This song means so much to me. And it’s just one of those days where I’ve needed to play it on repeat. I love how your voice “acts” and tells a story all on its own. It has a more unsure/vulnerable quality to it in the beginning and by the end you can just feel that self assuredness and, even though the fear/hurt may still exist, you are more powerful and important than all of that. You have this incredible ability to tell a story just through the tones/speed/and the way you utilize breath. It’s like you almost make it the accompaniment to your voice-you can automatically identify what is going on with Jenna and how she transforms through the performance without any context from the film needed. I’m not sure if that made sense, but to put it simply: your voice is gorgeous and even without words, the way you utilize the components of singing paints a very clear story. I had just come out of the AIDS epidemic of the 80's and 90's having lost so many of my gay family to that horrible disease.
