@@captainkapalot9644 As a civilian, i'll call them a Soldier because Army and Marines are still a soldier. No matter what they are Navy, Marines, Army or Air force or other branch of military in the country, i still call them a Soldier
As a US Marine, I must say that ROK Marines are some of my favorite people ever. They work hard, they train hard, and they play hard. I loved every time we got to train with them.
South Korean men have to serve mandatory 18mo, it was shortened from 2yrs previously. they have to enlist from 18yr old before 30yr old. its not automatic at you turn 18 and just go serve.
I think the US Marines won the dance off against the South Korean Marines @Courtney Coulston because they are so talented and they have a lot moves as well. I really need to learn some new dance moves. That was so freaking awesome.
I'm so glad that our nation has some good relationships in Asia. A different perspective is always a good thing and the exchange of ideas and personnel for training is amazing. You can build lifelong friendships and relationships. It seems like some of our allies tolerate us but in Asia they really accept us, especially South Korea. Some many of my friends have comeback and said it was the best assignment they've had. They really respect the soldiers and marines and like with most asian countries they'll respect you even more if you at least try to understand and follow their customs. Nice people. Very similar sense if humor as well and humor is great for building long lasting relationships.
That was my unit, 3/8 may-july 2017. We had just finished a 3 week field op, and the command put together an event for us. Some of those cats I still talk to today and it's been over 3 years
In South Korea if it hasn't changed since I was last there in the Army in 1990. The requirement was two years. A lot of them were college students and would return to college after completing the two years.

how about Germans
when you got a dance competition at 1 but defending the homeland at 3
Wouldn't be something if wars were fought this way.. everybody comes home 😌
It would never happen though as the US would win every war!!!
Imagine ending the Nazis this way, only if it was possible.... sad

When you work hard, you play hard ! Good way to relieve tension and stress here.
