nick was first beginning when his videos barely got any views and seeing how well his channel is doing brings a smile to my face
"Most jutsu name in English are dumb" is the entire specialty of the Namikaze clan
I love how you start freaking out at the end. I don't know damn it
The kurama clan kekkei genkai not being on this list is criminal
Agreed. It is filler, but agreed.
Pretty sure he made a video like this a while ago and it was included at the end.
I mean... He did talk about it at the very end.
Lol
Don't forgot aoi rokusho's talk no jutsu is very dangerous
Ada (hope I spelled that right) or more specifically her omnipotence, reminds me of Killua's younger siblings ability to grant a wish. Any wish. It's been a while since I've read HxH but I remember there was some sort of gruesome toll depending how big the wish was.
I have to admit this is a great list
Have you considered the fact that itachi said that whilst sishui's eye was implanted in the crow, maybe he was referring to how long it would take whilst implanted in the crow
Ngl thought he was gonna mention the kurama clan as one of the 10 but I’m glad he added it at the end
Omnipotence should not be on here because it's not a genjutsu it's a reality warping ability that was used in a way to warp people's perception and memories which makes it feel similar to a genjutsu but has nothing in common with how it functions
Congrats on 600k 🎉🎉
Still salty Kishimoto teased sakura to be a genjutsu type, BUT NEVER HAD HER LEARN ANY GENJUTSU 😤😡🤬
The fact of Itachi putting his gf into a genjutsu that gave her 60 years of happiness that then kills her after she realizes it was all fake still puts him up as one of the most evil villains to me.
Cant wait for in a year this list to be outdated when Sarada’s MS ability turns out to be #1
I now realized that Infinite Tsukyomi and Omnipotence are the steroid version of Izanagi and Izanami.
Nick, I love your videos. I watch them all within 48 hours of you posting them and have been for like a year and a half now. But my god man. The way you pronounce omnipotence drives me all the way up kakashi’s quartz mud wall
Bad joke, but accurate.
anyone else ever wondered how izanagi would interact with the reaper death seal? Because if you could just overwrite your soul being taken by the reaper (especially with implanted sharingan like danzo had, so you wouldnt even lose your own eyesight) that would be beyond broken.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
This also means that he probably used Tsukuyomi on that 1 random shinobi who made eye contact with him, when he massacred the Shinobi Alliance.
wont a simple wide spread jutsu like the great breakthrough be able to get rid of the steam? (im talking about #9)
Idk, I think it got left behind because it can just be an auto win if it hits without any interaction between the characters.
And the same way you'd ask "Why didn't X or Y use substitution to survive that?" it also makes me ask "Why wouldn't X or Y just tap that person and wake them up?"
Feels like every genjutsu would need to be explained as to why it's on such a greater power field to where "Release" would have no effect on it, or otherwise it'd only be usable on someone who was isolated from any possible allies who might release them.
A what if for Naruto would be dope
Let us never forget Kurenai putting all ten toes in the ground and tried to put itachi under genjutsu
Dude Can you make an video about the canon manga design and colorations of all naruto chars if its posible
Wow we finally reached 600k subs
I subscribed because I really like Hello Fresh
He reached 600k subs, we didn't.
Is it weird that the Chunin exam has always been interrupted, like I can count on one hand the amount of tournament arcs that are uninterrupted.
Love the videos man keep up the great work I love coming home and just turning this on.
He seems so calm…until he has to talk about Sasuke
Dope video
Remember when Tsunade was like, "how could you let something like that beat you"
Ninja if you don't shut up, your afraid of blood
Its almost as if the bringer of darkness technique transports you to limbo like madara did to his clones.
Why didn’t Yagura’s tailed best break him out of Obito’s genjutsu?
The scariest part is that all of the ones up until number 6 are accessible to ANY ninja
is it bad that i know nicks entire intro and outro script by heart and say it everytime lol
how are you not at 1mil yet youre awesome been watching since forever
I don't know why, but seeing you in the comfort of your own kitchen made it feel very obvious you use a "content voice" for your videos 😂 not sure if thats even the right way to put it, but you do a good job nick. Very well spoken and articulate guy forsure.
Bro, when are you gonna do Summons?
In case anyone doesn’t believe me, here’s the statement word for word:
“The lone shinobi armed with the strongest dojutsu!!… Through countless battles he awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan and Rinnegan, and mastered the strongest genjutsu.”
You should do a before and after of your weight for hello fresh next time. Great selling point having an example.
If you're comfortable with it of course
You know itachis chakra is still in that scroll which jiriya knows about so lashing koji also knows so he could give the scroll to boruto and he could give it to Sarawak also congratulations on 600k❤
Never thought about that😂❤😊
“I am a good cook”😂😂😂❤
Can you do a summary of what happened between Shippuden and Boruto please🙏🏻
Imagine if itachi learned how to reflect his ms of the moon... Itachi fans would've went even crazier 😂😂😂
This is more fun than actually watching the canon episodes 😄
"Kakashi decided to use this on a 12 year old, in the bell test"
😢😢😢😢😢 oh finally....I have been waiting this for years and years...I'm actually tears as a grown man 😅
Happy Super Bowl day from one Nick to another!
clearly from the opening the next sequal "voruto" will be about genjutsu being best
Congratulations on the 600k
does anyone else wonder how or why Hanabi's eyes turned back into the byakugan when they were returned to her in Naruto the last: Movie
Can you make a og video about you being a mob character in the Narutoverse in Konoha and trying to get very strong beside your Avarage chakra and everything using idk shadow clone training techniques or gelel stone maybe the meteorite like anything
0:41 well we can take a real liffe example on how you are the most powerful anime content creator
Meatriding ass comment 😂
POV: You never skip Nick's intros🔥💪
Nick ur the best the best u save my life with great content thank you
I love that i commented to do this video on SEVERAL occasions and you finally did 😭
I think genjutsu was left aside because, from a narrative perspective, it would break combat.
Also, a battle between sense-based genjutsu techniques would just get confusing tot write/read.
Hey you should start making shorts of the stuff you promote been trying to find some of the stuff you get sponsored for where'd the mistplay 1
Steaming multi-story building might be better translated as Steaming Tower.
My brain rationalizing the #1 comparison to kotoamatsukami: so book of the end from Bleach without a sword! Got it!😂
I find this speculation interesting that Obito Uchiha may be somehow related to Shisui Uchiha. I wonder if there's something to that.
You should do strongest shinjutsu ranked and explianed
"Leg bent bakcwards..." I think the tore off arm is a bit more jarring.
i think the reason genjutsu isn't used that often is because. naruto is a shonen anime with a ninja theme. and not a ninja anime with a shonen theme. the big important big fights are usually head on confrontations, taijutsu and ninjutsu are great for this while genjutsu are great for stealth and misdirection to avoid combat.
historical ninjas aren't meant for combat, and use mind trickery to get in, gather info/sabotage/assassinate, and get out undetected. if a ninja tries to fight multiple people head on they'd get beaten. genjutsu definitely disables the opponent even for a few moments, but most does very little to physically harm their opponent, and mainly disables or manipulate the opponent's senses. these would be great for stealth. but unfortunately naruto and boruto isn't about stealth.
they're like debuffs, not meant to directly harm someone but definitely gives you the advantage in the situation
I wonder since he was a perfect jinchuriki, why Yagura’s beast did not interfere with the genjutsu he was under like the eight tails did for bee; unless Obito had him and his beast under a genjutsu together somehow and if that was the case I’d like to know what genjutsu that was.
